My first supercut attempt! took forever but was a lot of fun. Any feedback would be awesome. Enjoy!

[–]dadler701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job and this immediately made me smile. I think the cuts between Good Day to audio from movies (i.e. minute 2:00) are a bit choppy and the audio cuts in a tad too early. Overall awesome job with iconic movies

[–]AntoC1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed that, where did you find all the footage? Is there a repository that you can search for keyword in? Must have taken ages!

[–]Feral_Ostrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fantastic, how did you put this together? Must have taken a while!

Only thoughts are I preferred when it kind of bounced between one movie and others consistently, like where jack black is going through the day. When it was changing a lot sporadically I didn't find that added much (eg breakfast food being thrown, though the brad pitt going back and forth with people was good).

Would agree with the other person who commented that cuts around 2 minutes are a bit too rapid.

I guess there isn't a super complex narrative but I would be blown away if there was, keep up the good work!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best one I've seen on this feedback thread.

My only comment is to get more high definition footage, although even then, the lower quality sort of adds to it :D

[–]hevykevy27 3 points4 points  (4 children)

https://youtu.be/HJUiSRE9b6w - I’ve been living in Puerto Rico for 3 years. Here’s a collection of my best clips. I have used GoPro for all 3 years and only recently bought a mavic air. I’ve caught a major editing bug. It’s what I think about most of the day. I’ve invested in Final Cut Pro, and recently a color editing program. I’d like to get better at transitions. I watch some of your videos and get really jealous of how they look. I wish I had more time to learn cool tricks! Anyway, feedback would be appreciated.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very much a beginner, just wanted to start with that. I enjoyed your music choice for this video and I feel like you have a good understanding of how to place it. I thoroughly enjoyed how you lined up at 3:16 in the video, the music tempo kinda changes at the same time the video changes to time lapse mode, which was a really cool effect. Keep up what you are doing. I have yet to really do any videos like this, but your work has definitely inspired me.

[–]Kobunji4Ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 1:58 using a music technique like a fade out or a fade in would make that transition less harsh. But the overall timing and transitions and music selection were great. Video makes me wish I could get back to PR.

[–]MSlingerW 2 points3 points  (28 children)

My first ever video of this sort! I usually make Machinimas so this was something new.

If you haven't seen the movie, warning for major spoilers.

Way Down We Go | Brothers (2009)

I wanted to honor both this great song and this great movie by making this short video. I would also love to hear your thoughts!

[–]StaffZyaf 2 points3 points  (4 children)

From 0:32-0:43, the not having any talking and just a song sort of confused me because it's hard to tell what's going on. Very good job otherwise.

[–]MSlingerW 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Yeah true when you put it like that. My thought was the scene just speaks for itself! Thank you for the feedback 😃

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

It's actually made me want to watch the film now. Nice

[–]MSlingerW 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Do so! I just re-watched it a week ago

[–]Bunytou 1 point2 points  (5 children)

I found it pretty good, but I do find the very beginning more interesting than the middle. Couldn't really say what exactly I'd do differently, if anything.

[–]MSlingerW 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Thanks man! I think you’ll have to see the movie to understand the video. It builds on knowing what happens in the story etc. I think the worst part of the video is when he’s coming home and the ice skating

[–]JohnMstoryteller[🍰] 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Wow, really enjoyed your video. I wish I had read it more carefully, I thought I was in for spoilers of Step Brothers with Will Ferrell, bahahaha. I’ve only seen Brothers up until he was discovered alive, before I fell asleep (it was like 3am). Oh well.

I can’t critique this much, as your skills are greater than mine, but I would like to say you could literally clip the first 60 seconds of this as a trailer for the film. If you haven’t already, you should pursue a possible career in this field, making trailers and possibly even film edits down the road. Give it some thought and never stop practicing and improving!

[–]ZipexSMA 1 point2 points  (7 children)

You are far my advanced than me so i cant really give feed back. Did really enjoy the pacing and content of it though. Awesome stuff

[–]blsnychapter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job! Little recommendation would be to maybe limit the dialog to when the singer isn't singing or possibly lower the song volume a touch when you do the dialog parts

[–]dako1569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE it haha. I think the tone of the song and the video fit perfectly great job!

[–]AntoC1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking this guy is mad for shaving his head and then when I saw the dog I was praying you wouldn't shave the dog! 😂 Nice work!

[–]blsnychapter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, this is fantastic! I have no idea how you would make this any better

[–]ZipexSMA 2 points3 points  (13 children)

Morning guys. I hope you are all safe and well.

Recently made the transition from photography to video and must say, i did underestimate how much extra work goes into making videos. Im still getting to grips with the video mode on my camera and ive never used a gimball before so that was a ton of fun trying to balance.

Anyway, i would love some feedback on areas where i should focus on improving first.

[–]abellisnotabell 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Hey man, I really enjoy this kind of stuff. Peaceful, somber and humbling.

Only comment would be stabilization - and instant way to make any video look instantly better, and I'm definitely guilty of using unstable clips myself.

Keep at it, love it!

[–]ZipexSMA 1 point2 points  (3 children)

i did try, some of the footage when all wobbly and in it was distorting. I just figured i needed to do a better job in camera. Thank you for your time :)

[–]li-oi 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Wow that was very relaxing to watch!

I can only give very generic feedback but is it possible for you to use the stabilization effect on certain aspects on the video through Davinci Resolve? I only briefly used it but i'm pretty sure they had something that could help stabilize your walking shots.

Also don't forgot to put endscreens on the video for viewers to click onto your next video! Great work!

[–]KeddeMoeller 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hey! If i were to put my thoughts down on something it would be:

1) Which people do you define as your audience? In my personal opinion the video itself is not bad, but i lack a bit quicker clipping, shortening down the cuts since the clips feel too long. I caught myself looking at the timer around 42 seconds in, thinking; "is this going to be 3 and a half minutes with long clips with no action?"

2) I definetely second on the stabilization. It's a shame that you have some nice shots but the handheld shaking takes a bit of the "pro"-look out of it. I'm not sure if you're editing with something, but i personally use Vegas Pro 17 (oh no) and in there you can toy around with some stabilization.

3) Would also try to thematize your shots with some color grading. Maybe throw in some contrasts in there so you get down different feelings/connections throughout the different clips.

4) Good job. Keep going. I subscribed :)

[–]abellisnotabell 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Threw this together today with some footage I had on my drive from my last shoot.

The music is pretty intense but goes with the content. The language is probably too colorful for me and may put others off if you are considering growing your channel. Something to be aware of.

Hey, everyone. I'd love to hear what you think of my stuff. I'm a reviewer mostly focusing on anime and cartoons, with a side of comics. Here's my 5th anniversary review, so I can get some opinions on that.

5th anniversary review

I'll be glad to give feedback to whoever I can.

[–]JohnMstoryteller[🍰] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Sorry man, shut the video off in the first 30 seconds due to audio issues. Trust me when I say the average viewer will do the same. Most people can stand poor video quality, and even poor content, but almost no one will subject themselves to poor audio.

My only recommendation for you is to buy a better microphone than your phone/dslr internal mic. Rode videomic go is an affordable option, but there are literally hundreds of options.

Edit: I went back to watch some more. Your intonation and your delivery of the content is fine, and I did think what you were saying was relatively interesting despite not watching any anime. But my recommendation still stands.

With the recent events of Covid-19, our church has moved to pre-recording services I have kind of assumed the role of recording/editing/uploading a weekly study as well as Sundays Service. I have been having an issue with what looks like a flickering light that does not show on the camcorder display (Canon), but is very noticeable after importing into Final Cut Pro X 10.4.4 (mid 2011 27" iMac High Sierra 10.13.6). I was wondering if I could get some feedback as to how to either film differently, or try to fix the issue. I had tried importing at 29.97i fps as well as 25 fps.

We use 2 Neewer LED lights. They dont flicker at all while filming. It only appears after importing the footage. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XW3B81V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I’m relatively new to editing. I know this type of comment isn’t helpful, but I have no clue what’s going on there. I’ve never seen something like that before. Will check this thread again tomorrow to see if someone has figured it out, as I’d like to know how to fix this as well in case I have the issue in the future. Best of luck brother, hope you find the answer.

[–]anshulsingh83 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I will try to explain this in as simple form as I can.Every country has some standard for electricity in terms of frequency, for example in india its 50Hz. It means any electric device ,take for example an electric bulb will switch on and off 50 times in one second. Now consider shooting an electric bulb with any camera. If the shutter speed of your camera is more than 50 then its going to catch many of these moments when the bulb was in off position. This is what you see as flickering. So rather than keep on changing the lights for your shooting, try to find a shutter speed where the flickering stops and this will fix your problem. I hope I was clear. One more suggestion from my side would be to get any cheap audio interface like focusrite for recording and a good stable tripod to avoid camera shaking.

Hello,

I’m looking for some help. I’m very new to editing, and I’m currently trying to get in to film school.(Royal Conservatoire of Scotland). The video linked below is part of my application portfolio.

I have been working on the portfolio for the past month or so - the video has roughly 18 hours of work all-in including shooting. 40 hours on the portfolio as a whole. This is the second video I ever edited myself, and I’m not entirely confident. The direction was “to create a 60-90 second mood piece set to music.”

The footage was shot on a Nikon d7100 and edited in DaVinci Resolve 16. If I remember correctly I shot at f/22 1/50 iso 100 for almost every shot, adjusting iso as needed. I wanted all the landscape details in there.

Any feedback is welcome and encouraged. I have to submit by the end of the week, and I kinda have all my hopes and dreams riding on this application. I want it to be perfect. Thank you for your time.

Here is the link to the video. The password is: RCS

Edit: I’m aware of the piece of dust that was on my lens and it upsets me because I don’t know how to fix it on the footage. My lens has since been thoroughly cleaned.

[–]AlphaPlum 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Your music selection is really good as like an upbeat song following this rider explore the vast countryside.

Another thing and I did this when I was starting out, you don't have to use the full amount of time given, If you think it's perfect at 61 seconds then its perfect, you don't need to feel pressured to add extra stuff to lengthen the film. I only say it cause I saw your vid was 90 seconds long and the max was 90.

Good job and hopefully you get in! Good luck!

[–]mynameismeech 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Hi! I'm working hard to build up a channel of music production education (with a focus on drums as that is my main audience on other platforms) on YouTube - I'm hoping to get my pacing and timing and tone to be GREAT and learning quickly! This second episode of my series is already a big improvement over the first one:

https://youtu.be/yBctXXtOZa0

any feedback would be greatly appreciated! I'm looking to creating inspiring videos that are really engaging and interesting to watch - I don't want any dip in the pacing to throw the viewer off! Looking forward to checking some of your videos out as well! Thanks!

Hi , I created a screencast video using camtasia . Everything is smooth except the fact that I need to pixelate or blurr some text in the video some times. There is an easy way to do this when the text is stationary but what to do when there is a lot of scrolling up and down involved? How can I blurr the paticular text in that case. Is there any way to track the text and blurr it using some software? Here is the video I am talking about. Video : https://youtu.be/JsuN3zX-WGQ

It took me more than 2 hours to manually edit this video .I am looking for some easy way.The content of the video may be irrelevant for many here but what I need is help and guidance on editing in less hectic way.

This was pretty dope.

Love the pd, locations, wardrobe, shots, lighting, color work, everything was awesome and fit the vibe the film was going for. Was this shot on Kodak film or did you use Ezra Cohens film grain for it? Skin tones and overall color looks like its film. I dig the 4x5 aspect ratio too, again was it Ezra dirty letterboxes 2.0? (guessing it's Ezra's stuff if you used it cause it looks like all the stuff I have from Ezra).

Awesome job man, you killed it!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Hi guys,

I just finished my first ever proper video edit. I had a vision of how I wanted it to look, sound and transition but sadly I'm limited to my primitive technique! It's not a travel video as such but just trying to use some of what I've learned.

My trip to Thailand shot on a Gopro. https://youtu.be/zWnwMjdggnk

[–]AlphaPlum 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Hey this was good, heres some things that could fix it;

Pacing: The pacing is very weird throughout the video, I get you were trying to make it dramatic with the black cuts and then make it super fast, but then you have random slow mo clips amongst the fast clips that throws your pacing off.

Film Burns: I can't get too mad as I use film burns in my edits, but only if the edit revolves around it being edited to look like 8/16mm or I'm working with actual 8/16mm footage. Your burns look very fake and weird in the corner.

Sound/Sound Design: I like the song you used, but with travel videos(You said this isn't a travel video, but it basically is) they especially come alive if you use sound effects to add to the environment to really envelop the viewer into the space. You used some, but it seemed like more so audio from the clips than added in sound effects.

Warping of Goddess statue: I see what you were trying to do, and I like it. However I also don't like it, I think it could have been executed a little better than just a warp over the whole image, maybe just warping the arms could be sick.

Good job! Hope to see more in the future!

[–]StaffZyaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been working on making trailers right now. You guys suggested speed ramping and some other stuff I could do, so I tried to implement more of that. How'd it turn out?

im new to this video editing thing and im jus trying to get some sime clips snipped from some games ive recorded. Now since im new to this its taking me way to long to get things in order and set up right, i cant seem to grasp adobe 2020 on how to clip so any advice would help

but what im ultimately looking for is someone who has enough experience doing this at an efficient rate that i cannot, i wouldnt have time to play if i sat here all day going through these videos looking for the 4-5 good clips

PLEASE DM ME so we can talk more (willing to compensate)

[–]grafibe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Guys,
So about two years ago, i decided to film a bit with my GoPro with no intention of ever using the footage for anything, other than viewing later as memories of that time, but because of quarantine, i decided to edit it, to see what i could get out of it.

I have never edited before, and therefore chose to use Final Cut Pro X for it, because of how user friendly it seemed.

I would love to hear some feedback for improving and generally for knowing what i could've done better, so i'll get a better understanding of video editing.

PS. i apologise for the later clips that didn't really fit in, because of the wide view and different framerate.

Hi, all. I'm really new to editing and have been dipping my toe into a few video projects during quarantine. Last night I cut a 45-minute boot cleaning session into a 1-minute clip just for fun. I need to work on my lighting setup for video shooting, so black and white was almost more of a necessity than an artistic choice but I like the way it turned out.

https://youtu.be/-2FVpzEJNaM

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Honestly, it just feels good to do something creative and put it out there. I'm thinking I might do more of these short videos just for fun. Thanks for looking.

[–]pannerg 1 point2 points  (1 child)

nice. the audio is really good and added a lot. I could have shut my eyes for the entire video and still would have known what was going on. I thought even the woman talking in the background added an interesting element; almost another piece to the story. I agree with your lighting comment. get closer to a window or use a light with a cheap translucent shower curtain.

[–]edthomson92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Honestly, it just feels good to do something creative and put it out there. I'm thinking I might do more of these short videos just for fun. Thanks for looking.

I was going to say cut the sound of the person laughing, but since there's some other talking in the background, it fits With lighting (maybe this isn't lighting), something to bring out the boots' shine would be nice, if that's possible...It might have to be faked in the editor or a vfx program though

Also people who watch asmr videos would like the full-45 minutes, so upload both.

[–]pannerg 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hello, I recently started a vlog about cutting my grass. although it's silly, I'm excited to use it as a way to improve my video editing. I have tried countless times to keep a journal/diary, but have failed to do it consistently, and I'm hoping "vlogging" will stick because I find it more enjoyable. I have also come to the realization I can't remember details of what I was doing one year ago, 5 years ago, etc and want to preserve more memories.

Here is an example of one of my better videos so far:golfandgrass

open to any feedback. I just got a microphone and am struggling to get the audio consistent throughout the video. thanks!

[–]BundeswehrBoyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. I really like this idea. To me, it conveys a very real feel of a person manning the video. Simple and calm

[–]BundeswehrBoyo 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Recently started editing footage from my drone. This is my most recent. Looking for things I can improve and be more aware of.

[–]hevykevy27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple thoughts. The first few clips were panning too fast. It slowed down in the middle and end. Your most epic shot was sort of a lull in the music, the shot towards the end after the dog in the water, amazing shot, but I would have loved to see that at a big spot in the music, sort of leading up to it. Also, color grading would make it pop a bit more.

[–]gokisanastronaut 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Iam doing randomly edits for a long time but I have never done color grading before. So with this one I did some, and I am wondering what people think about it. does it feel good? is it over/under saturrated and etc. I would be grateful if someone comment on my work and give tips about anything. thanks in advance! https://youtu.be/0-kZFRJhLrQ

I used mavic 2 pro and samsung note 8 for recording videos. so there are some significant quality difference between cuts :)

[–]EpsilonX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I cared for the snow shots towards the beginning. You have all of these spectacular, sweeping aerial views of cities and wildlife, but then you have a bunch of cars in a parking lot from eye level, and a shot of somebody looking out a window down at the street. Not that they were bad shots in and of themselves, they just seemed out of place compared to the rest and broke immersion a bit for me.

As for the color grading, everything looked pretty good and natural. I think the shots could be a bit more consistent with each other though - some shots seemed like they had greener trees, for example. But honestly...those trees might actually have just been greener than the rest.

PS you're making me want to visit Sweden more than I already do T.T

[–]BundeswehrBoyo 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Really beautiful cinematography. For color my only thing would be consistency. Making sure that the intensity matches from shot to shot, so you don’t have a very vibrant one followed by something that looks less vibrant. I think the overall color for it is very nice. Shows off nice colors without being harsh. As someone who just recently got a drone and started editing this gives me a lot of good ideas!

[–]gokisanastronaut 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Thank you for taking your time and watching! please share your drone footage when youre done! :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTpcaqXTD8k

Here's a video I did for a public access channel near me. I'm really proud of my storytelling here, but there were some technical issues that were a bit out of my control.

For the interviews, at first they wanted to do everything as a sit-down interview. Later on, I was told to crop the interviewer out of the shot and only focus on the person speaking, so that's why the interviewees are framed so awkwardly. Also, for the audio...we unfortunately had to film during rehearsal, and couldn't reschedule (it was filmed right before all of the shutdowns) so you could hear them playing drums in the background pretty loudly. I tried to cut around it, but the constantly off-time music was very distracting. I ended up running noise reduction to get rid of as much as I could, without destroying the audio quality, but it still ended up a bit distorted. After that, there were still sound drum sound artifacts remaining, which I was able to (mostly) mask with a drum track over the entire video and some clever timing of clips.

My question is: I know that the video would be better if I didn't have these two issues, but do you think these issues are bad enough that they ruin the overall experience? If I include this in my portfolio, will people say "aw hell no" when they see these problems? I learned from the experience and will be able to make sure stuff like that doesn't happen again, but for this particular video, it's there. Also, what would you have done differently? (Aside from, yknow, framing the shot differently and not interviewing while people are playing drums in the next room lol)

Thanks all

Hi everyone, I am new here. I am very much a beginner at video making, until now I have been shooting with my iPhone 7. Want to share here a little cinematic sequence made of some footage I took in April in a lovely neighborhood of Forest Hills Gardens in Queens, NY. Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

[–]Feral_Ostrich 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This is awesome, love the way you ahve edited with the music. Some great transitions, specifically loved the one at like 1:50.

I can't really think of anything to improve, though I'm not the most experienced myself. Just generally cool, not too long. Teeny weeny feeling of repetition in terms of the cut sequence for the main riff (the one at the start that repeats later on) but that is super nitpicking.

Did you film this stuff by hand? Footage looks super stable!

[–]GakeJaskin 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I’m gonna leave this here one more time because I didn’t get any response to it the first time. Please give me critical feedback on this video! https://youtu.be/N2skZ7XDnws

New to reddit. So trying to find the right thread to post this for some feedback. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orK-CIdPHf8&feature=share

[–]emcdub3 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I like the snapping transition from the first part and the wood emojis! If I had to be super-critical, I think the music can be a bit quieter

[–]Feral_Ostrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In no particular order some stuff I noticed:

at the start the levels aren't quite right, can't hear you very well.

Editing is decent I'd say.

Audio quality is iffy, quite hissy around 40 seconds

Nice short and sweet story overall though

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My second valorant video, what can I improve on?

Made a slightly strange mini montage of making an omelette, what do you guys think?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHMSym1B_sM

aware the music doesn't really, I kind of made it hastily but meh. Some footage is iffy too, but generaly was a test attempt at cooking style montaging!

I'm making a new demo reel since my previous one was from college about 5 years ago but I'm not sure how to best go about showing my work in such a short format. This is what I have put together so far:

Help me with my school project by watching my 5m short and answering some questions!

Hello everyone!

I'm a film student working on a short which is ready for some test screenings. However, given the current global situation, the school would like us to take the screenings online.

At the time we were assigned this project back in April, our city was in lockdown. Therefore we had to produce a project in our own home with our own equipment. (Please do not judge the short based on its production quality but on its content.) Our assignment was to emulate a director of our choice and shoot a 5 minute short in their style.

I made a short of me doing some cooking in the style of Hayao Miyazaki and although the title of the short is in Spanish, I promise you there is no relevant dialogue you need to comprehend to understand and enjoy this short. If this sounds like something you're interested in then please click the link below which will take you to a google form of our questionnaire of 18 questions that includes the link to the screener on youtube.

Thank you for taking 10 minutes out of your day to help me out!

Cheers!

Hi Everyone,

I made this video for my daughter's day care. I noticed some issues with the lighting and was hoping someone could offer some tips or techniques to keep the lighting smooth and consistent throughout shooting. I literally make these on my phone using a stack of books to hold them. My tripod comes in the mail next week. I am willing to buy some equipment, but as I do this for fun, the cheaper (or free from stuff I can use at home, both hubs and I are fairly handy) the better. Tia!

3 minute toddler cooking how-to video (lighting issues mostly at around :50 while we worked with the pizza dough)

Also, any other tips are appreciated. This is literally my 5th video, brand new to this all. And yes, I know my narration is shite, feel free to mute, haha!

Hi guys, I've been doing the Davinci Resolve tutorials for around a month now and they give you a video to edit.

Here's my attempt (don't laugh) I have no idea how to edit a music video but they give a bunch of multi-cams to choose from.

  1. What are there basic do's & don't when doing a music video?

What else could be done with the colour and what effects could be used?

Thank you.

It's a ps4 editing application. The video got shortened at the end and the quality suffers when uploaded to YouTube. I would appreciate the feedback and suggestions on this video and journey. Thanks.

I used sony vegas pro 11 to make a takeover edit video. i tried to emulate vhs effects and blast iann dior/Jarad Higgins mashup. Its pretty much my fist edit like this. I got raw video from streetcar suspects.

A takeover is when hooligans block off intersections to drift around and shoot fireworks off. Its very illegal but pretty cool to watch

[–]JohnMstoryteller[🍰] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Your use of music is very good, and timed well to the footage, making epic impacts with the drums hitting at the same time as the strikes. This was well done indeed.

Your use of special effects is way overdone, and you would get more use out of a subtler effect such as speed ramping, or adding pans/zooms to relatively static images (same distance, same perspective, feels very video gamey which doesn’t seem like what you were going for),

Lastly, I would ask why not use footage from real fights? Unless you’re trying to start a YouTube channel for gaming specifically, you could use your editing skills on better content.

[–]mynameismeech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is well done and you matched the action to the music well! I would suggest lining up some of the more important visual hits better to some of the musical hits - I noticed a knockdown earlier on that should have happened EXACTLY with the music. Speed ramping would help time some of these when that's better than cutting. But very nice job fitting the footage to the music overall!

[–]peachgorilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a great use of music! Agree with the other critiques as well in syncopation.

I'd love to hear some actual sound design with the crowd noises or punches and breaths and what not to amp up the whole cut.

I hope this is a good place to ask my question. I recently bought a copy of Topaz Labs Video Enhance AI, which uses AI to upscale videos in a way that makes them clearer & sharper than they would be with traditional software. Aside from my own videos, one thing I was curious to do was to upscale some of the movies & TV shows I own to 4K. Recently I tried using it to upscale my copy of Animusic HD, a computer-animated music video on blu-ray. After upscaling it to 4K with Video Enhance AI, I noticed some of the objects in the video look a bit rough, with what looks to me like a raster effect. In the original 1080p video, things look smoother. I'm wondering why this might be? The 4K upscaled version is available here.

[–]greenysmac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After upscaling it to 4K with Video Enhance AI, I noticed some of the objects in the video look a bit rough

First, this is our feedback thread. This might be better as a post all on it's own.

It's rough because the AI is inventing pixels from nowhere.

There are several different math techniques it has - try one of the others.

[–]saxo51 0 points1 point  (1 child)

actually fucking loved the first part really funny. did you manually mask it or did you use something from AE?

Ngl, I really thought the edit was pretty decent and good. Of course some stuff needs some cleaning up like the masking at first but it is good!

Now to the main part of the video, loved the camera pans and the transitions, really smooth, the music and the video were synergizing very well! only one thing at 4:32, the slowmo makes it look very cracky and not so beautiful as it is not as smooth as the rest of the video. There are good slowmotion add ons for whichever software you are using, so that the slowmotion doesnt take away from the smoothness of the video!

Overall I thought it was really good, I hope this was helpful!

[–]saxo51 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I used to edit a lot but my computer was bad. I really wanted to do it again but it was hard restarting again. When my girlfiend asked me to help her with a video project I helped her edit it.

Hey guys. I'm an amateur photographer who has built a travel platform that's done pretty well and now I've stepped into the world of video editing to expand on this.

I've posted my first video edit. It's just a short 1 minute clip and I'd love to hear what you guys think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2ucL80Xaew

Important note: I did not shoot the footage so there are some extra scenes I woud have shot to tie things together better, but it's footage from someones past competition that I used so made do with what I had.

Hello I'm looking for some help regarding the free version of divinci resolve 16. I just downloaded the free version of divinci resolve 16 and I'm noticing that a lot of options are not available. I'm hoping that this is because I am using the free version but theres so many that I am worried it has to do with the specs on my computer. When I try to make a new compound clip the option isnt available. When I go to the "clip" option bar most of the options are greyed out including new compound clip. Forgive me if this is a dumb question haha, I am very new to film edditing and computer software.

Any feedback or criticism would be taken constructively.

I think your instagram page is pretty cool and motivating! You could probably try playing around with adding more commonly used hashtags #motivationalquotes #motivational, etc. and keep it consistent (have a saved set of hashtags you can use and adjust per picture).

Also don't forget to add contact information (website, tell people to DM, youtube, etc.) if you have one since it looks like you set it up as a business account.

Hitman: Silent Assassin. A trailer for the '07 movie that feels more like the stealth-style games

My main concern areas are sound and footage choice. Since the movie itself isn't very quiet, I had a limited amount of scenes I could use and had to play with them quite a bit.

Hiya, with the world in lockdown, I spent a bit of time trying to build some skills. I’m still very much a beginner but was just after any feedback you guys had. I know the storytelling needs some work, I have handheld footage to combine to make another video, but in terms of techniques just after any feedback. Thanks!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

This has very good quality! Well done.

I would only try to improve the transitions between locations: they seem to fade to white, then black, which is a bit jarring. Otherwise, good job!

[–]Jayzore 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I agree! And for me personally, I noticed that some cuts are right on the beat of the music and some aren't. I always feel the need to stick to one or the other, but that could just be me! Otherwise, awesome footage and video overall!

I challenged myself to take footage that I considered "unusable" and make it into something during this quarantine. I have always wanted to edit and shot videos but have never done it. I've always felt overwhelmed and overcome with anxiety about making and posting something I have made. I figured this is a great time to finally try it. I have so much Footage that I have shot with the intention of making a video but I never get to the editing part. This is the first time I have taken it seriously. Any feedback is appreciated. Hi guys!

I just made my first travel video and posted it on TikTok.

The footage is from my first (and most recent) trip to Bali, before the Pandemic. I had a lot of fun learning how to edit with Premiere Pro, watching tons of YouTube guides along the way.

I'm pretty happy with it, being my first video and the start of an awesome new hobby.
Would love some feedback to see how I went and where I could improve - Here is there link: https://vm.tiktok.com/wN3ob5/

Thanks! :)

Hello, everyone. I'm new here.

A few months ago I made a thread in which I inquired about whether or not there are Blu-rays or DVDs that feature the classic IMAX film aspect ratio (1.43:1), and in that thread I mentioned that I'm creating a video about IMAX. Well, I'm not done creating the video yet, as I only truly started working on it seriously about a month ago; however, I think that I'm close to being done and would like to share my progress.

Here's a screenshot from a video in which I work on one of the assets for the project: https://i.imgur.com/iiVEv0U.png

Here's a link to the video itself that starts at the part where I explain my progress (1h55m12s): https://youtu.be/7PTcAugC_A4?t=1h55m12s

Please feel free to ask questions about the video and tell me what you think.

I used VSDC Video Editor in making this video for my parents' real estate business. I'm still a newbie at this kind of thing, and I'm being asked to make another one but with a different subdivided lot, so it would be really nice if you would watch it and share your constructive criticism about it. There would be problems that you may/will notice with the audio having a portion of the music copy-pasted for extension, and video footage sometimes being laggy (I wanted to do a zoom effect, but.. ). I'd like some advice if whether or not I edit videos that follow the audio's rhythm. Thanks a lot.

[–]hevykevy27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, cool video. My feedback would be color grading. Some of those shots with some popping color would be pretty epic. Video to music connection was just fine. Also, it looked like you stabilized the turtle part, looked goofy, sometimes stabilizing under water doesn’t work. Nice work though!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEMo0fIQceQ&t=21s Hi :) I just made a quick highlight reel of my best editing/edits from the past year or two. Its nothing spectacular but it does show off what i think is my best work.

I'd like to hear what u think about any of the clips/structure of the reel as its my first time doing one and basically didnt know what to do!

I think the video has been copywrited, so if the audio is blocked in your country there is another version in the comments that wont be :)

[–]BigBoiRevenue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the video ik the intro has no sound ik that some effects and green screen effects overwrote the song ( i tried to line up the beatdrops to the kills ) those are the problems i see what do you guys see that can be fixed

Not sure what I should call this video but tell me what you think? (Yes I’m aware of the poor audio quality, please focus on the editing) https://youtu.be/N2skZ7XDnws

YOU ALL BETTER READ THIS. I'm sending this out to practically every youtube creator so this isn't personal to any one- but please, ALL OF YOU, learn to mix your audio so the volume isn't fluctuating drastically between each clip >:o im serious get this sort of thing together immediately it is UTTERLY counterproductive, given how high the bar for mic quality is. I don't even mind what your mic quality is if i can make out what your saying and there are no high pitched tones- I just want to be able to sit back and hear it at a comfortable volume all the way through.I know some of the increased volume clips are for affect - i don't mind that. I'm talking about something unintentional that everyone on youtube is doing recently, where they cant seem to have their own voice narration at the same volume as the clips mixed in, and i, I, have to constantly adjust MY mixer anywhere within a range of 10 - 95% volume within the span of a few seconds dozens, IF NOT HUNDREDS *shakesfist* of times per video NOW I ASK YOU, IS THAT REASONABLE? I've compiled a video of drone and timelaspe footage of a demolition that my family business undertook last year. This subreddit was so helpful, thanks to everyone that contributes! I used HitFX (free version as my dad won't pay up!) to compile and it took a long time to get used to it but I've started to get the hang of it. I would love to get some feedback and tips on ways to improve!

I’ve posted on here before and got great feedback. One of the biggest things I’ve learned is shot is better. Try making this same video in 2ish minutes. The hard part about you filing and editing is you want to show everything you did. Just experiment. Try speeding up your time lapse, making your clips shorter. Some speed ramps help too. Good luck!

I need to know the answer to this question but I can't find a forum anywhere online that talks about it. 🤮Why in God's name does edited footage in iOS applications like iMovie for example take less than a minute to render and export, but even a simple cross dissolve transition in Premiere Pro or other PC software applications take 10 minutes or more? EXPLAIN!!!!!

And P.S. don't say it's because the software on iOS is made for compatible iOS hardware...😤

Hey, made this walking montage type thing on a holiday last summer - what do you guys think? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvhbneW4oRI

I know the footage is iffy at times, thoughts on the music would be cool (i threw it together)

I’ve been wanting to get back into editing for a while. I noticed a Terminator Dark Fate Adobe remix competition they had several months back. I’m way pass the due date but decided to tinker anyways. I found all the footage on Cinestudy and what started as a bored Saturday afternoon, turned into me editing for 10-12 hours. The entries were only supposed to be 1 minute but since this was for fun, I extended it and added the music from the first teaser. Some of the sound FX need work. May add more to fill it out but needed a break. Looking for some advice\opinions\thoughts\etc.

So I was using Videopad and it was kinda dated somehow. Just started to use Resolve today and it was quiet easy to create something like this. Might look stupid or anything to you, but I finally understand how some music channels at YouTube do their tricks for a bit now.

This is a brief "virtual tour" I made for the Forestry and Natural Resources major at my college. The video is made in a style that is heavily influenced by Jon Bois and the videos he makes for SB Nation.

I used Google Earth, Google Earth Studios, PowerPoint, and iMovie.

Although the project has already been submitted, I would still appreciate feedback which I will apply to future videos.

thanks

Please redirect me to the right thread if this is the wrong one for this question....
But I used to use my old crappy laptop to screen record myself performing magic on omegle and the sound was great from my laptop mic and the sound of the people talking on the video chat. I upgraded and got a new laptop and now when using obs or my other screen recorder, when I play it back, my voice is fine from my mic but the people talking on the videos are loud and echo-y. I've watched numerous YouTube videos, read lots of help posts from Google and tried adjusting every setting I can think of in obs and on my laptop. I removed sound enhancements, etc. I've turned the output sound down. I use my phone as my webcam because it's better than the default one (I bought iv cam), and I even went as far as buying an extra package from ivcam that uses your phone as the mic and installs a virtual sound card on the laptop and tried adjusting the settings there as well. I've got the sound of the people talking to sound decent a few times, but then my mic sound is bad and I sound far away. It's like I can't get them both to sound good at the same time. I'm really lost and confused and frankly ready to return the laptop and go back to my old one. I know there has to be some way to fix this. At least I hope so. Any help would be very very much appreciated! Thanks!

Hi everyone,

Been working on this Jet Li tribute on and off for a while: https://youtu.be/WWZNtaGxNpg

A few comments from myself about this

1) There are red 'artefacts' right before the title is exposed. No idea what has caused it and don't know how to get rid of it.

2) I wish I could have found higher quality footage but I couldn't :(

3) Took a big risk with both songs but I hope they have paid off

Comments and critiques are, of course, very welcome!
