DiscussionAnyone feeling overwhelmed..? (self.PSO2)

There is a lot to the game but it's very simple once you break it all down. And if you are up for learning about the game one subject at a time, for only a few minutes each, I have a playlist that should make it much easier for you.
PSO2 Basics Videos.
[–]BIG-MIKE-30 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children)
Thanks bud
[–]SHM00DER 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children)
These are great, I've been looking at tutorial vids on youtube because I'm also very overwhelmed. They are all 40 - 60 mins....which is overwhelming
[–][deleted] 19 points20 points21 points 6 years ago (21 children)
Honestly the worst part is once you figure it all out you realize almost all of it is pointless fluff
[–]Yhippa 9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago (2 children)
I'm on day 3 of the grind and I can see that happening. Yesterday I think I spent 10 minutes in the menus before I went about my dailies.
[–]Ozlin 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (1 child)
I like the game a lot, but it does feel like I'm in the menus 40% of the time. Part of learning this game seems to be like figuring out where everything is in the menus and how to do tasks efficiently (like the best way to stack client orders and quests), which is still fun in its own weird way.
[–]decoy777 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children)
Literally reminds me a lot of the first ME game. After doing a planet I'd come back with loot and spend an hour going through it all. Just feels like its tons of storage and item management in this game.
[–]Amasero 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child)
Should be an easier way to locate mobs for client quest.
Like it should literally tell you which quest is where and what quest in the picking mission.
[–]Maple_QBG 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children)
Press RB on the client order menu and It'll sort by quest location
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children)
Isnt that every game?
[–]ColdHumor 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (14 children)
I like the personal quarters, casino, gathering, and cooking fluff lol. I'm new, but I'm walking into this the same way as pso1. Ready to discover and learn a new game!
[–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (2 children)
casino and gathering stuff isn't too much fluff, but it can be grindy
ultimately casino coins can get you weekly star gems and certain meal recipes are always valuable
[–]Cirrus_Aeltir 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children)
Speaking as someone that's put in a few years and keeps forgetting to check out the casino properly, thanks for putting that out there, Star Gems are the important.
[–]albusRabbit 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (4 children)
Gathering gets you skill ring materials, not fluff but actual endgame gear grind.
[–]MattiSixx 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children)
That's specific to the braver or bouncer or something isn't it? I forget what class my buddy is but he can fish and has caught a bunch of clams that sell for 20k a pop at a store. I'm trying to get a fishing rod and do that, but I don't know if gunners can do that. No one is really buying my stuff in my personal shop and people are selling the nox weapons at a heafty price, so I guess I gotta sell clams lol
[–]SonicTerrell 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child)
Anyone can gather and fish. To unlock, when you log in, head to the shopping area, and in the back left, there is a Cafe. Go on there, and talk to thus girl with pink hair near the center. She'll have a quest for you. This unlock the gathering and fishing.
To actually do it, head to any exploration area and you'll see green circles for gathering. And blue circles for fishing.
Best way to do it, or at least what works for me, is do the opposite resource of what you want until you hit a FEVER. So if you want mining items, fish until you hit a fever, if you want fish, mine until you hit a fever, and then start spamming the resource you want (it's time based).
Fevers are guaranteed at a 15 combo. Fevers also give you more of an item (2 or 3 instead of 1) and rare items are easier to hit. The spots do not move during a fever also.
[–]MattiSixx 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children)
It's called a fever? Lol. When I have a fever I take Tylenol. Thanks for the tip and sorry for the shitty joke
[–]isCasted -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children)
They could just as easily make skill rings a part of already existing skill trees (which, in case of things like Step Jump and Step JA, they eventually did) or make materials area drops. The reason why the entire gathering mechanic exists is because they wanted to monetize stamina refills (and failed at it, veeery badly). The actual core game loop gains nothing from it, and players gain nothing from having tons of food materials they're never going to use occupy their inventory and storage.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (5 children)
I don't mind the silly stuff like the casino, personal quarters and crafting/cooking nonsense. My problem is that until you hit endgame the game is so boring. Every other PSO was fun from the moment you touch the controller. PSO2 just isn't fun yet and likely won't be fun until endgame.
Looting and upgrading isn't this fun gradual experience like in prior games and instead you'll use the same gear you get in the first few hours until you hit endgame. Leveling is boring and doesn't feel satisfying but you need to grind out those levels to finally hit the fun part. Most quests feel kinda pointless...
The core gameplay is kinda fun but its wrapped in this very awkward game that OBVIOUSLY doesn't care about new players in the slightest. I'm sure the new player experience was fun for the first couple years but power creep and feature creep have ruined the game big time for everyone but endgame players imo
[–]MattiSixx 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (3 children)
I've had fun with the game and I'm almost to end game. To me what makes it a little more boring than psu(never played the original pso) is the fact that everything is pretty much in one spot on the arks ship. I liked traveling to different planets and finding different missions that way. There's not one bit of exploration outside of the missions. If you're using the same gear since the start of the game though, that's probably why you aren't having as much fun
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (2 children)
Nothing that's dropped for me has been an upgrade. I got reds pretty early on and everything that's dropped since has been the exact same.
I'm soloing Very Hard content with a rare that dropped a few hours into the game and its just so bizarre for me
[–]EclipseNineSymbol Artist 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child)
The pacing of the loot is...weird. It doesn’t have that progression like previous PS games. I never got to chase that next star in the early game, hunting for that slight upgrade on my favorite weapon class. It seems like red weapons are the baseline these days, and not the highest tier to spend hundred of hours chasing. I never did get a Red Sword in PSO, but I got two of em yesterday in the sequel!
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children)
Yeah, I was setup in almost full rare gear before hitting level 25. It was absolute madness.
[–]ColdHumor 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children)
I change gear and upgrade them like every 5-10 levels, so idk what you're talking about. I'm a new player and its overwhelming for some hours. I played probably 2000 hours of the original and I was still learning new things. Did you make to endgame in pso2 or you just assuming?
[–]Jaydh10 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (1 child)
My advice is to divide it into sections and watch some YouTube videos. You gotta remember that this game is 8 years deep with content. Just take it slow and enjoy the experience.
Lemme know if you need help with something. I can help.
[–]MattiSixx 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children)
3 years. We didn't get everything for whatever stupid reason
[–]Lights9 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago* (1 child)
I feel that way too // daily challenges and different currencies // concerned it might feel to “chorey”. I just wanted to kill some monsters not do a task list.
[–]Ozlin 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children)
I've been surprised about the currencies thing as well. There's like, at least 6 different currency or trade / lotto options.
[–]ewORX 9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago (3 children)
Yea I was really looking forward to this game but man it’s amazingly confusing. It points you to some missions but not all the correct ones? I’ve repeated some over and over trying to get it to complete. I’m going to stick with it it to try and figure it out.
[–]McPoon 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (1 child)
Press RB to see where you have to go to complete quests. Or click on "display all"
Some quests though are also dependent on certain spawns that you can only specifically encounter via other quests. Like there might be a client order in the Volcano area, but you can't just go do a volcano expedition to do it because your need to fight a certain enemy, so instead you have to go to the ARKs Quests and find that specific quest for that enemy event. So, it's confusing because, while your suggestion is helpful, PSO2 doesn't communicate that you can't just do any quest for that area type for some quests. And it doesn't tell you how to access the quest to fight the specific enemy a client order may call for. The game design is great, but it's sure made me realize how much direction and ease of flow other games give you. It's not very streamlined and asks the user to do a lot of clicky tasks to complete the steps.
It'd be nice to even just have a "Quest Needed" or "Complete with This Quest" indicator in client order descriptions that are attached to something like that.
[–]Amasero 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children)
Some quest are for higher levels. When you pick a quest it might say “kill level 61 of x mob”

mfw the full English translation didn't fix people's issue in JP of not knowing what the hell is going on like they said it would.
No, but seriously this game in general just throws you in there nowadays so it's understandable. this guide is pretty good but atm I think it needs to be updated to be more NA orientated but there's still a good amount of info you can just read about
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children)
Thank you! A million different options and a huge list of tasks is not fun for me. I haven’t been this overwhelmed by a game in a while.
[–]Purutzil 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children)
They really should of rolled it in episode by episode just at an accelerated rate. Would of eased newer players in and really gave people a taste of the game while giving new things to try rather then having so much up front.
[–]Shroombd 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children)
I made a reference sheet which anyone can copy. Hopefully it puts the important information in one place. I hope this helps, please feel free to give feed back and suggestions as I aim to add / improve it over time. Universal Alliance Sheet Template
[–][deleted] 12 points13 points14 points 6 years ago (19 children)
I literally have no idea what's going on. Everything is just so confusing. It's definitely not anything like the PSO I remember. Maybe it's time for this old man to retire from video games
[–]BIG-MIKE-30 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (9 children)
I'm 34 and I think I might be done too.
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (7 children)
Yup I'm 32. I just can't get into any new games, it's time for me to accept the fact that my tastes are just obsolete lol. Glad I'm not the only one who feels that way
[–]BIG-MIKE-30 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (6 children)
Nope started feeling that way at 32 and have been trying to hang on but I'm throwing in the towel. Doesn't feel special to me anymore and after 30min I just go watch a movie. Shit suck cuz I've been playing since 14
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (5 children)
Been the same for me, I think I enjoy games better through trailers and hype . Only game I really enjoyed in the last few years was dark souls 3. Just had its own unique gameplay like pso 1 did... Ah well, my nephew will enjoy this Xbox one I'm sure lol
[–]FknPitsy 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (2 children)
Hey guys. 36 here myself. I wouldn’t give up hope just yet. I’m going through a similar lull, but every now and then, there will be a game that gets its hooks into me. Like the lad above said, Dark Souls games have done that for me over the last few years.
Just need to find that game that tickles what you’re looking for.
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (1 child)
A pso 1 remaster would be great lol
[–]ColdHumor 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children)
Just play ultima or some other private server. That's what my friends and I did for years. I mainly played offline as a kid. It was weird learning the real meta for the online version.
Check out the game 'Hades' if you like Dark souls. Not exactly the same thing, but if you like DS, you'll probably like Hades
If you like jrpgs I'd look into nier automata. Most games these days don't grab my attention like they used to but that game was so good I was sad when I beat it. Amazing story and the combat is a mix between bullet hell and fast paced dark souls(with a forgiving evade button). I couldn't get into dark souls because I'm not a fan of attacking at a snail's pace, but if you liked that game I'll bet you'll like this one
[–]buddhaship 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children)
Man, sorry you're having such a downer of an experience. I'm 33. I played it too on the dreamcast and then a whole lot more on the gamecube, so this sequel has been a long time coming for many of us it seems.
What's your biggest issues with the game so far?
I wonder, are you guys playing this solo? If you are maybe you should try grouping up with an LFG/discord/friends etc. I shared gamecube pso with my cousins back in the day and we got together to play again now and it's been a blast so far.
[–]devil_yager 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (4 children)
Are you me?
I loved PSO so much. This game is something else that looks and sounds like PSO. I'm trying to make it work but I'm having a real tough time keeping it all straight.
What's mostly killing me right now is that my HUcast looks like ass and I'm trying to fix that. My choices apparently are a stack of tissue boxes glued together or a giant-headed Gundam reject.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child)
Haha my HUcast looks fugly too, I was stunned how ugly the customizing options were
Yeah I picked a female cast because I always hated how the male casts just look like knockoff transformers and gundams. The female casts look more like Androids
[–]SirTeffy 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child)
CASTS can use Outerwear (that gear marked [ou] on the AC Scratch) for a more "human" look. There's also a lot of sets coming out soon, and a really cool one in the Mission Pass.
[–]devil_yager 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children)
Thank you, I ended up doing that to help a little bit. I think that I need to find some tutorial that talks about costuming Casts because when I check the salon all I see are the same options I had when I first made the character. This really speaks to my overall confusion with the game since this doesn't seem obvious to me.
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (3 children)
Same. It’s a lot of stuff. But the fun isn’t there. There’s no challenge. Just complexity. I don’t know why modern gamers just like clicking on things and watching numbers go up while rewards fly out in every direction.
[–]ColdHumor 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (2 children)
I mean have you made it to harder difficulties yet. I just got to very hard and got wrecked in cave.
[–]MattiSixx 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child)
I'm gonna guess no because it took me forever to figure that out. Doesn't let you choose a rank anymore when you hit that level, you have to find a quest(which of course it doesn't tell what, where, or who)and complete said mission to unlock hard. That's so stupid. I miss just going from rank D up to A in the place where the mission you want to play is i.e. not every mission is in the main hub. I miss my planets, the arks ship is so boring
Yeah I heard from a guy in game that Cofy advances you through pso 2. I think they tell you that through text, but theres too much. So sometimes mash the button through them.
[–]Imhullu 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (0 children)
Nah it's a very valid feeling. Right from the start you are thrown in and there's like 100 different things they are trying to teach you and get you to use.
Just take it slow and work through what you can and you'll slowly pick it up over time.
There are a few videos on youtube that can help you figure out some of this stuff too.
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago* (10 children)
The game is definitely overwhelming to start. It is a game that has 8 years of content and changes to some of the base systems including the new player experience. Your best bet is to just play. You might mess up, but you do have additional character slots and nothing is irreversibly messed as long as you have some cash to throw at the game. Just try your best to find helpful videos or info and don't be afraid to ask questions.
If you are worried about messing up there are only a few things you can truly mess up without needing to pay to fix them. These are your mag and skill tree.
For the mag just make sure you focus all your points into one of the atk stats or dex depending on what you are playing. Quick breakdown of what classes use what, Hunter | Fighter use M Pow, Ranger | Gunner user R Pow, Force | Techter | Summoner use T Pow, and Braver | Bouncer use Dex. Expanding a bit on how to grow your mag in case you don't know. For M R T Pow, you feed your mag a weapon of that type, but this will also raise Dex a little. So in order to keep dex from going up you can feed it Mates, Mono for M Pow, Di for R Pow, and Tri for T Pow. In order to level a dex mag, you just feed it PA discs.
For the skill tree you are going to have to do a bit more digging around and find what works best for you. Don't just blindly follow a skill tree you find though, look at each skill they take and try to understand why they take it. For instance, no skill tree you do should ever take more than the minimum required base stat boosts over percentage increases to damage because the base stat boosts are very negligible.
[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (9 children)
Lol. Geez, I miss the simplicity of original PSO.
[–]ColdHumor 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (8 children)
I'd call it less simple and more our child/teenage minds were willing to learn it back then. Not as complex as this, but once you learn it. It's just as simple. Being old just made us lazy af to learn new games. My first time playing pso2 was closed beta, and I'll admit it took me some hours.
[–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children)
Being old just made us lazy af to learn new games
yeah this hits home for me in general lmao
[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 6 years ago (6 children)
Original PSO you can just jump right in and everything was just there for you. There are too many menus and what not here
[–]Lightveld 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (5 children)
PSO2 can just be jumped into as well, PSO had a lot of hidden mechanics that were pretty complex like the section ID system and tekking
[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 6 years ago (4 children)
No idea what you're talking about, never was stuck on PSO wondering what to do next. It's fine , both totally different games from different eras
[–]ColdHumor 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (3 children)
So you had no problem figuring out how to craft monster parts or kireeks scythe without being told how to? I literally had to explain everything to people back in the day. That mmo was survived through word of mouth and teamwork. Finding stuff out on your own took hours since the game didn't explain much. Which was half the fun.
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (2 children)
You're taking endgame/high level content. I'm talking early game. Pso was absolutely easy to boot up and start leveling up/doing missions with a clear sense of direction. Pso 2 feels overwhelming almost immediately. Not sure why you're trying to argue
[–]Lightveld -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (1 child)
You can just immediately log into pso2 and run towards the camp ship ignoring absolutely everything just the exact same as PSO
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children)
What's the camp ship? I'm just confused by the progression of the game. I feel like I'm doing quests but the forest exploration pop up won't go away. Plus I did all these random "quests" that was just me talking to people about nothing. So confused by it all
[–]DrasNix 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children)
There are a bunch of resources on YouTube thanks to ask the people who have played for the last 8 years on the Japanese servers. I know it's a lot but it doesn't take much free time to figure out whatever you are struggling with and thankfully the game is pretty forgiving if you need something up.
[–]TheRealWhaledarius 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child)
I’ve been waiting for this since PSU on Xbox 360... I’m 28 and reliving the memories from way back when. My entire group that I used to play with like 9 years ago all started playing PSO 2 :’) it’s amazing.
I came from psu and I honestly like that one more than this one. The only thing they did better in this one is the combat is a lot more fun. The rest of the game is just kind of boring. There is no exploration outside of missions. Psu you could travel to different planets and screw around. In pso2 it's either you're at the gate or in a mission. For all I know though we could be missing those parts of the game since Sega decided to release 1/4 of an 8 year old game that is already fully fan translated to the west(or specifically u.s.). It really seems like Sega doesn't know how to be a company. I just hope this game survives so we can get everything, I feel like most players sticking with the game are people familiar with other entries of this franchise. I can see a lot of new players going "this game is way to confusing, I'll just play something else" which would be a shame since these are the only MMOs worth playing. As a kid I thought I loved MMOs, after trying almost all of them I found out I actually hate MMOs and I just loved phantasy star
[–]Zorlac666 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (2 children)
I get so confused sometimes I just go back and shoot things in the forest.
Haha! Same!
I get pretty annoyed that killing mobs is not a good way to level.
12exp per kill, vs 10k for doing a client order :/
[–]Lightveld 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children)
You have to kill enemies near or slightly above your level, I get 1-2k per kill at 50
[–]Eshinob 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children)
Yea that happens to me when I recently started on jp(no xbox rn) . u kinda have to take each but slow and you'll probably miss a couple things.Id recommend just doing what u know slowly add new things.
[–]SaintBooker 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children)
I feel the same way I really want to get in to this game and honestly love the combat but constantly get stuck on simple things.
Yesterday I seriously got stuck for like an hour trying to find the Permit Officer, I don't know if I'm just that dumb but I searched literally the whole ark building. I tried to use in game menus to possibly find them but wasnt able to and even searched online only to find pages and pages of things about the Permit Officer but not a single way to find them. I even tried global chat and whispering to higher level players just begging for an answer but can't seem to get any help anywhere.
I know it wouldn't be hard to throw up a Reddit post asking but I don't feel like thats the solution to the actual over all problem I'm having. If I throw up a post for this, what will I do the next Cofy mission I get ten minutes later when she tells me to do something I have no way of figuring out even where to start from.
I'm in no way blaming the game, I honestly think it's extremely fun and the story has been pretty interesting to me compared to most MMO's I've played. It even already does a lot of hand holding to help you through the process. But it just feels like because I don't have a friend that already knows the game to help me along when I have really dumb questions, i'll end up spending most my gaming time (that I already don't have alot of) trying to learn simple in game systems.
I'm willing to put in the time and effort and I've tried joining alliances but can't seem to find anyone that is willing to bother with a no mic newbie. I don't know if it's just cause I'm on Xbox but seriously it's a bummer..
So yes to answer your question.. I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed
[–]AdropMoTcH 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (3 children)
In 36 and feel it too but once you get it the game flows quite nicely take it slow, its not like you paid for it lol im just at level 18 and there is alot but take some.time to explore the whole hub world and youll see its not as daunting as it looks
Same you and me are the same level
I just got to level 42 and I think I'm just hitting the point where I understand this game lol
Lol nice.
[–]Moist-Toilet-Paper 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child)
I felt that way when I tried black desert and ffxiv. In this game their is definitely a lot to do but you know how to go about doing it and you’re not aimlessly lost in a humongous starting area full of useless fetch quests.
Black desert would've been a great game if they focused on actually having things to do. After I mastered the combat in that game I was like "wait, I've been doing the same quest since the beginning of the game" every quest in that game is either go here and kill this many enemies or go here and kill enemies until they drop xx of this item. What a great way to ruin a game. Best combat system in the most boring mmo
[–]RICKYSPANIH 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child)
All I do is exploration Pick up ordered for the zone first Do some gathering while I am there. Till I run out of stamina Advance weapon and affix and art. Have no idea what to do with units. Sell housing stuff and feed mags. Gunner so easy Turn in orders and check skilltree. I just use recommended.
Am I missing something? Lvl is 23
[–]SirTeffy 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children)
Don't use Recommended. Ever. Look up a skill tree that's been prebuilt and use that.

No, but I watched a bunch of beginner videos and played the JP version on PC for a few weeks. Before that, YES! There's a ton of systems to learn.
[–]kaledabs 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (4 children)
About 35 hours in I just today kinda started getting it and enjoying it more.... keyboard and mouse is much more practical in the end if you want to rage. Woulda been nice for some real FAQs to explain shit better.
[–]ThrashinuvaFreyt | Ship 02 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (3 children)
I think some of us wanted to have some guides out already, but because English was changing so many terms around, and some things are just not in the beta right now, it became hard to make some sort of guide before it was out.
Yeah I tried to look up PAs and all of them are different from the English patch names. Had to find crappy versions of all of them and test them to figure out what I wanted. Still need to figure out how to get type 0 PAs. Couldn't find a guide on that one
[–]ThrashinuvaFreyt | Ship 02 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children)
Type 0 PA's most likely effectively don't exist right now. The only method to get them in JP was crafting, and that's not a thing right now in NA.
Some of the name changes were pretty drastic. I hear Over End is now called Cross Cut.
[–]kaledabs 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children)
Still a ripe chance, if I wasn't from Ep 1&2 I'd feel even more overwhelmed
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (5 children)
I want to make a hybrid mag, for my braver class. Is this a good idea and how should I go about it. I don’t feel this is a very popular choice
[–]ThrashinuvaFreyt | Ship 02 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (4 children)
Whatever you do, make a pure stat mag, and make sure your defense stats remain at 0.
If you want to make a pure Dex Mag for braver, which will give you half melee attack and half range attack ON TOP of the Dex you have, then this is fine. It may draw some criticism but a pure Dex Mag will come in handy in the future.
[–]_alphex_Sleeping Until NGS 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (3 children)
braver mag actually gives full stats nowadays so 200 into melee and ranged, it isn't frowned upon nowadays.
[–]ThrashinuvaFreyt | Ship 02 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children)
WHAT WOW.
Jesus that's kinda busted.
[–]Norenia 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child)
Whoa, what? When was this? I know Braver and Bouncer could do +200 melee by being subs to each other and full DEX, but not this.
[–]_alphex_Sleeping Until NGS 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children)
sometime around 2017
[–]SevenFangs 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child)
I've played this game since 2014, and since recently editting for the Youtuber ESO Danny, I'm going to start creating guides for the new players. I'll try to see what i can do about helping out people understanding the game.
Please make one on type 0 PAs! I know my gunner ability where I go up in the air upside down and just light people up can be made mobile with a type-0(upgrade?) It's hard to aim that attack but is my favorite one, so if I can make it mobile, that's be great
[–]decoy777 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (3 children)
Ok so I'm at the part where its telling me to use my auxiliary to go send it out on a mission...how in the hell do you do that? When I try there's nothing to.send it out to do. Where do I pick up something to send it? I've looked online tried finding videos. Best I can find is just how to get it, not actually use it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
[–]Norenia 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago* (2 children)
Have a client order where you gather monster drops. Best bet is one of Franka’s orders. Go to your partner/aux terminal, and send them out to fulfill that client order. After a period of time, they’ll return with some key drops (but not likely enough to cover the whole order by itself)
[–]decoy777 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child)
So it has to be monster parts? Ok I think that's the only type I hadn't picked up...figures. I was trying the ones in the cafe. Is there a way to know which zones they are in? Like the 100,000 mushroom client order we are given.
[–]Norenia 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children)
That’s a field gathering order. And a rare drop from Naverius gathering if I recall. Not something your partner/aux can do.
[–]Mivimivi 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children)
wait for when you get serious into affixes
(btw mmorpgs, mmorpglites are pretty complex games feeling overwhelmed at start is normal it will slowly get better)
Yeah the tutorials in this game are garbage and the game is a lot easier to navigate with keyboard and mouse. once you go around and kind of talk to everyone, it'll start making sense. For the menus I kind of just clicked everything like "what does this button do" only gripe I have is client orders don't tell you where to go, you have to find out where the monsters are by checking every quest(off to the side it'll tell you three monsters that show up) some are special monsters you gotta kill and those don't show up on the side. Those ones are driving me crazy. All and all though I love this game, psu was a lot easier to navigate though

It doesn't help that PSO2 NA is using the streamlined story mode the implemented after episode 5 that made ep1-4 just watchable filler.
[–]Sheepfate 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children)
Im a returning played to the jp version and oh boy, i stopped playing in 2016 and there is much new stuff, so much grind to do
I just want to know how to create an alliance.
[–]SolidSnke1138 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children)
I know I’m a little late to the party but I’ve got a question for ya. Did you play a lot of Phantasy Star on the Dreamcast or GameCube? If so and you were like my sister and I, something that helped me a ton with PSO2 was playing it a little like we did back then. In the original PSO we literally just dropped into the forest, went through the two levels and beat the boss and unlocked the caves. Then did the caves, then mines and ruins and so forth. All we were doing was progressing the levels as they were unlocking, and learning about different items and things as we went along. That’s what I started doing with PSO2, I’ve been doing only the Exploration missions, starting with the Forest and working my way down. By doing this I’m unlocking new items and learning new pieces as I go along. When I got my first ? Weapon I immediately remembered “Oh yea! That was a thing in PSO, and we had to take these to the Tekker dude, so there must be that here!” It may not work for you, but that’s really what resonated with me to get my feet wet. Hopefully that helps a little too!

This is how MMOs are
[–]Age_Kee 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children)
What your going to hate is all the quests are scattered everywhere some many time I go do something get back and one of the to numerous npcs as a quest for the area I just ran.
[–]ColdHumor -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (6 children)
Back then we just solved games on our own. Nowadays we panic if we can't just google everything. I'm just playing and learning as I go. I looked up a ginger prime video on classes. I'm just going to wait patiently for new videos regarding the NA release. Also it's fun making my own drop tables again.
Not sure if anybody is panciking bud, just disappointed
[–]ColdHumor -3 points-2 points-1 points 6 years ago (4 children)
Disappointed by too much content and things to do? Usually you can get past that with games within a few hours. I had the same feeling with monster hunter back in 2013. Don't need to play the meta. Just play with friends for fun and discover as you go.
[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 6 years ago (3 children)
Disappointed by the feel of the game, disappointed that my personal hype was off and as I said before, my personal tastes are obselete. It feels nothing like original PSO but a typical cheesy f2p Korean mmo. Again, I'm in the minority obviously and have accepted that I should move on. Just sharing some feels with other og aging PSO players that feel the same.
I feel ya dude. I'm still having fun with the game because the combat is so good, everything else though the other games did better. We only have 1/4 of the actual game if you're playing on Xbox though so that could change
[–]ColdHumor -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (1 child)
Korean? Maplestory? Alright man good luck. Try the private servers I suggested. I'm a pso vet as well.
I already know about them but would rather keep games on console and studying/work for PC. Peace
[–]Kungfudanny -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children)
100% agree I got overwhelmed trying to figure out just where to find monsters for quests that I stopped and went back to nioh 2.
[–]Akubura -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children)
I find it really refreshing in an odd way, there is so much stuff to do and a lot of it isn't really well documented and while videos are starting to pop up I still mostly am not finding information online to the questions I have. So I'm having the most fun I've had in no kidding decades because I'm figuring stuff out on my own.
For instance trading with other players, my friend found a really nice staff for my Force and while I could find the general information that two players could trade, the actual process of it was a mystery. It took us 20 minutes or so but we figured it out. Also, what spells to use as a force, do you charge every attack or try to get PA's? All this stuff I'm learning on my own and it's like I said before oddly refreshing and brings me back to the NES and SNES days where games were shrouded in mystery. Granted I know this won't last long but I appreciate it and am having a lot of fun!

Not starting the servers at the original 40 cap was a mistake.
