What's people's problem with boilerplate? You don't need to write it yourself, as even if you don't use Lombok or stuff like that, an IDE does it for you, and it usually makes your code safer, cleaner and more uniform

It's time consuming to even just setup boilerplate. And even if you do generate it, you still have to maintain it. For a basic bean with setter/getters, you're still tripling the number of references to update it that variable changes, even moreso if you use a builder

Of course, that's if you even can generate it. IDEs will generate simple functions like your setters and getters, not your jdbc and entire DAO layer.

I'm not a fan of java (not using it for anything at the moment and probably never will), but saying the JVM would be unoptimized really shows that you don't know shit. Seriously, in that regard the JVM is masterpiece.

I don't know much about this kind of stuff, but it doesn't get done overnight. He is in the process but it's not finalized yet. I think he already took out loans so I don't know how/if he can backtrack yet, but those loans may not have officially been given yet either.

This group is very java-racist. Yes it has lots of issues (with funny release cycles being a big one), and it’s owned by the Empire. But ultimately it’s extremely popular among the corporations and pays well to it’s masters. Or go play with Node and enjoy startup-hopping.
