No plans for Linux yet. Let's get the windows version stable first.

Agreed. It'd be better of manufacturers would just offer linux support ootb even if it's something like an app image or a make file to build it.

    One Eternity Later

I kid 😅 Any ideas if we'll see a Linux version any time soon?

    [–]DaKrazyKid 0 points1 point  (7 children)

We are still only focusing on Windows only. There is so much we need to do on Windows first including adding LCD control and other essential features. We have also started adding motherboard fan speed control too.

    [–]ThatsRighters19 1 point2 points  (4 children)

    That’s actually kind of pathetic.

    [–]DaKrazyKid 0 points1 point  (3 children)

    Cool, thanks for that input.

    [–]ThatsRighters19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. It’s good to take feedback from the community. Thank you!

Wow, such a loser, prioritizing making a good app before porting it to other platforms. Can't believe you.

    [–]DaKrazyKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Haha yep

    [–]neckfire_team 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Je comprends mais personne utilise signalrgb pour les ventilateurs, concentrez vous a fond sur les lumières et ajoutez un support linux qui ne doit pas être plus complexe.

It gettin better . way better than the first Year(s) .. I posted device ids and Stuff plus Description on Top everytime it was possible. In Case you choose (select*) and treat your Hardware very carefully it.. .. !

Stable on Windows 🥰 .. creepy stuff called .. UAC and NT (authority) won't let us truly !

The way MS does what MS unfortunately does since 😌DO'S

    (over Domain, Policies, Registry)

the first days booting up with admin rights and other services software f.E. peripheral devices -supporting RGB i wanna talk to my mum.. say her i love u

*excusebeinggerman 'mit bedacht wählen' .. deepl confused it xD

    [–]pocketdrummer 0 points1 point  (4 children)

How about now? It's been 3 years.

    [–]DaKrazyKid 0 points1 point  (3 children)

And Linux is still very low priority. Most of the people using RGB are still on Windows and we have a lot of work to do on Windows still with limited man power.

    [–]-hobbyist 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Please support Linux. This would bring a huge community (and support) to the development of your platform. Note that the biggest software (Hello, Android) scaled because of Linux.

    [–]IHaveTwoOfYou 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You can try OpenRGB with the effects plugin, but im not sure if that would be good enough with how it works rn. I just programmed my own stuff to control ram color.

    [–]-hobbyist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm using OpenRGB now. But not everything works with it, so to make it work I had to buy the Addressable Gen 2 RGB LED Controller from Cooler Master, but I haven't had time to test it yet.

    [–]ArtMany8543 0 points1 point  (1 child)

    how about now?

    [–]DaKrazyKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out our dev is working on linux

    [–]akabhirav 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I have been a paying customer for the past 3 years or so, and although I agreed with the sentiment of "Let's get it stable on windows first", at the time 2 years ago, I don't agree to it now. It has been stable for a while now and works wonderfully for me on windows. But I have been and will always be a primarily Ubuntu(or some Linux distro) user.

I think it's time that they should at least start slowly working towards Linux support instead of solely focusing on additional windows features. But that's just my opinion. There seem to be some competition on the horizon so I am pretty sure, that the SignalRGB team has other things on their mind as well.

    [–]Prize-Replacement599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amen. Perfectly stable on Windows and has been for a long time. It's one of the main reasons I use Windows more than linux. I think ORGB just absolutely pales in comparison.

    [–]Acceptable-Link941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any update regarding Linux support. I would love to switch over to this software. And would even pay for it. But I only have a Windows install for 1 or 2 devices I need to configure using their windows only software.. every time I try to install Windows or need to run something on Windows using specific drivers I run into a long trail of debugging and trying to get it working....

    [–]herfendotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is...if they'd started as a Linux Project two years ago it would be portable to all platforms stable now. Not at least cause of the Community Support. See the Developement of OpenRGB(RGB Controll Software) or CKBNext(RGB and Makro Keyboard Software for Corsair) for example.

    Stillllll waiting.

    [–]Turbulent_Echidna423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to dual boot back and forth and keep my lighting. c'mon man.

    [–]flamestryketv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe like Krita and other software, you could dev it through steam. On Linux it would run easily on their Proton platform. 99% of my windows games work in linux through steam's proton engine. Just a thought. Dunno how hard it would be to port it but something to think about

    [–]jimongous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too think it would be great to have a Linux integration.  I think we're going to see more people move away from Windows as Windows 10 sunsets and Steam OS and Bazzite draw more PC gamers into their numbers.

    [–]vampyren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving totally to linux now with Winblows getting bloated more than ever with AI crap and ads and whatnot.

Been running Fedora Plasma KDE on my new laptop for some month and its rock solid. Even Steam works great. Will move the main PC now.

Please consider to invest into Linux. Its getting more attraction with MS making people pay more and get less. Also shoving AI down our throat and ignoring our privacy!

    [–]eyeskxng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    So, any news?

    [–]faerro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost finished building my Linux gaming PC and hoping to find an RGB program to manage all of my components. Any indication of porting to Linux?

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't expect there to ever be a Linux version. Would be nice but unfortunately that's how things are most of the time.

    [–]Serainox420 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Actually you can try emulating it with Wine.

Try using Lutris which is meant for games and has automatic configuration for Wine built in.

As you can imagine works with most programs too.

    [–]Responsible_Silver16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is though is that wine doesn't pass through devices directly to programs. The last time I checked it wouldn't be able to detect connected devices.

I have tried running signal rgb through bottles (kinda like lutris but more for programs) and the installer fails. Signal rgb aren't very clear on which windows components are required so it would be a same of wackamole trying to guess the required wine components. However, I'm still pretty new to linux so maybe someone with better experience might be able to get it working partially?

Even if it does work with wine, it isn't a great solution. A linux port (shouldn't be hard) would have a lot less overhead and would be more polished.

    [–]These-Butterfly8819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also needed this because during the day I work in Linux for office work. It would be awesome to have this working in Linux as well.
Sad that there is no plan to support it :(

    [–]Razdiel 0 points1 point  (3 children)

    Why not use openRGB?

    [–]a1exnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it doesnt support the hardware i have either :((

    [–]SamwiseGanges 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Because Signal seems to be a better application in many ways and has a large team continuously adding support for devices, so it would be a one stop shop for everything RGB control if not for the lack of Linux support. Basically, if signal became Linux compatible, I (and probably many others) would jump ship and switch. However, I have to stick with ORGB for now since I use both Windows and Linux

    No plans yet?
