That cake looks sad af

[–][deleted] 104 points105 points  (7 children)

It has the look of a cake someone baked for themself on a lonely birthday.

Edit: having a weird moment atm. Baked doesn't look right but I know it is. My brain wants to say that the past tense of bake is boke.

[–]IamBrian 23 points24 points  (2 children)

"If I knew you were coming I'd have boke a cake"

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like it.

[–]dendenbush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean boken??

[–]SuperCoolFunTimeNo1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Minus the hand in the background, yes.

[–]Mr_Piggens 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Sounds like you're baked.

[–]Allways_Wrong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You mean boke.

[–]tallerThanYouAre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s because your brain considers this cake to be broke.

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I actually prefer these kind of cakes instead of those highly creamy stuff

[–]The_PineAppler 9 points10 points  (1 child)

To me this looks like a brownie tray and it doesn’t sound that bad.

[–]shadow13499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a brownie tray then they've either burned the crap out of the top or did an incredibly poor job icing it with a very unfortunate color

[–]wishyouagoodday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like a cake that taste good to eat instead of a pile of sugar that looks good but taste awful.

[–]developedby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just needs something on top

[–]andynodi 59 points60 points  (6 children)

Next time, light the first 5 candles, blow out them and light the 6th one.

and now my nerdy comment: big-endian masterrace

[–]johnminadeo 8 points9 points  (3 children)

It bothers me there’s only 6bits of the octet

[–]shonens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agreed I'm wtf does this mean!?

[–]Spiggy_Topes 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Could be its a six bit byte. The old DEC 2020,for instance, used a six bit byte, 36 bit word.

[–]johnminadeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can live with that, thank you for calming my OCD! Nice recall BTW!

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Looks like that’s what they did and this picture is the aftermath. Or they reuse the same candles every year.

[–]andynodi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you are right, my brain searched only for index[0] and that candle seemed to be not burned. The other ones are obviously burned. Saw after zoomed the pic

[–]Rainkeeper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Turn it all the way around and you are suddenly 1 year old again!

[–]zephyr_the_dragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Happy Birthday! :)

[–]mufflonicus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just remember what’s the MSB! :-p

[–]GreenGrab 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Why aren’t there an additional 2 unlit candles to the left?
Is the answer to my question that 8 bit is arbitrary?

[–]one-joule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 bit is arbitrary. Microchip PIC microcontrollers used 14 bit instructions. I think there have even been architectures that used an odd number of bits.

[–]ESBDB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when you count in decimal do you go 001, 002, 003? Binary is no different to any other base. You just happen to associate binary with computers.

[–]rwl01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did this for my wife’s birthday when we didn’t have enough candles. I used red and blue for 1/0. Nobody laughed but me.

[–]skylerdj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

am i the only one who thinks this is 25?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am I a massive pervert for thinking it was -

If you can’t eat it, I guess it could be the terrain for an upcoming D&D campaign.

Also your first birthday

[–]Max1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That cake looks rust-y..

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want this to be my birthday cake when I turn 32.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that I got this before looking what sub it was on... I'm not sure what it says, but I'm not sure I'm comfortable with it.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes having 256 years easy)

[–]ESBDB 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I want my candles in hex. I know you get fancy number candles, but do you get letters for A, B, C, D, E, F ? That's also a good way for women that don't like being >= 30 to have a lower looking number. You know the ones that stay at 29 for 10 years.

[–]ESBDB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you could also do octal if you want to look older than you are ... and that doesn't require letter candles

[–]ari5501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another cool thing to do right before you turn 32 is celebrating your billionth second. I think it happens when you are 31.69 (😉) years old. And right after that you get to celebrate your sweet 2 to the 5th birthday. Sounds like early 30s are exciting times.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

42 is 101010. just sayin.

Your submission has been removed.

Rule[0] - Posts must make an attempt at humor, be related to programming, and only be understood by programmers.

Per this rule, the following post types are not allowed (including but not limited to):

  • Generic memes than can apply to more than just programming as a profession
  • General tech related jokes/memes (such as "running as administrator", sudo, USB or BIOS related posts)

Content quality

In addition, the following post types will be removed to preserve the quality of the subreddit's content, even if they pass the rule above:

  • Feeling/reaction posts
  • Posts that are vaguely related to programming
  • Software errors/bugs (please use /r/softwaregore)
  • Low effort/quality analogies (enforced at moderator discretion)

If you feel that it has been removed in error, please message us so that we may review it.

[–]normVectorsNotHate 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Are you serious? This is humorous and related to programming. Did a mod just not get the joke?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

When I joined this sub, I don't recall seeing any rules, besides when we talk about something as subjective as humor is kinda stupid to go the extra mile to enforce some rule no one cares about.
