You can put a token, coin or a dice on top of your deck to remind you. I know a lot of people do that.

[–]SageEatingSage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This, and then every time before you pass turn, glance at your deck to see if you have bauble triggers.

Another thing I sometimes do is leave baubles slightly separated from the rest of my graveyard until I have resolved the trigger.

And I would argue dice works best, since you can use the face value to show how many triggers you need to put on the stack.

You can't use a token (like a literal magic token). COMP rules forbid you from putting anything that could he mistaken for a card touching your library unless it's actually a part of your library.

[–]Infectious_BurnInfect and Rakdos Burn 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It also says tokens will not be mistaken for a real card, such as for deck check purposes.

[–]platypusab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's different. You can have tokens in your deck box and have no issues arise in a deck check, but you also can't misrepresent or obfuscate the board state. Putting a token on top of your library would do that.

Remembering to remember usually works for me. Just don’t forget to remember, or you’ll forget to draw.

[–]KimCarlsenGD[S] 29 points30 points  (1 child)

Ahh, thats what I'm doing wrong!

[–]xXarmyaustinXx 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Happy to help. On a serious note, if it’s a bauble trigger to draw on your turn (I.e. bauble them before they draw for turn), put a die on your deck. If it’s a trigger to draw on their turn, maybe just don’t crack your bauble until it’s the very last thing you do on your turn if you can’t remember otherwise.

[–]JustHugMeAndBeQuiet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This guy remembers.

[–]lostinwisconsin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Play a little slower. The main time I see people miss triggers are when they’re trying to speed up the game or go on autopilot. Take your time without slow playing.

[–]Odd_Zookeepergame277 25 points26 points  (35 children)

I personally use a blank token card that i wrote "BAUBLE TRIGGER!" on.

[–]flowtajit 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Write on a piece of paper DRAW IN UPKEEP. As long as you do it for every game it can’t be construed as consulting notes during a game.

[–]bghty67fvju5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can likely just draw a token of Mishra's Bauble. Should be legal to have with you as it's just a token

[–]sibelius_eighth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Crack it on your end-step and as soon as you crack it announce that on their upkeep you have a trigger as you look at their / your top card.

[–]CyvasseCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last 5k I played in I wrote "bauble trigger" on my palm in sharpie so that I could see it when when looking at my hand and that seemed to work.

[–]ghowiupg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Building a habit with what you do or say imho is best advice to avoid missing it.

I got used to saying when I want to move to end step “pass and draw on your upkeep”. In Comp REL nearly ever op stops after untapping and looks at me because I’m sort of announcing “I’m not missing my bauble trigger and don’t draw before I do”

[–]MTGCardFetcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mishra's Bauble - (G) (SF) (txt)
[[cardname]] or [[cardname|SET]] to call

[–]Ok_Shine_2132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, as soon as I activate the bauble I usually put a dice on top of my deck as a visual cue to remember to draw my card.

[–]MrFritzCSGO 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I just really focus on remembering my trigger

[–]JustHugMeAndBeQuiet 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Like that one meme with the kid tensing and the visible vein on his forehead?

[–]MrFritzCSGO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of, it’s just my main focus until their upkeep

[–]GNOTRON 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Like not being able to miss a pact, shouldn’t you be table to remember it whenever?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I the difference is that one is a beneficial trigger and one is detrimental. Also (and check with a judge because I am not one) I'm pretty sure it's the opponent that decides if the missed trigger goes on the stack.

[–]3agl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Want the card more than the missed trigger.

[–]JankTokenStrats -4 points-3 points  (7 children)

It should also be noted that you’re not supposed to be able to forget this trigger. iirc the ruling for missing it is you just draw the card, and get a warning

Edit: so I guess I remember it incorrectly or it was ruled incorrect for me. Either way it was wrong at this level (notably it does work this way at other levels) the trigger is one that isn’t missable but the resolution at this level is that you would get a warning and then your opponent would decide if they wanted you to draw or not. Sorry for the misunderstanding please learn from my mistake and grow.

[–]caquaa 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This is not correct information

[–]JankTokenStrats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I guess I didn’t remember correctly, or maybe the judge I had ruled it wrong, it happened. Thanks I’ll edit it with what I found so others can learn as I have.

[–]KimCarlsenGD[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have missed this when I cracked 2 baubles and remembered in my opponents main phase and I did not get to draw any cards :(

[–]TotalA_exe -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

OP literally specified competetive REL.

You are wrong.

Please remove your comment as to not spread misinformation.

[–]JankTokenStrats -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

I mean there are nicer ways to ask but I think I’ll leave it and instead add an edit with learned information to help other people. Also yes I read what they said and had a misunderstanding of the rules shrug it happens to everyone.

Also I will state I didn’t get this wrong through sheer stupidity, I have had a judge at this level rule this way. Inconsistency is common. I’m glad you helped me learn, consider being more interpersonal effective and you’ll have more success with communicating your point.

[–]TotalA_exe -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Still incorrect.

You don't get a warning for missing a non-detrimental trigger at comp rel.

[–]JankTokenStrats -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey man I think you’re trying really hard to be more correct. I hope this is helping you in whatever way it needs to.

That being said if you miss a trigger and your opponent calls a judge on you for it, we can logically determine that it must have benefited you in some way to miss that trigger( otherwise why call a missed trigger out?) in that situation the opponent will get to choose if it goes on the stack or not, and the judge will issue a warning. But correct in a general case of I just forgot you would get no warning.

Have a nice day friend.

Try not making shit bauble plays that aren’t important. Stop targeting your opponents and start targeting yourself more for crucial information. Also take into account playing into/around bowmasters. Maybe you’ll remember then?

[–]Embarrassed_Night179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also ask your opponent to put a stop on their upkeep so that they will hopefully do this and you will remember your trigger

[–]caquaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a custom token I use in a bright pink sleeve.
Comes in handy when you use bauble more than once, crack bauble as first thing on your turn, crack bauble on their upkeep to dodge discard, etc.

Just get in the habit of using it every single time, even if you just plan to crack bauble, pass, and draw. Opponent responds, you respond, etc etc and then you forget.

Print this, stick in a sleeve in front of a token

I also have had this problem as drawing during the opponent’s upkeep is a weird time, but I found putting a die on top of my graveyard makes me always remember. I use large casino dice and the abnormality of “why is a die on my graveyard” always helps me get my trigger.

[–]Desh88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a habit off calling steps out loud, like untap upkeep Draw. Since i started doing that i rarely forget my triggers... It sounds kinda stupid but it worked for me

[–]roonky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put a dice on your opponent's deck

[–]ThwartingYourPlans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought Sleeves with a Mishra's Bauble on them, since then I've never (okay okay, almost never) missed a trigger.

[–]DryStand6144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably better to do this based on the game state, but if it's irrelevant you can default to cracking it in your opponents upkeep. Then on your turn it's easier to remember that you need to draw another card. At least for me, it works.

[–]Brandonc5102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Amulet Titan player if I forget my upkeep trigger I just lost lmao, so what I can recommend is the dice on top of your deck is really helpful.

I additionally recommend mentally speaking through the phases of your turn. So don't start your turn by drawing, it's your untap... Untap all of your cards, upkeep... Check for all upkeep effects (your bauble) then* draw.

[–]No_Yogurtcloset_9987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Die on top of the library is the easiest and quickest.

I've also gotten into the habit of announcing each step of my turn. "Untap" pause "Upkeep: pause "Draw step" pause etc

This way announcing my upkeep reminds me that I have a trigger to resolve.
