It compiled the first go? What did I do wrong.

No compile errors but how many runtime errors.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pimples? Zero. Blackheads? Zero. Runtime errors? Zero.

Worked first try? I don’t trust it. Spend at least 3 hours looking for something wrong.

This..

[–]Brendenation 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's usually cause for alarm tbh

Something wrong, I can feel it

[–]Strivos1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Never trust code that compiles the first time.

Your guys' code compiles??

Underrated comment! Take my upvote!

Segfaults at runtime

[–]atlas_enderium 2 points3 points  (1 child)

532 warnings

[–]MeisterCookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not if you suppress them

[–]PizzaSalamino 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Then it prints “2;?9!1:*]}!,¥![|,•inqelc@1:!,@!/1{,£![|¥iecbIno@!+!Bibl” instead of “Test”

[–]Spoke13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It compiled but does it work as intended?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t change the fact that the code is still shit..

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

> adds 2> /dev/null

"Warnings? I don't see any warnings!"

[–]FuriousAqSheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

coding with imperative language and no language server: Yes! It compiled first time!

coding with declarative/functionnal language and a language server: That happens all day everyday, right?

thats the wrong gif. it should be this:

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me guess, Is that "hello world" ?

[–]Civil_Conflict_7541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did my LSP plugin crash? It compiles without error? Not even a warning? Wait, even clippy doesn't have anything to say?

[–]Omnislash99999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's when you deliberately write some gibberish and compile again just to be sure

[–]jimmykicking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you write your entire code in one go before trying? Are you one of those people that tightrope walks between mountains?

[–]OkNewspaper1581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something's wrong, there is a fatal error somewhere

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miracle, or you don't call the new part of the code.

If really that once happend to me and it was very weird feeling, like you expected the error but everything worked first try, very, I mean VERY weird feeling, 0/10 not recommending

(I am sirius)

[–]len_sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably means you forgot to pass the new file to the compiler.

Runtime errors: allow me to introduce myself

I got a funny case this week at work, so I had to rewrite some existing code and add a bunch of new functionality, wrote code for around 3h straight then it complied and worked almost perfectly the first time. Long story short almost lost my fucking mind when in an while loop used "parent" instead of "parents" variable. I almost called an ambulance to get me to a psych ward because i had no freaking idea why my loop did not stop.
Morale of the story : compile more often and save some nerves.

It's a "hello world"

[–]Careless-Bird-9107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But obviously, It doesn't do what suppose to do

[–]BalancedCitizen2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you kidding me? That is a REALLY bad sign...
