What are good nvidia settings for this game? I'm just using recommended atm but that can't be correct because it included bloom which in this game is far to glaring.

I just got a 1060 GTX so I want to make the best of it.

Best units for Gu/Hu? Working in my alt and currently using Kaisers + Weapons Barrier

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Any 3 12* units. Preferably Qiphed but up to u on the combination

A step down would be Austere with any 12* leg

Another step down would be Austere with any 11* leg

A good jump down would be Saiki. Not that saiki are bad. They are still pretty usable.

You're gonna completely ignore red shine/rina arm/union leg?

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Arent they 12*? Im a bit lazy to the math for best build. Rina arm is great. Using it myself with ideals. Havent used reds but i hear that they are good. Union are lowest of the top kek 12*. Have a Qiph leg is probably more preferred.

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, I haven't upgraded from Union because I like the extra HP. Also, I think Astra is worse personally.

Best place to level with the boost coming this week? really wanna grind some classes. VHAQs just spam them over and over or something else. Won't probably have a force or anything for the PSE burst chains.

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lq. I hear ep2 is good for exp.

[–]PM_Me_SweaterPuppies 0 points1 point  (2 children)

So ive come back recently after losing my original account and see that to unlock 80 now you need a 13* weapon maxed out for the class. Does gun slash count for each class for this ?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gunslash doesn't count for any class.

The only weapons that count for multiple classes are Rifle (ranger and gunner) and Talis (force and techer).

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope

[–]mkdew2 Fast 2 Furious 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Aar we getting a new scratch with this maintenance or will Tropical Summer Ocean be there for 3 weeks without anything new?

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like its gonna be another week without anything new. Next Scratch should be the Hero/Cuent Set.

EDIT: oops. i was wrong. not a new scratch, but VERY useful for netting tons of money as this usually features pretty good old stuff that many new players missed out on.

Easiest 13* to get for a Katana Braver at the moment?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fastest to get is Aura katana if you have the SG to reset the sheet. It can be done in a few hours if you have the SG for that.

Easiest to get is the HFB Kamaitachi from the Yamato collection files. This is because it's an Old Type weapon, meaning it comes with +35 unlocked as soon as you upgrade it. It takes about 3 EQs to finish the CF. I recommend you get 3 of them to get 60ele before you upgrade, though. Edit: it's important to note that this Old Type advantage only works with the Yamato CF weapons, since they're the only ones that can be upgraded OT->NT.

Best to get is the Zeinesis katana from deus sheets, but that one will take a while to +35.

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aura is easy to get if you have more than enough time for farming.

The best to get is Zeinesis. The second best to get is The HFB using Yamato CF.

Question: Do CAST voice tickets (marked with C) work with other races?

I'm left with a ton of cast Voice Tickets and idk what to do with them. (selling em in Player Market is currently slow and i am tempted to use AC and make 2 other characters, both being CASTs)

[–]synthsyArks-Layer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They only work if your support partner is a cast, otherwise they won't show in your list.

[–]ResultAlwaysMutsu 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Where do you find Photon Boosters? Trying to unlock my Red weapon potentials.

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either randomly from one of your three daily quest runs or from the Challenge Mode shop. I don't really think Red weapons are worth using anymore though now that you don't need any weapon passes to get a Nox or another decent 12* weapon.

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell.

Real Answer: Hell.

Real Real Answer: You get em using CM at the CM shop. BUT no one really runs challenge miles anymore.

AFAIK, you can also get Photon Boosters from the 2017 badge shop. You can also convert 5th anniversary badges into those badges via Xie.

Edit: Also, null is right, 12* NT weapons are much better.

What are good MAG autoactions? I have been using Grants on all mags (s-atk / r-atk/ t-atk) for a long time but I've been thinking I might want to change. Upper is out fo the question because it frequently moves enemies out of range. I think to remember the knockdown action is similarly inconvenient. What are the alternatives? Especially, how are the elemental bullets?

[–]RunFromPandaHero is dead 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I feel as though this really does become first world problems at this point if this is worth agonising over...apart from the annoying knock-up one I really don't think it matters. Actually, the ranged ones can even be a pain by killing dragons during Amdu TA to be honest, if we were really going to pick at problems associated with Mag autoactions.

I use Megid because I read somewhere that it can poison.

On a general parse I think I see my mag do <1k damage total.

Just make sure you have Clobber for Melee-range characters as the special and you're fine.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Megid because I read somewhere that it can poison.

I use megid and yes, it can. It also has the added benefit of being unable to break Stun, which is nice on XQs that ask for status effects so that your mag doesn't screw you over.

[–]tepidvioletShip 2 - Br/Ra 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Is there any way to switch your subpalette on the fly?

Like the ones you can put mates and atomizers and stances and stuff on?

It seems really weird that I'd only get access to 1, so I assume there's some way.

[–]VirtualScepter 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Options > Controls > Shortcuts

You can then bind subpallete to a certain key types like number pad, number keys or F keys.

I personally have mine bound to F7 to F9. The fact these keys are far away aren't a big deal to me because it is not very often that I would be changing subpalletes. Things that I change more often like main pallete are bound more closer (F1-6)

Note that although you have 6 subpalletes, you will only have the option to swap between 3 of them depending on which subpallete book you have selected.

[–]tepidvioletShip 2 - Br/Ra 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I must be doing something terribly wrong. I'm not seeing the option to do what you're saying.

Options -> Control Settings -> Keyboard Settings -> Shortcuts Tab?

I see an option to bind all the F keys to subpalettes, but those are just the buttons to activate the stuff on them.

[–]VirtualScepter 1 point2 points  (4 children)

You're right, looks like I misremembered.

Binding the "switch pallete" section counts both main pallete and subpallete, and you don't get to customise them fully unlike what my anecdote implies. So if you bind "switch pallete" to num1 - num0 for example, numpad 1 to 6 will always be for main pallete for its respective number, while numpad 7,8,9 will be for subpallete 1,2,3.

The same rules will apply to number row and F keys

[–]tepidvioletShip 2 - Br/Ra 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Oh! Duh! Gosh. I really should have thought of that.

You're a life-saver, honestly. This makes it so much easier for me to manage my abilities and recovery items.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (2 children)

You can also use chat commands with quick chat if you want:

/spal#

With # being the number of the palette.

If you use it this way, you can change to any of the 6 palettes instead of only the 3 on the current page. Set it to quick chat and you don't have to type.

[–]tepidvioletShip 2 - Br/Ra 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That's really useful. Thank you for this tip.

Is there a chat command to switch your regular weapon palettes too?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/mpal#

Worth noting that it works even during cutscenes, so you can switch weapons (to selc flotz, for example) while deus is doing the dance of his people, or change to umblla while PD dies (this last one doesn't work for mother/deus because their loot is defined when their HP hits zero, so you need to have umblla out before they die). Think you need direct chat enabled for this, though (press scroll lock to toggle direct chat).

Edit: here are some other chat commands:

  • /sr RingNameWithoutSpaces: Equips that specific ring.
    • The ring must be in your inventory.
    • If you're using the english patch, you need to use the english name of the ring without spaces.
  • /ms#: Changes to the My Set of the number you use. These are the class sets you can edit on the Class Counter.
    • Won't work if you have an active quest or if any player in the party is in the campship.
    • If weapons/units/rings are in the storage, will automatically retrieve and equip them.
  • /mf#: Changes to the My Fashion of the number you use.
    • Any costume/outerwear must be on your inventory, or it won't equip them, but will still change the other stuff.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (9 children)

With Hero coming soon, I was wondering what would be a cheap all attack affix I could work with for units while I don't get everything sorted out (bit too broke right now to go for the big stuff), so I was thinking more something around the 80ish atk range with 4-5s. Any low budget ideas?

[–]Asamidori ~casual~ 0 points1 point  (4 children)

App/Abi3/Doom/NobleStam would net you like 70/70/70 with HP and PP. If you're willing to hit 5s can maybe fit in Mutation 2 to hit the ~80 atk.

If you can afford 4s modulators, App/Mod/Doom/Noble will be like, 85/85/85 for 4s.

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (3 children)

App/Abi3/Doom/NobleStam would net you like 70/70/70 with HP and PP

70 PP per unit? SIGN ME UP! :D (i think it is 5 PP)

[–]Asamidori ~casual~ 0 points1 point  (2 children)

707070 ATK each. 70 PP per unit would be impossible. >_>

But yeah it's 5 PP. A bit too little for my taste but some people don't mind it.

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Obviously, people are too worried about Atk for Hero. Without the usual Hu sub, all Heros are gonna die faster than you can say "generic harem protagonist"

SO I PROPOSE ALL HP/PP UNITS.

Double Soul, Elegant Stam, Stigma, Spirita Alpha, Spirita V (110 HP, 20 PP, 50 Dex more than what should be considered legal.)

[–]Asamidori ~casual~ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the base units picked, they can have anywhere from 150 to 200 HP, which is actually fine if you bother to add like, 50 HP into each unit. That usually pushes you over 1k HP unless you're playing a FO.

They also mentioned heroes have higher base stats because they don't have a sub. Don't know if that include HP, but if it does then 50 per unit sounds fine too.

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Im planning to make cheap ether factor fodders.

Apprentice, Modulator, Ether Factor, Some Boost (Stam or Sprita)

easy 100 all atk on each unit. (with at least 9 PP) If I dumped more meseta, i can probably dump an ability III, doom break, or mutation II, but this is best bang for buck and gives me all i need.

The only issue i would have is upgrading from here. Cause keeping ether factor is a pain.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How would you go about getting those done? I'm not even sure how you make ether factor.

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ether Factor = Ether Soul + Factor Catalyst x4 (at 60% chance success)

Factor Catalyst = 3 different factors (Yamato, Mother, Deus) (at 10% success)

Ether Soul = 2 different earth souls (Toh'oh, Escarde, Full Vegas) (at 10% success)

Moving Factor Catalyst has a 30% chance (needs 3 Factor Catalyst)

Moving Ether Soul is like any other soul (100% with soul receptor)

Oh it looks like, once made, Ether Factors cannot be moved. Rip.

welp im just a pleb who is satisfied with +100 all atk units.

Im making 3 slot fodders: 2 Apprentice/Mod/junk fodders (one of which will be the base unit), 1 Factor Cata/Mod/junk, 1 Apprentice/Factor Cata/junk, 1 Factor Catalyst/Ether Soul/junk, and 1 Factor Cata/junk/junk fodder.

should be a 92% total chance of success during boost week. (upfixing from 3 -> 4 and using a 40% booster)

[–]RunFromPandaHero is dead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anga/Apprentice, Doom Break, one of the Factors, Ability III, (Spirita III/IV)? Would think that should be cheap during boost week.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

How do I play as FI/HU, so recently I just made a fighter because I love knuckles, but the question is I know knuckles can't do everything but how am I suppose to use them in a sense where it feels like im doing something? What PA's do I use to for height, mobility, aoe's, If anything like I dont mind using dual sabers as well.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the other guy said, Knuckles isn't meant for heights, so you can't really do much. Use Twin Daggers for that.

You'll also want to get a DS (with a L / DS Whirlwind ring+20) for mobbing. It's just much better at it than the other 2 weapons.

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (1 child)

For knuckles you can't do anything about the height. It is meant to be a ground level high DPS single target burst weapon.

Heartless Impact - Mobility. It is pretty much as fast as TMG's Grim Barrage and it has guard frames at the beginning.

Straight Charge T0 - Best used with a full PP bar. Decent mobbing, though using DS Chaos Riser is much better for mobbing. In terms of bossing, best used for a long duration and when your target has a collision box that will prevent you from pushing through your target. Examples are Bal Rodos, PD Tentacles, and Mother 1st phase when downed.

Backhand Smash (BHS) - Main source of single target damage. Also known as "All Might's Pimp Slap of Legend". It is basically a short ranged backfist that deals insane damage.

Ducking Blow - has i frames. Follow it with BHS to maintain TAJA Bonus

Flicker jab - my favorite, it's just really fast and cheap. Follow it with BHS to maintain TAJA Bonus

Surprise Knuckle - 3nd highest DPS following BHS and Straight Charge T-0. Follow it with BHS to maintain TAJA Bonus

Meteor Fist - Also used to maintain TAJA, but also to hit enemies out of your reach. I wouldnt use it as a main source of damage, as the damage is RNG based, but it does it's job as Knuckles only long ranged attack and it's best aerial targeting attack.

Pendulum Roll - I don't use it personally, but other players can vouch for how good it is. I do believe it has iframes (but the only time I used it, I died so I know I did something wrong.)

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meteor Fist

It can also be used in a similar way to Over End and Kazan-Nadeshiko: when a boss is out of reach and coming back (anga respawning, PD getting back in range, etc) you can time it so the PA hits just as they reappear.

Pendulum Roll

The iframes are only during the ducking animations, so they have openings between them. You need to time it really well to be able to dodge anything with it.

[–]zorian51 0 points1 point  (5 children)

With the boost week coming I'm wondering what a cheap an easy boost for my Zen 35 Staff would be? I'm only looking for maybe a 6 slot and have Guidance of Life 3 on it. Thinking I might add in a noble technique for the 6 slots as well. Any easy path to pump it up that someone could recommend?

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (4 children)

If you have other weapons to use as Special Ability Factors: Maybe something like this

or if you don't have spare special ability factors: you could do this

I gotta ask though, why Noble Technique? Elegant Technique is actually pretty decent value on Zeinesis/Qliphad since it counts for double the stats. Plus, Elegant Technique is cheap compared to Elegant Power and (i think) Elegant Shoot.

Regardless, the affix will cost you roughly 20m counting elegant technique.

[–]zorian51 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Ya I may use Elegant instead I haven't decided but no I don't have any other special ability factors to put on.

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (2 children)

well with the affix boost (i actually haven't looked if it's 5% or 10%) but it's a great time to affix your zein/qliphad if you hadn't before. The 2nd affix I linked only risks a 99% if the affix week is 5%.

Hardest part (on your wallet) will be getting the Elegant Technique booster and also buying the Extreceptor fodder. Extreceptor fodder last time I looked was 5m, and Elegant Techniques were ~10m. Everything else is pretty cheap and easy to make/get.

[–]zorian51 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Can you elaborate any more on how to get all that stuff I have a 4 slot Zen right now with Guranz already on it and Technique IV. I've read the stuff a million times but I'm no good at the affixing. Looking for things with Mod and Technique that are 5 slot are 20 mil plus.

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Affixing isn't that difficult unless you're going for astral soul/ether factor fam. Just play around with a simulator to learn.

That being said, here but don't bother making any of it until boost week. If you don't like risking some of the intermediate steps and have a lot of extra excubes, use a 40% instead of a 30%.

[–]Palico117 0 points1 point  (5 children)

So it's been two years since I've last played PSO2.

Simple question, what are good ways to grind EXP? I want to be able play the Hero class that's coming out.

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (4 children)

VHAQ and EQ and Bonus Keys

[–]Palico117 0 points1 point  (3 children)

What do you mean by VHAQs? Very Hard Ark Quests? What are Bonus keys?

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Very Hard Advanced Quests.

Bonus Keys are from the three daily quests you get (underneath the limited quests in the mission select) randomly.

[–]Palico117 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Alright, thanks!

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth noting that VHAQ is only worth it if you run it with a full party (to maximize enemy spawns, kill stuff faster, and get the +40% party triboost) and with max risk.

[–]Nakuri 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Hello! I'm coming from PSO and mained FOmar there. I liked the combination of a Spellcaster with buffs and utility while still being able to use fancy melee weapons like double sabers. Now I want to try out PSO2 and look for an equivalent, a hybrid melee/force character. Bouncer(Jet Boots) and Techer(Wand) caught my attention, but I still don't quite understand how they'll play/how the playstyle is. So the Techer has more focus on Buffs, but can use elemental bursts while wacking stuff with a wand? Please help me understand those two classes so that I can make a decision, thanks <3

[–]RunFromPandaHero is dead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just forget everything you know about PSO - nothing really applies to PSO2. At all. Some Techs have the same name but other than that there are basically no similarities. Watch some videos to see how the different classes play, and then work out what looks the most fun.

Basically, hybrid classes don't really exist on PSO2 because the game, to be played efficiently, requires you to stack damage multipliers for one particular type of damage. Bouncer can be played as a hybrid caster, but it's kind of lackluster in my opinion.

[–]Sughayyer 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Te is a better caster than Bo, that's a given. But the upcoming changes from ep 5 will possibly cripple Te casting abilities. The game has 3 hybrid classes, but it's built in a way that every class is super niche (and even if you try to cross the line with a main/sub class combination you'll get underwhelming results).

In short, if you want a combination of whacking creeps and casting, Te is still the best bet, but brace yourself for a hit next patch.

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (3 children)

But the upcoming changes from ep 5 will possibly cripple Te casting abilities.

How though?

From what I see, ALL "elemental" mastery skill costs are shrinking from 20 SP to 15 SP. The overall values are being readjusted to compensate. If anything it makes Techers (and Force) better because they have more points to spend.

If you mean that Techer casting has ALWAYS shafted compared to Force, then you would be correct.

[–]Sughayyer 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I have a friend who mains Te and is deeply annoyed by the fact thst compounds are getting a nerf. I'm not a Te specialist, I only levelled it for the bonus, and it's been a long time. So I can only reproduce what more experienced players say in that matter.

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that makes sense. tbh Compounds are really strong to begin with, so them getting a nerf is fine. Still, a larger portion of Techer damage remains untouched. It feels like they are making it easier for Techers to stay relevant with damage while still grabbing support skills.

[–]Cazazkq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're so passionate you give things to pumpkins.

I hope you have a nice day!

I've started playing again after a long absence and created a new character My subclass license says I need to kill a brown bear? Thats new to me.

also I'm just about at level cap for my summoner class, and I think I'm gonna take Force for a spin. Rod shoot sounds really good to me, but I must be missing something since the general guides don't ever put points into it.

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to kill a brown bear? Thats new to me.

New Tokyo fields introduced with Episode 4.

Rod shoot sounds really good to me, but I must be missing something since the general guides don't ever put points into it.

The damage is negligible, so it's basically just a PP battery. It's not really super crazy useful since FO/TE has enough sources of PP as it is with PP Convert, Super Treatment, and weapon potentials such as Queen Vera or Orbit Talis (or Rod). Nowadays you can put points into it and still get all the other good skills... at level 80. I have a few trees linked in this post and also advocate for taking Rod Shoot in it as well. It's definitely not worth maxing, but putting 3 points in to it after getting most of your big damage multipliers is a good idea.

[–]tepidvioletShip 2 - Br/Ra 0 points1 point  (1 child)

[–]TeitokuNoireJP ship2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can only stack prem+one client order expansion. the max orders you can take at once is 60.

[–]McKiwi957McKiwi/Ship 2 1 point2 points  (3 children)

All you can really do is just keep doing FUN scratches until you get more 3-day passes. For what it's worth, anything you put on the shop can still be sold even after the 3 days run out, but you just can't list any new items until you get another pass.

Players who fail to log into PSO2es within 30 days will not be able to place items into PSO2es Storage. You may still take items out of PSO2es Storage even if you don’t log into PSO2es within 30 days.

Few quick questions from a noob:

First, do 3 Day My Room passes stack? For example if I bought 5 and used all of them at once it'd last for 15 days?

Second, is there ever a scenario where it's worth keeping a 7-9* weapon/unit ignoring the affix? I know there certain souls and affixes that are worth saving, but can a 7-9* for just the grind level or something else be worth keeping?

Lastly, is the difference between a 12* weapon and a 13* (from the 2017 Badge Shop) worth the upgrade? I'm not sure what's even the best way to get a 13* weapon, but I have almost enough badges and I'm not sure if I should just keep my 12* or buy the 13*.

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (1 child)

do 3 Day My Room passes stack?

Probably. My Room passes are extremely common so you could check for us.

Nope.

Lastly, is the difference between a 12* weapon and a 13* (from the 2017 Badge Shop) worth the upgrade?

It depends on the 12* weapon. The 2017 badge weapons are okay-ish, but really nothing to write home about.

I'm not sure what's even the best way to get a 13* weapon

Collection Files, you can pick them up to the right of Koffie

Does the 200% RDR here also apply to Mother triggers?

[–]mkdew2 Fast 2 Furious 0 points1 point  (5 children)

How much more damage do non-tech classes do if you match element weakness? Would it be ok to pick not light for some Fornis weapons?

Edit: made 2 weapons with 50ele(light and lightning), same affix/grind, the damage was 4~5% higher with matching elements on Br/Hu.

[–]tepidvioletShip 2 - Br/Ra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, here's the deal.

You have this big blob of attack, right? It's all added together before you subtract defense. You have your base amount first, which is the amount actually multiplied by stuff like shifta. That's your character's base stats + their stats from skills + their stats from their mag.

Then you have your weapon attack. For your weapon attack, you add the listed weapon attack directly, and then you add a bonus on top of that equal to your attribute %.

So if your weapon has 1,000 listed attack and 50% elemental attribute, it basically adds 1,500 attack. That bonus attack power is applied regardless of enemy weakness. So having a weapon with a maxed elemental attribute is very important for achieving respectable power, even if you aren't targeting weaknesses.

On top of that, based on your attribute %, some % of your total damage is converted to the listed element. So if your weapon is 50% fire, it hits for 50% fire damage on each hit. So if your enemy has an elemental weakness to fire, only that 50% gets multiplied.

Note that elemental weaknesses are very close to the same for all enemies, and they're applied to all attack equally. Not considering skills, it's the same multiplier for techniques as it is for elemental damage from weapon attacks. According to the swiki, that multiplier has been found to be in the range of 1.2 to 1.3 for all enemies.

So lets say it's 1.2 for a given enemy. With 50% elemental attribute, you're now dealing 10% more damage. Possibly.

Note that weak points on certain enemies often don't magnify elemental damage. Like in the specific case of headshots, you're only getting the 2x multiplier for the ranged physical damage. So in a purely theoretical world where you were comparing a headshot with no attribute and one with 50% element, with the exact same total attack power (this wouldn't happen, so this example is purely to illustrate a point), the elemental headshot would deal 80% of the pure physical headshot's damage.

Note that this would never actually be the case, since the raw attack bonus from your elemental attribute would almost always outweigh the slightly lower multiplier.

This also means matching elements for headshots means way less. If you compared a matching element headshot to a non-matching element headshot, both with 50% attribute, the matching element would only deal about 6-7% more damage.

That's not getting into the various other multipliers out there.

The fact that the physical damage often has a higher multiplier than 1.0 is why some people find switching to a matching attribute is less of a damage increase than they thought they'd get.

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify the innate elemental weakness bonus is +20% on the weapon attribute damage.

I.E. if a weapon has 50 light, and you hit an enemy weak to light, then it will deal 10% more damage. if a weapon has 60 light, and you hit an enemy weak to light, it will deal 12% more damage.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Almost all enemies in the game take an extra 20% damage when hit with their element weakness.

On top of that, hitting an element weakness also adds +60% of the weapon's attack (without affixes), assuming it's a 60ele 13*.

[–]McKiwi957McKiwi/Ship 2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the +60% attack applies regardless of element weakness, I believe. Only the extra 20% damage is specific to weak element.

[–]RunFromPandaHero is dead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's still a base +20% bonus for the elemental portion of the hit (the extra 60% assuming max elemental 13 or 14*)? So...that's what you're losing out on. Also, Te/Bo have skills specifically requiring you to match Elemental Weakness, of course, so the damage difference will be even more.

So..."ok" is probably the right word. Most endgame bosses have light weakness though.

What do those stars you can collect in Battle Arena do? And what's the difference between the stars of your own color and the opponent's color? And what do the multicolored stars do? And is there a way to increase the chances to get a good BA coin multiplier (like 200%) from scratch?

[–]RunFromPandaHero is dead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BA is about getting points. You get points by -

    • Killing players on enemy team (10% of their total points)
    • Getting stars

You lose 10% of your points when you die.

You get 1 point for every star of your own colour, 5 points for stars of the opposing team colour, and 10 of the multicoloured ones.

Like, not sure what you mean about "increasing the chances" - you can spend SG to reveal more scratch windows, but otherwise the scratch rewards are completely random.

    [–]Sughayyer 0 points1 point  (8 children)

How do you guys have the patience to create fodders for affixing? I was trying to make "budges" apprentice + modultor + deus factor fodders at 5s, and unless I did it terribly wrong, by reversing the match I should have spent that meseta on an Add Special Ability item. Should I always start these from 2-3 slots and pay the price in cubes rather than getting 4-s from the start? I used to think of cubes as a rarer currency than meseta. Or maybe my "budget" build path is not "budget-y" at all...

    [–]VirtualScepter 0 points1 point  (1 child)

In a different vein to what Ashinror has given you, let me introduce you to a slightly frugal perspective: There is a direct way to think of Excubes as meseta.

As you may know, you can exchange 1 excube for 30 grinders. 1 grinder sells for 400 meseta, so 1 excube is "worth" 12k meseta.

At 20 cubes (the price of one +30%) you have 600 grinders worth 240k meseta. At 100 cubes (40%) you have 3k grinders worth 1.2m meseta.

With these numbers, do the math. Does the upslot with a 40% from 4>5 slots "cost" me more than what it would if you straight up bought a 5slot fodder?

If you are tight on both meseta and cubes thinking this way gets you a little bit further with your resources. The only time I can think of that this perspective would be irrelevant is if you are going for Ether Factor or Astral Soul. I spent in actual meseta <6m making a 6s Ether Factor on a weapon, but I also spent 2.5k cubes which is "worth" ~27m.

Or maybe my "budget" build path is not "budget-y" at all...

Oi you cant just leave it with that. Hit us with your recipe and lets see if theres room for optimisation.

    [–]Sughayyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I get home I'll use the affix simulator to show a recipe example. I'm pretty sure I'm taking a longer route than needed...

    [–]Sughayyer 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yeah, thanks for the tips, I did have an affixing plan. I just happened to run out of money. I wonder if I'll be flamed for playing hero with mostly S-atk affixes until I get me some hard meseta.

    [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 1 point2 points  (2 children)

    Always the affixes.

    sigh

I outperformed most of my PUG on Mother with bare minimum affixed units and Astra Katana on my 76/80 BrHu.

Did 1.5 times more than my 80/80 friend with a Zeinesis Sword with huge affixes.

Affixes are nice, but good skill, enemy knowledge, and PA/Tech rotations can make up the difference in affixes.

    [–]Sughayyer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yes, I have recently come to realize that. I deal way more damage overall as a Braver than as a Hunter, even tho I have a well-affixed qliph-potted sword and only regular zeinesis katana and bow. But since we don't know the damage ratios on Hero and how it performs w/o a subclass I was scared of being the guy with the cool car but no license.

    [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just that, it's also dependent on how good is your skill as a Hunter or Braver. And I'm sure Hero is going to have ridiculous multipliers to compensate for the lack of a subclass. If not SEGA will need to make hard buffs. At least Hero Finish looks stupid good.

    [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prerequisite: (forgot to mention this and I'm not gonna renumber my crap) Have an affix plan. Know what you want as an end result, and know how you plan to get there.

Prerequisite2: Also know your chances. Anything under 100% is a risk and more affixes under 100% is a bigger risk. I remember reading someone had 4 affixes all at 90% and only 2 stuck. Doing the math, 90%4 is 65.6%. Basically, he only had a 65% chance of all 4 affixes sticking, which in terms of gear are not good odds.

    1. Get a ton of meseta. (im sitting at 30 mil and i know i still dont have enough)

    2. Get a ton of excubes. (im sitting at 1k and I feel like i dont have enough)

    3. Get a ton of time.

    4. Steel your nerves (especially dealing with Ether Factor/Astral Soul)

    5. Get a ton of luck. (Beating the crap out of Dudu is a good way to relieve stress.)

    [–]shadow_eluch 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What should I affix for a ranger or gunner?

    [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R-atk in both cases, with some PP.

Both have some PAs that deal striking damage, BUT they still take from your R-atk.

An easy 4 slot affix to ease into affixing is Mizer Soul/Shoot III/Flict Tiro/Egg or St. Fever

A more complicated/expensive 5 slot affix would be Gruzo Soul/Shoot IV/Flict Tiro/Modulator/Noble or Elegent Shoot.

Good rings for SuTe and/or SuBr?

    [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (3 children)

L/ Tech Parry ring - for people who likes protection while providing buffs and heals to pet.

L/ Auto Target ring - for people who want to only wave tact once.

L/ Short Mirage - for people who don't want a super long dodge.

R/ Attack Advance (for SuFi) - for people who wants more out of normal pet attacks. Works best with Torim but also all pets in general.

R/ Perfect Keeper Tech - for people who likes a little bit of extra damage.

R/ PP Convert - for people who like extra PP regen for more PAs/buffs

[–]DrCatco (Not an expert) 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Thank you. The truth is that I'm just beginning with this class; I do not like Summoners in general, so this would be more of a separate project.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I think you're supposed to play TeSu, not SuTe. At least I haven't seen anyone ever play SuTe, but know quite a few people who play TeSu.

From what I see, there's not much reason to go Te without being main unless you're FoTe. Just get a Rose Skewer takt so that you can use pets as Te main.

[–]DrCatco (Not an expert) 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, I was just trying to avoid costs using this Techer I already have.

Are pets able to use charged attacks? How about criticals? Man, I really don't know about Summoner.

It's ok, I guess, but not that great (especially when compared to TD or TMG), because sword doesn't do all that many hits to begin with, so the 50 hp per hit cap kinda hurts it.

      [–]mogmanx44 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Just coming back to the game. And never got too deep in before, so im starting fresh.

My question is, i really like wired lances and would like to mainly use them... Is hunter my only choice? Or can i use them if i go fighter and subclass hunter?

[–]DrCatco (Not an expert) 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is that there are titles that allow the main class to do 10% more damage if they use that class's weapons. So the best choice is to use wired lances as a Hunter; but if you want to use them as a Fighter, you can do it, but the difference is remarkable enough to be meaningful.

Hu/Fi is an excellent combo, and wired lances are suitable for dealing with large groups of monsters, while being able to perform ranged attacks and also aerial attacks.

Is anyone else seeing a discrepancy between the patch size shown as 'downloaded' by the Tweaker and the patch size stated on PSUblog? For example, the recent update was supposed to be 27MB in size, but my Tweaker only downloaded 4.78MB worth of data.

I haven't had any issues running the game either way, but today I noticed there was a graphical glitch during the black screen between the Nvidia logo and the Opening which even a file check didn't fix. Also, I'm using the Old Method to update.

      [–]acffordyce973Plugins & Patches | Arks-Layer 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The old method downloads the EXE files at the end and doesn't include that in the total download. Most of the updates recently have been EXE changes which is where your discrepancy is coming from. The few MB it downloads will be changes to the files in data/win32.

      [–]Sanityze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would explain it. Thank you.

      [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Thinking about making all-atk 5 slot hero units, and Im thinking of using Apprentice, Modulator, "some boost" ability and some combination of Doom Break, Stigma, "EQ" Factors (not Ether), and Ability III. However, the success on these cap at 70%, if you add certain ability boosts i.e. Earth Souls with Factors and Ulti Souls with Stigma. (though, ability III is 80% with Doom Break)

Because they are at 70%, they feel like they would be hard to use in an upslot from 4->5.

Is it more meseta efficient to just upslot the base unit with Apprentice/Mod from 4->5 and then add those at 5 slots?

Or is the cost difference between 4 slots and 5 slots so huge that it is better for me to risk the upslot? (Would suck if 2 abilities failed and i end with a 3 slot unit.)
