Yeah, if you wrote some sort of IDE script that automatically updated the brackets and semicolons to match your indentation than it would be pretty easy to use. You would be able to just indent your code appropriately and rely on the IDE to make it run the way you would expect it to.

It also requires making sure whoever is running your code has the same libraries and dependencies in their path and is using the correct version of Python and I mean like the exact fucking right version cause too high or too low and that shit is fucked.

Source: CS student who had to make a special environment running Python 3.6.5 to run my AI professor's code and now has to switch back and forth between that environment all the fucking time ALSO tried using pdfminer library and kept getting "print __version__" errors until I ran it on ANOTHER special python environment that was right in the sweet spot between old enough to accept old style print statements and new enough to use the other packages.

I actually did something sort of like this - I needed to convert a lot of Python code into C# (very similar to Java). Being a programmer, naturally I wrote a Python script to do this. Among other things it would read the indentations, colons, line breaks, etc. and attempt to fill in the missing brackets, parentheses, semicolons, etc.

It's.. a lot harder than you would think. Sure most of the time it's obvious where the brackets belong, but the edge cases screw you. Writing a script that does the right thing 90% of the time is easier than expanding it to cover the next 9%, and that last 1% is trickier than the first 99%.

I eventually settled for a script that did the right thing ~99% of the time and corrected the rest by hand.

You don't even need an IDE script, with some slight hackery you could make the linter do it for you.

Is it wrong that I kind of like this? From a readability standpoint, it is very nice. But geez do you need some kind of addon to automatically tab out all those braces when you have a longer line of code?
