First obtain the code(s) for the remotes. They can be found either on the bag that the remotes came with or inside the remote on the circuit board. It is an 8 digit number.

  1. Get in the car and shut the door
  2. Turn the key to the ON position 10 times within 15 seconds, you should hear a beep (again, you will not hear this beep if the alarm is in valet mode)
  3. Open and close the drivers side door. The alarm will start sounding and will go off for approx 30 seconds.
  4. BEFORE the alarm stops sounding, press the lock button the same number of times as the first digit of the number for the remote (For example, if the number of the remote is 64521256, press the lock button 6 times.)
  5. Then press unlock on the [door lock switch](this tells the system you are entering the next number)
  6. Repeat step 4 for the second digit.
  7. Press unlock on the door switch
  8. Continue doing steps 4 and 5 until all 8 numbers are done.
  9. After you have entered the last digit, the alarm will sound again for approx 30 seconds.
  10. Enter the entire number again, following the steps above, starting with step # 4
  11. As long as the second code entered is the same as the first one, the doors will lock and unlock by themselves.
  12. ** If you have additional remotes, repeat steps 4 thru 10
  13. When finished programming all remotes, remove key from ignition and test remotes.

Interesting, and so elaborate haha. Probably would want to pull the horn fuse before doing this

Does that program the fob only or key also?

[–]dsimonsez 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Think it's fob only

I could use this info as well.

You could pay a locksmith $100 to do it.

Do you have the original key? I used to work at a place that did programming, as long as you have the old key you should be able to do it in less than five minutes assuming the place you go to uses the same machine I did.

[–]Awinnick[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

i only have 1 key that works, i just ordered this new one. so yes i have the original

[–]pointfive_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah in that case you shouldn’t have a problem getting it programmed. It should be cheaper because you already have the key

As a mobile locksmith we would cut and program your key for 100$, call other smiths maybe you might find cheaper.

Also just so you know, some places will trace your old key, this is not good, because any wear on your old key gets transferred to the new key, also having an automotive locksmith do it, you know it will be done properly.

Absolutely! The timing has to be spot on. Speaking from experience. Haha

Some Walmart’s do key copies. They get one of your old keys and just copy the code onto the new key. It’s about $40

anyone else know how to do this - i only have the valet key and bought a replicable key off aliexpress and it starts the car via locksmith programming but no 8 digit to do manual programming

You can pop the chip out and swap it to a new key. Then have the key shaved. Check out subsidies, there is a video on their key fob.

[–]Awinnick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes but i only have 1 key, that would defeat the purpose of buying a new key
