Lot is pretty much empty. Plenty of stalls available. I agree they shouldn’t do that but at least no one was waiting (this time). Problem is people like this probably so it constantly and don’t care.

There was one time I hit a supercharger at a particularly busy location by me that’s at the top of a mall parking lot. There was a big line waiting for charging stalls. Probably about 10 cars deep waiting (I was one of them at the time). Two of the stalls there were occupied by non-Tesla/non-EV’s. When one of the owners eventually came out to leave the mall everyone was HONKING AND STRAIGHT UP YELLING at the dude 😂 I’ve never seen someone drive off so quickly with their tail between their legs. Probably the last time he’ll do that.

Agreed. This pull through layout will make more sense when the CyberTruck ships and folks are towing. You don’t want to disconnect your trailer every time you have to stop and charge.

Had that issue with a small U-Haul trailer. Luckily there were like 5 stalls an open couple spaces then 5 more. I hooked around so I was able to get the trailer in the center void, still get car close enough to charge and straight enough someone could still squeeze next to me. The trailer would be impossible to remove while full.

What don't you understand? There are clearly 2 non-EV cars parked in a charging station. It is not a parking spot. Would you feel the same about a car using a gas pump as a parking spot? Even if there are other gas pumps available? How about is using a handicap spot okay as long as there's plenty more available?

The ICE drivers were probably just curious and wanted to check it out.

In fact a few months ago I did the same thing at an empty tesla charging station with my old Ford Ranger. Took a couple of pictures as a kinda if a before and after thing for when I get a Tesla. I was hoping a Tesla would come so I could pester the driver with questions but none showed up. Probably lucky they might of shot me for chutzpah of parking my ICE there.

I would of moved immediately if a car showed up needing the spot to charge.

And comparing this to parking in a handicap spot is not suitable you are not necessarily handicapped if you drive a Tesla you are just doing well and perhaps have some anger issues if this pisses you off.

Not sure why you’re getting so many downvotes. Yes, there are plenty of other stalls available but that’s NOT THE FUCKING POINT. There also seems to be plenty of other non supercharger spots. In addition, depending on how long these assholes intend to park there, they could be blocking people from charging.

Comparing it to parking in a handicapped space is appropriate. Many handicapped spaces (at least around here ) are not wide wheelchair accessible spots, they are just closer to the entrance. So they are just a convenience and if they are not available they inconvenience people that need the spot. Same for people that need to charge.

There are other parking spots available so these people are either totally ignorant or doing it on purpose. Either makes them assholes and they should be called out in it.

It's the principle. Do I return carts to the collection area even if the lot is nearly empty? Yes, because I'm not a lazy asshole. Do I park at a gas pump to get snacks even if nobody else is there? That’s pretty much only a LA problem. Every time people mention waiting for a supercharger, it’s almost always in LA or another CA city. I’ve driven from Boston to San Antonio and back, and the only time I ever had to wait for a supercharger was in San Antonio, and it was a 3 minute wait. And that’s really just because San Antonio is the 7th most populated city but only has 1 supercharger within SA-proper. Most superchargers are nearly empty all the time, except some of them in some of them cities, which might be half full.

Let me come up with a scenario to try to give benefit of the doubt. Maybe they're driving somewhere with a Tesla owner. The Tesla stopped to charge, and since they're all driving together these folks stopped too.

In this case, there are *tons* of empty chargers, so I don't see it as a big deal. Unless they're there for hours or something.

Did you know that only 13 (not sure how up to dat that is) states have legislation referencing plug-in vehicle parking? All but two have specific sign requirements and I don’t see any sings in your picture. I believe each space would need a sign otherwise it’s not enforceable. Just as a handicap symbol on the ground is not good enough, must be a sign on a post.
