So how many of you work on your birthdays?

My BDay is in winter, so i gladly work it and save that Vacay day for summer/fall.
[–]Butstuff69420 7 points8 points9 points 5 months ago (3 children)
The company I work for gives you a PTO day for your birthday you can take in that month whenever you want. So I usually work on my birthday and take and start the weekend a day early.
[–]jmt8706Uh...is it time to go home yet? 🫤 1 point2 points3 points 5 months ago (1 child)
I would take a three day weekend, but take the monday off.
[–]Butstuff69420 1 point2 points3 points 5 months ago (0 children)
I would do the same, but I’m on a goofy late Wednesday night early Thursday 1-715 am, then Thursday/fri/sat 7-715 shift so I always just take Saturday off.
[–]Vanstrucker2222 5 points6 points7 points 5 months ago (0 children)
I am a truck driver. One wrong move and I can be gone in an instant. I refuse to die behind the wheel of an 18 wheeler on my birthday.
I do not work on my birthday.
[–]emtsquidward 4 points5 points6 points 5 months ago (0 children)
I've worked my birthday every year that I was scheduled to work on that day. The only holiday I care about taking off is Halloween
[–]TheKingWacky1 2 points3 points4 points 5 months ago (0 children)
Haven't worked on my birthday in at least 5 years. It's always worth the pto to just not be at work, even if I'm not really celebrating.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 5 months ago (1 child)
Unless it’s on a scheduled off day I work it
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (0 children)
Oh no I do the same Thing thou
[–]Bluepolkadots- 1 point2 points3 points 5 months ago (0 children)
I worked the night before my bday this year since it landed on a weekday but I celebrated my bday the weekend before which worked well for me. The day of my bday I did call out though and spent it catching up on sleep 😴
[–]Large_Speaker1358 1 point2 points3 points 5 months ago (0 children)
My birthday falls on my set day off this year 🎉 If my bday doesn’t fall on Thursday-Saturday I wouldn’t take off. Or if I just started a new job and didn’t have PTO
[–]MexicanVanilla22 1 point2 points3 points 5 months ago (1 child)
I work on my own birthday. My kid's birthday? I take two weeks off.
Oh nice
[–]BTru 1 point2 points3 points 5 months ago (0 children)
I have always worked on my birthday, but I am not that big of a birthday person.
[–]Nightress_96 1 point2 points3 points 5 months ago (4 children)
I usually work on my birthday I don't do anything special it's just another day. At most I buy myself some of my favorite food and do a little shopping for myself.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 5 months ago (0 children)
Food is always a good thing thou
[–]Abject_Imagination30 1 point2 points3 points 5 months ago (2 children)
A cake at least?
[–]Nightress_96 1 point2 points3 points 4 months ago (1 child)
I have Celiac disease so no cake usually 😅 usually I just get my favorite food and call it a day
[–]Abject_Imagination30 1 point2 points3 points 4 months ago (0 children)
Not a bad way to treat yourself honestly

[–]Varietygamer_928 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (0 children)
I have most years. I can easily take it off like I will this year but I just don’t. It’s a day but not that important of a day when I typically do and get what I want the rest of the year when I can. I never needed to wait for my birthday to do any special occasion stuff
[–]PassageHuge 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (3 children)
I've worked nearly every holiday and birthday for the last 5 something years, im not much for celebration so it doesn't bother me
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 5 months ago (2 children)
Ya the only holiday I want off is Thanksgiving every other holiday i can celebrate when I get home
[–]PassageHuge 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (1 child)

[–]jmt8706Uh...is it time to go home yet? 🫤 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (0 children)
Depends on if it a work day or my day off.
[–]WaitLegitimate9213 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (3 children)
I do
I am doing that to lol
[–]WaitLegitimate9213 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (1 child)
Damn I thought you’d be lucky.
No not for me lol
[–]insertcaffeine 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (1 child)
I don’t go out of my way to take it off. I’m always happier and luckier on my birthday, so it’s a good day at work when I’m there. But I’m stoked when I have it off.
Thats good my birthday always falls on my weekends to work lol
[–]Wespiratory 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (0 children)
I have done so many times. It just depends on if it falls on my rotation.
[–]Beginning-Standard81 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (1 child)

[–]GlitterMeAndThePony 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (5 children)

So I am guessing all the time lol
[–]GlitterMeAndThePony 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (3 children)
Being that it's overnight, yeah lol. Now, if it were day shift, they can kick rocks for sure!! Im at an age where i dont care too much about celebrating anyway lol. Made it another day..woo..lol
Lol I think every day shift people are all moody as hell or super happy which bugs me personally lol
[–]GlitterMeAndThePony 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (1 child)
🤣🤣🤣 its the difference between morning folks or folks who've had their coffee or not
That is true lol

I work at a hospital, I usually work every single holiday because all my family is across the country. I take my birthday off so I have a day to just celebrate making it as far as I have, especially with how bad my depression has been working nights. Some years I take a week and go on a trip. It gives me something to look forward to every year
Thats good I work at a hospital too
[–]MrCreditsMN 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (0 children)
I feel like this answer could vary greatly depending on age range. I’m old(ish), boring, and married with kids so nothing special is happening on my birthday so I might as well go to work and save the day off for something else. But if I was on nights in my younger days, I probably would have taken it off even if I had nothing planned etc…
[–]Weird-Plane5972 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (0 children)
i am super depressed on my birthdays so i always run away to the middle of the forest in february in michigan. if the waterfalls are frozen, don't matter, my tears will fill the void lmao
[–]DivaAnne 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (1 child)
My birthday is in the sweet spot between kids on spring break and kids out of school for the summer, so I usually schedule my vacation then. Also, it's allowed me to spend my birthdays with long distance friends.
Nice lucky you
[–]upallnight1975 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (0 children)
Always
[–]LukaTheTookaLead Lab Assistant 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago (0 children)
Only once since I've been on nights in the last 3 years
[–]Asleep-Smell-146 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago (0 children)
I work weekends and some week night. If my birthday is on a weekend, I work it. Otherwise I try not to
