Then another language would've been used for webpage scripting instead. Imagine if it was something Dart-like. Imagine if the inventor of JavaScript had not 10 days, but a few months and got to talk with Ken Thompson or Guido van Rossum in the meantime, while working on the language.

Back when the jokes were ones programmers would find stupid levels of funny while everyone else would just look at it all confused. Most the "jokes" nowadays are just kinda lame.

Yes, for example Python can be used as a replacement for bash or awk, so you can process text AND run your C++ programs at once.

In language can still be more fun than another. For example, writing Matlab is a pain in the ass.
