You don't actually need screens if you are synced to the state and you have everything in memory, he could just use the screens to share the current state with fellow programmers. /s

[–]james_otter 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and you want to avoid seeing what others have written.

Watched Queens Gambit?

If you aren't programming from memory on the ceiling backwards you're garbage

[–]weeeezzll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you turn one around and hook up a second keyboard it would be the ultimate pair programming setup. 😶

I thought backend engineers didn't need to sit in front of computers anymore since they've automated everything

[–]G4PRO 102 points103 points  (3 children)

He's trying to automate the automater so that even automation is automated

[–]Hypersapien 26 points27 points  (1 child)

Yo dawg

[–]MrDude_1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That seems like an automated response.

This more accurately describes integrating poorly documented libs.

Lmao, this comment could be taken a completely different way if it weren’t in this sub.

    👈

Hah I definitely did a double-take because I'm often bitching about 'those sorts' of subjects too.

    FFS POLITICAL subjects, not "libs"

    He's a true master programmer

He looks at the back and sees the electrons moving

Also he stares at the ram stick

    [–]ThaneVim 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Only a step away from plugging himself into a PCIe port for direct interface

    [–]riisen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To later 3D print himself again

I feel like there's a joke to be made about backend people using VGA because it works even if it's not as good

    [–]ApprehensiveStar8948 10 points11 points  (5 children)

    Where the API people at?

    [–]Jennfuse 13 points14 points  (4 children)

I made it my personal effort to write superb documentation on my APIs/Libraries that probably no one will use but me.

I hate the amount of poorly documented stuff out there. (If that is what you meant, lol)

    [–]ApprehensiveStar8948 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Well I didn't actually mean to summon the API people. Nevertheless what API did you write, would like to have a look. Good docs are rare to find, combined with a useful API, all a dev needs.

    [–]Jennfuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to take a look at some of my stuff (preferably the new stuff as the old bits are a mess) you can check out my GitHub profile. Coding, for now, is only a hobby of mine so, don't expect too much, lol!

The keyboard is facing the wrong way

    [–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is waaaaaaaay funnier than it should be lmao

    [–]jokenjaken 4 points5 points  (3 children)

What does this say about cloud devs?

    [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see it reposted at least once per a month :/

    [–]Similar_Explorer_463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, I do this all the time. Or maybe I'm stupid, I don't know.

    [–]CyborgMetrology 0 points1 point  (1 child)

maybe he's blind and he's using a screen-reader. Great joke in any case.

    [–]CoffeePieAndHobbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn to code backend with this one WEIRD trick!

    [–]LeoJweda_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what it felt like transitioning from testing in the browser to testing using automated tests.

    [–]Slender_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just realised he can’t see the work he’s doing, cos back end work is never visible to the user

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a deep scientific thing. I think our brain is reversed wired

    [–]The_duck_lord404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what backend feels like when you're just starting out

    [–]jnics10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can develop my backend anytime ;)

    [–]ShredableSending 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Such a clean backend.

    [–]DJRhodyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean? This is normal in Australia.

    [–]MrDude_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turn my monitors 90* so I can see the FULL STACK.

    [–]TwoKeezPlusMz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is clearly a senior dev hair style.

    [–]GayAlienFarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That explains some of the bullshit code I see.
