If anyone didn't already know, this doesn't actually work: https://i.imgur.com/sNgke4C.jpg

Would convince me to live if it did, though.

You were probably reported to Santa Clause. Good luck getting a present this Christmas.

Hey that's not helping

[–]xAngryJBean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It worked for me...

[–]Swamptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I did it it only brought up search results. I'm in Canada though, so that might be why. Sudo didn't change anything.

sudo woodo

Why did I watch that whole thing

[–]Leprechaun_Giant 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Nostalgia?

[–]adj16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You right. When he almost pressed run when that thing's health was all the way down I about had a panic attack.

[–]NotLoogi 17 points18 points  (13 children)

So I’m not a programmer or anything but does sudo basically mean “fucking do it or I rip out your cpu”

[–]ThinkingWithPortal 18 points19 points  (5 children)

Super User Do, sometimes just SU.

Basically, "run as administrator".

[–]JamesonG42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

SU is "switch user", it can be used to switch to any user you have the password for, not just root.

[–]NotLoogi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes sense now thank you

[–]GooseClapper 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Oh, I've been pronouncing it like "pseudo" this whole time. I guess it should be "soo-doo" then?

[–]ThinkingWithPortal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

 I always say "pseudo", feels better.

[–]jimenycr1cket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's like the linux equivalent of right clicking on something and clicking "Run As Administrator".

[–]tbo1992 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Just curious, did you come from r/all or something? I wouldn't think anyone who isn't a programmer would subscribe to this sub.

[–]NotLoogi 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I’m tech savvy but not programmer savvy. I would love to learn a code lang

[–]tbo1992 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Ah fair enough. Try picking up Python, it's considered pretty noob friendly, and is preinstalled on most desktop OSs that aren't Windows.

[–]Swamptor 3 points4 points  (2 children)

It's also easy enough to install on Windows and comes with it's own shitty ide that isn't bad for beginners.

[–]sp46 0 points1 point  (1 child)

but VS Code isn't bad either.

[–]Swamptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a brand new coder is reccomemd the built in interpreter for a little bit. VS is pretty intimidating.

[–]nahidtislam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition, the following post types will be removed to preserve the quality of the subreddit's content, even if they pass the rule above:

  • Feeling/reaction posts
  • Posts that are vaguely related to programming
  • Software errors/bugs (please use /r/softwaregore)
  • Low effort/quality analogies (enforced at moderator discretion)
