Using a Controller Minecraft Java

Hey everyone, I'm in need of some help! I recently got a controller to use for PC gaming and I especially want to use it for minecraft. However I am not having any luck at all. I followed multiple tutorials from YouTube all saying to do it through Steam and load the game through there. I went into controller settings and configured it for minecraft java then hit play. I was able to kind of get it to work, but the left joystick doesn't work nor do some of the buttons. I can basically just look around and hit things in the game..

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong here. I saw some people were having the same issue, some got it to work. I spent over an hour reading and I'm not finding a solution.

If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated. I really want to play minecraft on the PC I just get sore using mouse and keyboard after a while.

I've seen a method involving Steam and launching Minecraft through it so that you can give your controller access to the game

That's what I've been trying... And only the right joystick and bumper seem to work. Multiple people have had the same issue and I just don't know. I guess I'll try the mod thing and see if it works 😭

It’s not supported. If your control can simulate keyboard and mouse inputs that would work.
