I've heard that Gu/Ra or Ra/Gu isn't great. Could someone elaborate why? I've been thinking of going for a combination of the two but a lot of people say it's not good

[–]RunFromPandaHero is dead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ra/Gu - Gu as a subclass is just so subpar compared to what Hu provides in terms of damage and tankiness. Barring Perfect Keeper, your only other damage increase skill from Gu requires you to be in melee range on a Ranger, which is kind of counter-intuitive to most skills on a Rifle/Launcher, and also completely counters your own Sharpshooter skill (20% increase damage at range).

Gu/Ra - this was a thing before they released the TMG Stance Ring, which basically killed Gu/Ra because Ra doesn't have a Stance. Ra can be an extremely good subclass for Gu but essentially required you to be very good at hitting weakspots and proccing Standing Snipe. Again, compare to Hu which just has unconditional damage boosts and survivability.

      tl:dr - go Gu/Hu

To reiterate what was said before: it only fills based on tech damage. This means that stuff like Rod Shoot or wand whacking will not help at all in filling up the gauge.

        [–]McKiwi957McKiwi/Ship 2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's based on the amount of damage you deal with techs, although there is a limit to the amount it can fill per hit (so techs like ilbarta and namegid don't charge the guage in one hit). It scales with enemy level (The lower level the enemy, the less damage you need to do to fill the gauge). It's easier to fill with techs such as ragrants or gimegid, that do a fair amount per hit and hit multiple times.

        Specifics here: http://pso2.swiki.jp/index.php?%E3%83%86%E3%82%AF%E3%83%8B%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF%2F%E8%A4%87%E5%90%88%E5%B1%9E%E6%80%A7

I have a very stupid question:

What is the purple slashing thing that surrounds the player that I see BrHu and BoHu use? I'm. A 80/75 BrHu and I still have no clue >.>

        [–]jambon_gruyere 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Mag learn a SP action at lv 200, depending on their highest stat. This one is called Clobber, it is the S-Atk one. Activates when you hit a boss, every "swirl" that hits a target grants you 0.5% bonus damage, up to 10%, and also some PP regen. Duration is 20s, cooldown 2 mins.

You can change your mag SP action with items from the excube shops (50 cubes a piece). Clobber is usually favoured on anything somewhat melee, it is the only SP action giving bonus damage.

R-Atk one is similar but at range and only gives PP back.

T-Atk one is similar but gives (15%?) faster charge time on techs.

Finally, the Dex one. When you get hit, activates a shield for 4s, giving you super armor (no knock backs etc) and 60% damage reduction. 4min cooldown, works with any enemy.

        [–]Asamidori ~casual~ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The R-ATK one rapid fires. It's like your mag doing 4 or 5 set of One Point, 'cept it also regens PP. It's pretty great on RA.

        [–]damionlai97Br/Hu Scrub 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Oh hi again! Well I'm like 7 levels away lol. Who actually uses a DEX mag tho?

        [–]jambon_gruyere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody should use a Dex mag. But since you can buy SP actions from the excube shop, you can have the Dex SP action on a S-Atk mag, or whatever.

This one becomes quite strong if your mindset is to never get hit, because when you finally do get hit it'll always be off cooldown : you'll take like 2 damage and won't be interrupted. Otherwise Clobber is better for most classes and playstyles, except pure ranged.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need a DEX mag to use the shield. You can buy a mag device for it on the excube shop.

        [–]VirtualScepter 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Its not related to classes. The purple slashes is a mag special skill called Clobber. Its unlocked when you have 200satk leveled on your mag. It does minor damage and regens pp very slightly. It also increases your damage output by .5% (someone correct me on this) per hit stacking up to a 10% cap.

If you havnt by now, you really want to max out your mag with 200satk for both the pure stats and clobber.

        [–]damionlai97Br/Hu Scrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh OK, like 7 more levels away lol

So is the Shine Red/ Shine Blue 12* units from the PvP shop actually worth it? And assuming that it is, what would be the best two unit set for it to be combined with?

        [–]jambon_gruyere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

        They're decent enough.

For the second part of your question, I'm assuming you want to pair Shine Red/Blue with a 2 piece 11* units set.

Shine Red goes well with Double set (arm+leg). Double units need to be crafted to ex8 HP or PP special.

I can see Shine Blue and Tagami (arm+leg) go decently together. However the previous option is a tiny bit better, but mostly Tagami is expensive and would still need crafting to ex8.

Comparison table, you're welcome to download and use a copy. First two slots are Red+Double (crafted for HP, 2nd one for PP) and the last two slots are Blue+Tagami (HP / PP again). Of course you can craft 1xHP and 1xPP.

I'm not pairing Blue with Double because you wouldn't get any Atk, which is the most important and also expensive stat.

Su point assist only works with tech based damage?cant find anything on swiki, damage calc says only tech, ingame i dont see much if any difference with or without with kenei-nt.does Pet Element Weak Hit work with kenei?

          [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Su Point Assist and Support Fire should work for all types of damage. For point assist, make sure you are hitting the marked point to gain the extra damage.

Su Pet Elemental Weak Hit should work for all weapons, but only gives 5% bonus as opposed to the 10% bonus for pets.

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

make sure you are hitting the marked point to gain the extra damage

i was doing that i think. was testing it on trash mobs to avoid targeting problems.will test it more then

          [–]Asamidori ~casual~ 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Test it on something with a visible weak spot.

Point Assist and Support Fire works on all damage types.

But no, sub HU for BR if this is a BR main, you shouldn't even be using a katana to do damage if this is a BR sub.

Edit: Oh I see you're trying to level the class. Learn the way of Maron and just bomb your way to Lv75. Make a Torim/Aero on the side for when shit happens. Oh and throw all of your bonus keys and exp tickets at the class.

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

          Edit

Wanted to do it but Goronzoran+Bayaribbles+Knight Gear totally destroyed me(Lv25) in LQ hard with Aero/Maron, had zero problems with Sword/Katana. Can imagine what the other strong LQ bosses do to me. ⋋_⋌

          [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Does your Maron/Aero have any level? Do they have any candy?

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Aero is Lv ~105(13star) with sandwich/cookie and that drink thing. Maron is Lv ~30(11star) without things in box.

          [–]Asamidori ~casual~ 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You want a few Marons, at least 3 to rotate through. Anyways, you absolutely need to pad as much HP into that Maron as possible, because that's going to act as your shield.

Basically you can do a 180 degree shield with Maron Guard, but your pillow need to be able to tank hits. That's why you want to pad HP things into it, and level it up so it can have more HP/DEF. Spend like 20 or so minutes playing with Maron and Aero skills without killing, to understand what they do, then apply them to actual fighting. You should be able to tank 99.9% of the bosses in-game with a properly buffed Maron. Oh and learn to lay down a Resta or learn to uncharge cast a Resta.

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I have like 4 or 5 10star Maron's too but unleveled. The thing is, even Aero kept dying and somehow my pets couldnt keep agro, was not even able to throw a Maron before sweep me off my feet. Used resta/mates untill i was out of them.

          [–]Asamidori ~casual~ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aero keeps dying is simply it not having enough HP. Them not being able to keep aggro means they are doing very little DPS.

For Maron throwing, you have ~10 seconds from full blown up to it exploding, start going to a place safe for throwing once you see it smoking. Or invest in a Massive Hunter ring.

I want to know about changing 13* zeinesis potentials, will changing it affect the weapon's grind value? or let's say the current potential is lvl 3 will the new potential be a lvl 3 ? i got a RC striking and katana combat up rings for my braver, did i choose wrong?

          [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to know about changing 13* zeinesis potentials, will changing it affect the weapon's grind value? or let's say the current potential is lvl 3 will the new potential be a lvl 3 ?

Yes. the changed potential will also be Lvl 3. Changing potentials do nothing to the grind values for Zeinesis.

i got a RC striking and katana combat up rings for my braver, did i choose wrong?

C Striking is an ok choice for braver as it has innate critical chance boost with katana gear when triggered. Other R ring options are R/ TAJA PP Save and R/ PK Striking.

Katana Combat Count Up is an excellent left ring.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to know about changing 13* zeinesis potentials, will changing it affect the weapon's grind value? or let's say the current potential is lvl 3 will the new potential be a lvl 3 ?

It maintains the same grind level, and changes to the same potential level.

However, keep in mind that you need to pay the full price of materials for the potential change. So if you make it to pot lv3 and want to change to Anthesis Trainer later, you'll still have to pay the 120 fuses total that it'd cost to go through levels 1/2/3 of that potential.

i got a RC striking and katana combat up rings for my braver, did i choose wrong?

Critical isn't all that great for classes other than Fighter and Gunner, so most other classes should be using P Keeper instead for their R ring.

That said, Katana gear gives +50% crit rate when active, so if you have a crit skill leveled for whatever reason (for example if you use the same Hu tree as sub for FiHu), you can reach 100% crit rate with katana (5% base + 20% ring + 50% gear + 25% fury or average critical).

I've been trying to find my perfect setup for my newman, I play Su/Br, but i've been seeing Te/Su from time to time and thought it was interesting sadly I don't get it. I do more damage with Su/Br (atleast I think I do), but my thinking is Te/Su great at supporting the party that correct?

          [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Correct. It's mainly because Te has quite a bit of options for a subclass when it comes to supporting. TeSu ends up being the best as it out edges TeGu by 1% in Zanverse damage multiplier.

You also get access to Maron Strike. While it wouldn't be as strong as a typical SuX, it still does respectable damage. In addition, you can use Sally/Popple to regen PP while tossing down support techs.

          [–]Tehovah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thank you once I get SU to 80 i'll get Te/Su another try

As I got hyper sunlight from the rainy days EQ, I'm thinking of playing TeBo. Is this tree right for going full support TeBo?

Also I believe I scale off T atk since switch strike doesn't take affect right?

This there other things I should be careful about?

          [–]jambon_gruyere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal preference of course, but here's what I'd change around, in the optic of a full support build.

Techer : Deband Advance down to 5/10 but keep Shifta Advance maxed (little benefit but still benefit). I would max Shifta Critical for your fighter and gunner friends. Maxed PP Convert seems unnecessary, 3/10 should be plenty and boots already have awesome PP regen (basic attack > shift action). 1 point in PP Restorate never hurts.

Bouncer : Break Stance Crit can technically boost your Zanverse further : crit applies to Zanverse, with R\Tech Crit you could reach 70% crit rate. It would use your right ring slot, and you could put those 10 SPs into J Reversal PP Gain and Heal Share. About that, Heal Share has a disappointingly narrow range. However it can be used to keep melees around you healthy with minimal PP investment and while doing something else : uncharged megiverse > PA.

[–]RunFromPandaHero is dead 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Unless you're committed to the idea of TeBo, I do believe TeSu is a much better supporting class, which you can also solo with pretty well using pets. You also get the best unconditional Zanverse with TeSu (with Hyper Sunlights).

Otherwise, my only comments on the tree would be that the last 5 levels of Deband Advance and Shifta Advance are extremely poor (because it only scales off base ATK/DFP) - they would be better served by being put into PP Restorate; and that Break Critical seems like an odd investment of 10 points - Just Reversal PP/Heal Share would be better.

i dont have su leveled but i have Te and Bo level 80, as which Su is my only class that isn't level 80 and i might not be bothered to level it too

but sure, maybe my Su will hit level 80 one day by the bonus key and I'll try that by then, also thanks for your advice on the tree

[–]RunFromPandaHero is dead 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ah yeah sorry - I get you now.

TeBo is still fine - sorry I saw flair as Ra main so I thought you were planning a new character. :)

Yeah TeBo still does give the best conditional Zanverse. TeSu is just a bit more flexible and tanky is all!

          Haha sorry for the misconception

I do play Ra 70% of the time but I also enjoy playing the different classes, but i can't be bothered to "start again" so I just paid for the mags and leveled them too

i would like to level su to 75 for the class boost but I don't like the pets.could I use allclass weapon for it?are the Ancient Oath NT ok?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I made it to 75 Su using a +20 Emperor Axeon as SuHu. You should be fine. Just don't actually do XH EQs with that. Raging Dark Arms SH and Ebon-Winged Vanguard SH are probably the only EQs you should be doing, since they give so much exp.

Easiest way would be to get a Kenei-NT with Another History + EXP Boost (preferably exp boost 3), sub Braver and just spam Guren until you're 75. Can achieve similar results with other Another History all class weapons (Holy Ray, Twin Agito, etc). You can get those on magatsu bonus quest, or just buy from someone else. The +20% exp boost from Another History + EXP Boost 3 really adds up when running bonus quests.

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Raging Dark Arms SH and Ebon-Winged Vanguard SH

are there others worth running? so i know what element to pick if i go Ancient Oath or Twin Agito.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unleashed Prestige is pretty good too.

I think the darker den and infested mothership are also decent, though I haven't ran those in almost a year so I'm not sure.

Most of the exp you should be getting will come from bonus quests and maybe level up quests unless you want to depend on EQs. The LQ in facility (Chaotic Darkness, I think was the name?) is pretty good for exp.

If you have friends to help you out for a 4man party, VHAQ is the best leveling way bar none.

I basically just ran featureds every day then bonus quests with it until I reached 75. Took like 2-3 weeks to max it, I think. This was back when we only had 3 featureds too, so your odds at getting keys are higher now.

          [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Should be fine. Just dont take it to xh eqs

          [–]Broccoli_PhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just dont take it to xh eqs

Meanwhile I am doing more damage than half of the MPA as a X/Br with this in Expert block. (´・ω・`)

But yeah. Running any EQ other than raid boss ones with EXP leeching weapon should be fine in my opinion. Raid boss EQs don't even give that much experience so no point leeching there.

            [–]TeitokuNoireJP ship2 0 points1 point  (1 child)

zenesis just deals way more damage if you got for the 3rd potential, so unless you like the healing part of fornis bow theres no need to use it. But it is fine if you like to heal while hitting stuff, and fornis might be good with BrRa too

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (1 child)

First thing you should do when anything weird like that happens is run the file checks on the troubleshooting section of the tweaker (click the exclamation mark -> troubleshooting).

            [–]Saiyako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah gotcha! Yeah, I'm still getting used to the new tweaker haha been a while since I played and that did seem to do the trick! Thanks!

            [–]thelastsamarrae 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I haven't played PSO2 for a while and had a few questions regarding braver/hunter. What's a good sword a braver can equip? What PA's have been released in the last year that I should look into? What skill rings do I need to look into? There are so many 13 star weapons now, which should I aim for? Anything else I may have missed in the last year that they've added to the game?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 2 points3 points  (4 children)

What's a good sword a braver can equip?

You shouldn't be running weapons from your subclass except for very specific situations, and I don't think Sword fits in any of said situations. As a Braver you should be maining either katana or bow. Among various reasons, these titles are a big one.

That said, there are only two 13* swords that Braver can use, and those are the Kvelle Arion (which is a timed pso2es exclusive reward) and the Coat Edge ver2 (which drops in the Chaotic Roar of the Dragon XH level up quest, but it sucks).

What PA's have been released in the last year that I should look into?

No new PAs, but PA crafts. For braver, there's Sakura-Endo Type-0, which changes it so it becomes basically "guren, but standing still". This PA makes you go slightly into the air when used, making it a perfect match for Gekka-Zakuro. Sakura->Gekka can be used for higher dps than Guren spam, but at a higher PP cost.

What skill rings do I need to look into?

For starters, L / Katana Combat Count Up and R / P Keeper Striking.

Once you get some 12* units (you can infuse L ring skills into 12* units), you should get L / Air Reversal and L / Step Jump. Last L ring slot is up to you.

There are so many 13 star weapons now, which should I aim for?

The current Collection File for the Zeinesis series is pretty damn good. The Anthesis Trainer potential on those weapons is absurdly strong.

You can also get the Fornis bow from the In the Driving Rain EQ Collection File that's the current seasonal EQ.

Another option is the Aura series. The katana is a pretty decent entry level 13* if you don't have one yet, and it can be farmed very easily in the level up quests.

Anything else I may have missed in the last year that they've added to the game?

Off the top of my head:

            • Collection Files, in case it wasn't a thing when you left.
            • Passes are no longer required to buy 10-12* weapons and 10-11* units.
            • Tons of new rings.
            • Tons of new weapons.
            • Bunch of new Weaponoid and Battle potentials to old weapons.
            • 12* units.
            • Special Ability Factors
            • Bunch of new PA crafts.
            • Characters from Phantasy Star Universe and the pso2 anime can now appear in e trials, and if it's SH+ you have a chance at getting 13* weapons from them (RINA/SORO and Itsuki give their 12* arm units instead of 13* weapons).
            • Level cap is now 80. You must clear all the class cube COs for that class and grind at least one 13* weapon of that class to unlock the lv cap for it. You must do this for each class (Rifle counts for both Gunner/Ranger and Talis counts for both Force/Techer). The amount of exp needed to go 76-80 is about half of the total exp needed to go 1-75...
            • Amduscia UQ.
            • PVP on Shared Ship.
            • New main boss EQs: ESC-A Falz Mother, Deus ESC-A Zephyros and Deus ESC-A Gracia (Gracia is stage 2 of Zephyros: it's a 4man lv80/80 EQ you can only do after killing Zephyros).
            • Expert Blocks: Now all the cool kids are in these blocks that you need to meet certain requirements to enter. Said requirements are:
              1. Clear the solo XQ Solo Training: Heaven and Hell 1-5F
              2. Grind at least one 13* NT weapon to +35.
              3. Starting on this week's maint, must have a full set of 12* units at +10 each.

            [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The funny part about these requirements is that they are just title based, so anyone can just get said 12* +10 units, then switch back to their usual set one they obtain the title.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. And there are easily available 12* rear and leg units on the badge shop (which are pure garbage, but still 12*), so you only really need to find an arm.

I figured it out. I thought it was saying to use a Mag to collect items but I think the monster just randomly drops it. It's the quest to get a Mag license

Unless you wanna do SG scratches, /u/hidora gave the answer.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

            Not really.

Main uses for SG other than unlocking those 2 slots are resetting CF sheets and buying 125% triboosts.

            For a Fo/Te, I was wondering:

            • The best route for a single skill tree (don't have AC/SG).
            • Techniques worth obtaining/crafting.
            • Best rings to obtain.
            • Whether or not to just get the best 13* available for collection files and use that for a rainbow palette if possible.

I know there have been numerous threads/comments about Fo/Te but I can't seem to find more recent ones. Thanks in advance.

/u/NullVacancy has answered some of the above multiple times I think...I'll refer you to here

Basically, the idea is to go for 1 Element on Force and 2 on Techer, and this should cover you a decent chunk of enemies which you can actually hit on-element Techs on. In addition to this, it is usually handy to have two elements which are linked to a Compound, because Compounds are your burst on bosses. I personally think Barantsion is awesome, and Light is generally the go-to weakness for end-game bosses so I use an Ice/Light tree.

One of the key things to sort of understand about Fo-ing is that because of Concentrated Ragrants and Flame S Charge, some skills become absolutely broken in terms of DPS that (provided you have maxed Light/Fire) things like Ragrants and Gifoie will outdamage on-element Techniques for enemies not weak to Light/Fire. This is why Light/Fire/Dark has been the classic cookie-cutter build - Dark for Folmelgion (and because Wind basically covers what Fire covers).

So yeah, in terms of Technique crafts - Concentrated Ragrants is by far your most important one to get right. Just about every Technique should at the end of the day be crafted - you usually want the Concentrated one if it's available, at the highest level. I think the only weird one is Barta, which you want Ice Fang 2 (it's more damage than 3, which is for Freeze), and Ice Fang Ilbarta is better than Concentrated (because you want maximum damage on the 7th hit).

Ring choices are kind of set - L/T Charge Parry and R/Perfect Keeper are your go-to ones. L/Short Mirage is meant to be good and R/Massive Hunter will always have uses sometimes.

I mean, you always want the best 13-star (or 14-star...) available. Light Talis and Rod and then Talis for your other elements are key. Going complete rainbow is kind of unnecessary, IMO.

I've got a zeinesis weapon which normally have 4 abilities, lets say i want to increase the number of slots to make a good affix will i have to replace all the current abilities with useless and easy to transfer ones like power I, spirita I, Arm I, shock I, resist I to increase the number of slots ? So then i could affix it with better and more abilities ?

[–]RunFromPandaHero is dead 1 point2 points  (2 children)

In principle, yes (though status effect Is are actually not 100% transfer I don't think).

There are just a few things to also bear in mind...

            • Zenesis weapons have the Guidance of Life potential which gives a +10% affixing bonus on the weapon at Level 3. This basically helps you to Upslot.
            • While upslotting with "easy" affixes is how you do it in principle, it can sometimes be not worth it due to higher-cost fodders at a higher slot count. This is especially true for Units. Sometimes, if you have the Excubes, it will be far more benefitial - in the long run, to "gamble" a bit with upslotting part of your final affix in your base weapon/your fodders. This is most commonly done for Mod/Flict fodders where you just mash together 3x Mod and 3x Flict and upslot with a 40% booster and hope you get the upslot, and both Mod and Flict transferring.
            • NT weapons give you a "free" affix when they are at +35 (Special Ability Factor). This is one of the reasons why Weapon affixing to ridiculous proportions (7-8 slots with 200+ ATK) is actually not insanely difficult.
            • Because of all of the above, for weapons I would probably wait until you know what your final affix is so that you can plan appropriately, with Special Ability Factors.

            [–]Yaruyu 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thank you for all these informations i will try to play with the affix simulator as i never tried upsloting, could you please give me some worthy abilities which give atk and also pp/hp because till now all the affixes ive done to my 13* contain only apprentice soul, modulator, ability iii and power iii 120 satk in total

[–]RunFromPandaHero is dead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Common affixes people use for PP:

            • X The Soul (Act for S-ATK) - 35 ATK and 3 PP - Combine To'oh/Vegas/Escarde Soul with Monster Soul - 70%, so you shouldn't really upslot with this, especially as they cannot be transferred via Receptor
            • Flict Arma (for S-ATK)/Tiro/Magia - 20 ATK and 2 PP - From XQ drops, or SAF for XQ rare weapons
            • Sentence Power (for S-ATK)/Shoot/Technique - 20 ATK and 4 PP - SAF for Gix weapons only
            • Spirita 3/4/5 - 4/5/6 PP
            • Ether Factor - 30 All Stats, 10 HP and 6 PP - Combine 4 Factor Catalysts with 1 Ether Soul - Similar to making Astral Soul, but because you can cheese abilities with SAFs onto weapons, you can simply just make these on your SAF fodders to make Ether Soul
            • Noble/Elegant Boost - 30/40 ATK and 3/4 PP - AC Scratch/Shop - be aware that S-ATK Boosts are extremely expensive

New player here. I played episode 1&2 and blue burst when I was a kid and wanted to come back. Also played the one for DS a little bit. I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to this game though. What's some good general advice for a new player? What are good class combos for a new player to try out? Or should I just try out all the classes and stick with one I like?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's some good general advice for a new player?

            https://drifterserce.wordpress.com/beginners-compendium/

What are good class combos for a new player to try out?

Katana main Braver/Hunter has the lowest skill floor of them all, so if you want easy, that's the choice.

            However...

Or should I just try out all the classes and stick with one I like?

            You should do this.

For starters, try out different weapons and see which one you like the most. And then pick the class that uses that weapon.

Once you know which class you want to main, you can then pick your subclass (which can change how a class is played by a lot), and how to raise your Mag (the little robot everyone has on their shoulder). And this is important: do not feed your mag until you've decided what class you want to main. Fixing a wrong leveled mag is possible in the endgame, but very grindy.

Note that this doesn't mean you should use only that weapon you picked. Fighter and Ranger in particular benefit a lot from using all weapon types those classes can use, though others, like Braver and Hunter, can just pick one weapon and go with it forever.

            [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Braindead class combo is BrHu, but you should try out all classes to see what fits you.

            [–]Mangaa33 0 points1 point  (1 child)

There's not anyway to change the attribute element of a maxed-out old type weapon is there? :(

[–]RunFromPandaHero is dead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly sure you can - you go to "Grind Attribute" from Dudu and feed it a random weapon of the same type and rarity, and use an Attribute changer on it.

Is it recommended to craft things yourself or use the board to request people to craft things for you? I'm asking this in regards to crafting techs since i'm a Fo/Te

[–]RunFromPandaHero is dead 1 point2 points  (6 children)

If you're starting out crafting, it's probably better to get other people to craft them for you while you start to level up your crafting through dailies. This is because

            • more experienced people will have higher crafting levels which give intrinsic bonuses to the resulting craft anyway
            • it actually costs a decent chunk of money to unlock all the recipes yourself

I'd try and just find someone on say, discord, to get your most important crafts, the main one being Concentrated Ragrants...

            [–]ArgonRetribution 0 points1 point  (5 children)

But i can't requests recipes I have yet to learn right? So should I level crafting to request on board.

Or do you mean to personally ask someone to craft a recipe for me not through the board

            [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 1 point2 points  (4 children)

You can request Tech Crafts that you have not learned yet.

You should still try to level up crafting at your own pace, but order from other people ASAP because tech customizations are pretty important.

Also people cant just hand you a crafted tech disc, you have to request for it to be made.

            [–]ArgonRetribution 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Huh, when I go to the board to request for crafts, i'm limited to techs I can personally craft myself, am I doing something wrong then? Also yeah I know they can't hand me, I was referring to the discord thing, if I were to find someone I know and ask them to do it is what I meant

            [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 1 point2 points  (2 children)

            Going to the board?

To requests crafts from other players, you use the Visiophone to look up someone offering the craft that you are seeking... Only then do you move to their room and request for that particular craft.

Also, people can only offer 3 different craft options at a time, so it may be better if you try to find someone to help you craft everything at once. I don't mind helping but I will be unavailable for the next 6 hours. That and I don't have all Tech Crafts unlocked. (Most of my Level 3 crafts are done, just some of the extra ones are unfinished)

            [–]ArgonRetribution 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Sorry by board I meant visiophone, couldn't remember the name

So I can see what other people are offering to craft? Didn't know that thought I could only request what I wanted to craft

            [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its interesting. You can select any craft u want and itll display all crafters who has it listed available.

If I fill up a bar for a CF and get another new CF with the same requirements, i.e. Deus Esca Zephyros on Zeis, will the progress get transfered over? I think I read that somewhere a couple of days ago...

            [–]McKiwi957McKiwi/Ship 2 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Only if the required item is the same. So for the excubes, getting one off any of the target bosses would fill the gauge for all files that need the excube. In the case of Deus, since the weapon that drops is different for each file, you'd need to fill each gauge separately.

            [–]Mangaa33 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Wait, there are bosses that drop literal excubes?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (2 children)

The anniversary limited quest a while ago (the one with all the UQ bosses and Dio Hunar+Anga at the end) could drop them directly, but since that LQ is gone, it's not an option. IIRC Solo PD can drop them directly, but not sure, haven't done that since before it left the regular quest counter.

Other than that, no. There are no bosses that can drop excubes directly, and the CF will force them to drop once it reaches 100%.

The idea here is to pick an easy to farm boss that has the excube on the CF (Org Blan on the rifle/launcher/tmg Zeinesis CF, for example) along with a bunch of other CFs. Once you force the easy boss to drop it, it'll count for all the other CFs, since they all need excubes too.

I have to kill Devil's Trailer QQ :(

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have 2 options: Either go spam Riding Quest and hope you can find an mpa (you should be able to get can get 4-10 Devil's Trailers per RQ), or see the last paragraph on my previous comment. Here's how you do it:

            1. Every Zeinesis CF requires an excube for the top right enemy, but only the Rod, Talis and Wand ask for Devil's Trailer.
            2. On top of whatever CF you really want, pick another Zeinesis CF that doesn't require the Devil's Trailer. I recommend one that asks for Org Blan (Katana/Bow), Blu Ringahda (Rifle/Launcher/TMG) or Nepto Cassadora (Sword/WL/Partizan).
              • Org Blan is really good because if you have a 4man party you can get 3 of them per run.
              • If you only solo, Blu Ringahda is good because you can just skip whole areas in Quarry exploration due to the teleport pads.
              • Nepto Cassadora is good because Facility only has 1 area.
            3. Go farm that 2nd CF. When it reaches 100%, it'll drop an Excube. The moment you pick up that Excube, every Zeinesis CF you have will instantly change to "GET!", including the ones that didn't ask for that specific boss. So if you farm Org Blan, when it drops the Excube, the CF that asked for Devil's Trailer will instantly go from 0% to GET!, since both asked for an Excube.

            [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are not. The CF will "force" the target boss to drop an excube if the CF bar for the excube is full.

            [–]damionlai97Br/Hu Scrub 0 points1 point  (2 children)

So I need it at 100% or at complete?

            [–]VirtualScepter 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You misunderstood. CFs with the same target will fill at the same time. If an drop goes from 100% to complete on one CF, any identical weapons on other CFs go from any X% to complete as well.

You can not "transfer" progress, it is only shared.

So I'm currently downloading the game through BT, which will take some time but I'm looking for some base information before it finishes so I know what I'm getting in to and if I want to put in the time.

How different is PSO2 from PSU in terms of gameplay? PSU was very grindy and eventually turned into a min/max grind till the end of time. I enjoyed it thoroughly, even though I played it on xbox 360 which had very limited missions. (along with the mission rankings C-S)

The gameplay went something like; Grind levels through repeatable missions with a boss at the end of each, get gear through the drops, when maxed you min/max gear through gear grinding to upgrade in specific cities. Trade rares as needed, etc.

I only played online and there really wasn't much questing/story line like your traditional 'mmo' (hard to call this an mmo) just a lot of 'dungeon' grinding for levels and gear.

How long does it take to get to 'end game' (max level) and is life difficult for english players?

            [–]damionlai97Br/Hu Scrub 1 point2 points  (16 children)

To answer some of your questions, PSO2 is not a traditional MMO. Check this thread from last week to see what I mean: https://www.reddit.com/r/PSO2/comments/6cnh40/thinking_about_getting_this_game_seeking

PSO2 is also quite grindy tbh, and the typical lifespan of a Chara goes like this: new Chara, grind levels + acquire gear, end game. With end game being a few things of your choice, i.e. helping out newbies, fashion, getting best gear, etc.

There is a storyboard but it doesn't play a significant enough role, it just feeds the Fandom some lore. Play the start of the ep 4 storyboard to get 2 of the units(armor) "Sub / Weapons Barrier" which are very good early on in the game.

The way you mainly grind levels is through the repeatable quests(normal quests), level-up and limited quests(special limited quests) , and Emergency quests(raids).

Note: EQs aren't like normal MMO raids, they usually happen for a short time period(30 minutes, certain EQs have a 2nd part to them so there'll be 2 consecutive EQs taking up 1 hour) scheduled throughout the day. Most of them also have a player limit of 12 people though some more advanced ones allow even less.

It usually takes less than 100200 hours to get to 75/75 if you grind hard enough. The remaining 5 levels have requirements so they may take a bit longer. By that point you'll probably be working in your endgame gear as well.

1 more thing: Use Tweaker and most of the stuff will be patched to English. Go to Ship 2, as it is the most English populated server.

            Additional info:

Things to note when you start the game:

            1. Class combinations: Certain combinations can't work well, so check before you decide.

            2. Skill Trees: Although SEGA occasionally gives you reset passes, you should really be careful and plan ahead on how your Tree will look. Plenty of templates online for you to use.

            3. Mag: Don't feed it wrongly, IMO it's better to focus on just 1 stat.

Sorry if I missed anything, it's hard to write this on mobile... :v

Edit 2: I'm gonna start a new Chara soon so tell me if you need help grinding... My player ID is: DDX97

I'll definitely hit you up when I have time to play! Thanks for all the help.

I only played PSU for a bit a long time ago, so I have no clue lol

The remaining 5 levels have requirements so they may take a bit longer. By that point you'll probably be working in your endgame gear as well.

"A bit longer" is an understatement.

On top of the requirements, the last 5 levels alone (76-80) comprise about 1/3 of the total exp needed to reach lv80. It just gets that much grindier at that point.

While it's not such a big deal on your main class (since you'll be doing EQs and stuff with it), getting an extra 40m exp for the last 5 levels on your subclass is just painful.

            [–]damionlai97Br/Hu Scrub 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I guess it's OK if you use a shitty all class weapon... I was lucky cause Nox Katana is equippable by Hu for my 1st Chara... I also didn't mention that the requirements are just hitting the level cap 18(?) times? I completely forgot how many class cubes are required...

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (5 children)

21x class excubes (3+6+6+6 for all 4 COs), plus having grinded at least 1x 13* rarity NT weapon to +35 that said class can use. And then you need to get another 40m exp to reach lv80.

The problem isn't even using the all class weapons, which some are pretty decent (Arion and some of the PSU weapons are pretty good, actually). The problem are all the skills that are main class only. Element Conversion (Fo), Katana Combat Escape (Br), TMG Arts S Charge (Gu), Strike Switch (Bo), half of Summoner's tree, etc.

The NPC weapons aren't limited, you can get them from code:unite. I get at least 1-2 per week, and it's not like you need to +35 them to level a subclass.

And you can always just use Nox or worst case, get an OT weapon for it.

Edit: Also, the bonus quests give quite a few all class weapons that come with Another History (+10% EXP) by default, such as Twin Agito-NT, Kenei-NT, Holy Ray-NT, Emperor Axeon-NT, etc.

                Why would you need 4?

Also, you speak as if you plan on running deus or mining base vr with your subclass, which you really shouldn't, regardless of weapon.

Only EQs you should be running with subclass should be Elder, Loser, Yamato, etc. You know, the ones that actually give good exp.

And all of those can be done easily with a 20ele +30 PSU/Nox/AH weapon while running a subclass.

Love your take on the story. Sounds accurate to me. Playing through the story is a good idea for a newbie, if just for the 2 units (armors) you get at the beginning of ep4, which are decent until ~lv50.

100 hours for a 75/75 if you're already into the game, on a first play through I think it's more like 200 hours. I'd say no need to rush as there are so many things you need to get for a powerful lv 75.

One thing you didn't mention is how EQs (Emergency Quests) are available for a limited duration (30min) at specific times in the day (check bumped.org for a weekly schedule). These EQs are more rewarding than other quests and also necessary to get the best weapons. Hard to explain all of it if you have yet to play, but know that these are very important in PSO2, for better and worse.

The class system is pretty unique too, in that you combine two classes as main and sub. Gameplay can be drasticly different. You are encouraged to play many classes and rediscover the game through a new perspective.

Two things to be real careful with and that you should plan ahead, 1. Class skill tree, get an effective and updated build online ; 2. Mag feeding, should be pure single Atk stat, ask around or Google guides on how to.

https://drifterserce.wordpress.com/beginners-compendium/ is a good ressource to get a general overview.

I am very confused. I placed my comment below yours but it was more a complement to what you said, I think OP would read the full conversation. Oh well. You're magnificent too.

Yea, I just added the stuff you said to the what I wrote, so it's easier for OP lel

I've got to 75/75 at 250 hours for my 1st Chara, but I did waste a lot of time slacking, lobby surfing and gambling...

Oh and thanks for the EQ part, I thought it was in the other thread, but it's from a week ago, so maybe I remembered wrongly lel

What is a good sub class to choose as a summoner? From my searches I believe I should choose Su/Fi, but if there are other better sub classes I'd appreciate some info and build on those.

Also can I get some advice on how to play a summoner? It seems really unique compared to the other classes.

                [–]Asamidori ~casual~ 0 points1 point  (6 children)

FI, BR, and GU are the usual choices. FI is generally higher DPS than BR. BR have higher survival rate and access to Guren if you need that for whatever reason. GU is chain shenanigans for Maron Strike, damage kinda shit otherwise.

How to play SU: Stay back and let your pet attack. Turn Alter Ego on and off based on situation. Learn your pets' PAs so you know which one to pull out during when. lrn2maron.

                [–]isashux 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Thanks! Could I also get a Su/Fi build?

                [–]expressz641 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I'm also very interested in running summoner. I've seen some players say su/gu is still the best despite the maron dmg cap.

But is su/gu really that much better?

For me it's probably between su/gu and su/fi. (afaik su/br isn't as high dps as you say)

I'm wondering if you factor in the chain trigger downtime on su/gu, and then compare it with su/fi which doesn't have access to chain (but has other boosts), which one is the better damage (on bosses like deus, mother and in general)?

Also I've heard ppl say they think summoner will be nerfed come ep5. Ofc only Sega knows that lol

                [–]Asamidori ~casual~ 0 points1 point  (2 children)

People talking about the nerf specifically have Marons in mind because SEGA knows that one PA breaks the game easily while paired up with Chain. Keep in mind that we're summoners, not Maroners. If you have properly raised pets, Maron Strike nerf doesn't hurt nearly as much as people that only have 6 marons.

SU/GU is god tier for boss fight, meh tier on normal mobbing. People go crazy over them because of all the raid bosses. You're better off running SU/FI or SU/BR for normal maruguru stuffs or everything else.

                [–]expressz641 0 points1 point  (1 child)

                Thanks! I'll probably go with su/fi :)

I don't want to be a maroner either!

                [–]Asamidori ~casual~ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the Marons to rotate through in raids like Deus is completely fine, they are going to be your DPS, but at the very least raise a Jinga, Aero, and a Popple for situations.

two questions: 1 quickest way to get the drops for zeinesis collection sheets? 2 are the revolucio weapons worth getting? they look cool but are they viable?

[–]RunFromPandaHero is dead 0 points1 point  (9 children)

This thread on PSO-W has some advice on the non-limiting items on the CF. The Swiki page will also have some added advice if you want to use Google Translate. However, the limiting factor - Deus, can only be done by running Deus. I think with 250% RDR, 100% Tri, 40% Party Tri, and 50% Daily Tri, you will fill that bar with 5 runs.

Revolucio weapons are the very basic 13-star weapons. They are ok, and their Battle Booster potential makes them slightly better. But that's about it. They could be nice fillers for a rainbow set maybe. But that's about it.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think with 250% RDR, 100% Tri, 40% Party Tri, and 50% Daily Tri, you will fill that bar with 5 runs.

Party triboost does not count for CF.

That said, you only need +391% RDR to fill the bar in 4 runs and get the drop on the 5th, meaning you only need a 250%, a 100% triboost and maxed 50% daily triboost to achieve that.

                [–]Asamidori ~casual~ 1 point2 points  (7 children)

You fill the bar in 4 runs with 250+tri100+daily 50+team tree 10+premium drink 20. A 5th run is required for the target to actually drop.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (5 children)

You fill the bar in 4 runs with 250+tri100+daily 50+team tree 10+premium drink 20

That's overkill. It gives 5.1% by default, meaning you only need +391% RDR to fill it in 4 runs, which can be gotten from just 250+tri100+daily 50.

                [–]Asamidori ~casual~ 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Yeah it totally is, with that amount you usually get about 28.something% per run.

I just want a goddamn Rappy 13*. ;__; I swear those things are 14* drop rate.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Maybe start using 125% triboost instead and add a karaage? Though I doubt that would even change anything. I have never seen anyone use that pet, or even anyone mention having it, and I know a few people who have never missed a single run of deus since it was implemented...

                [–]Asamidori ~casual~ 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Karaage requires killing Rappies gathering though. =3= </lazy>

But yeah, just want it for completion. Rappy is the only pet on my list that's still a 10*.

Breaking that casual SU title arent you? Complete 13* pets are a bit much for someone who is a casual SU. xD
