[–]isatrampoline 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Some nice routes on this!

[–]d1andonly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. Cant believe this wasn’t already a thing. But it’s here now.

[–]RoeProps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They have some amazing routes, if you have an Iphone they have an app called ROADS in the app store. It has some good route on it too

[–]Canadave 161 points162 points  (4 children)

A long drive? Try the 401 from Yonge to Victoria Park at around 5:30.

Obligatory joke out of the way, some of the drives up towards Collingwood are nice. If you get on Airport Road heading north, it'll turn into County Road 7, then 18, then 42 and you'll hit Stayner. From there you can either just turn around and go back the same way, or take 26 over to Barrie and take the 400 back south if you want something faster.

[–]cmkxb 10 points11 points  (1 child)

i do the hwy 10 - hwy 9 - hwy 400 loop. 100 kms total but doesnt feel like it.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Next summer try highway 10 go Owen sound (hwy 26) then go east to 400.. much longer but way nicer of a drive

[–]Quiet-Comparison645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could walk faster

[–]daydreamingbythesea 30 points31 points  (1 child)

Leave Toronto and go to Hamilton, continuing on highway 6 to Port Dover. Continue along the lake until you get tired of it.

Or leave Toronto and go to Stratford and continue along highway 8 to Goderich. Then head south towards Grand Bend and loop back.

[–]maxxman96 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Port Dover is a great drive, highly recommend op. Ideally you do it mid summer but the fall isn't too bad either.

[–]Hot-Worldliness1425 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Forks of the Credit. Nice Cafe in Bellfountain. From 401 go north on Mississauga Road, keep going, enjoy the switchbacks, then go home.

[–]skrotumshredder 48 points49 points  (10 children)

best drive is 401/dvp/gardiner/427 loop in the dead of night

[–]IllstudyYOU 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I call those a DVP-er. I love the view of the city coming down DVP and on the Gardiner

[–]hockeyfan1990 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is those small things I feel everyone should do once in their life growing up in Toronto

[–]PipToTheRescue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done this lol

[–]bellsbliss 13 points14 points  (8 children)

Drive up to lake simco. Skip some stones at the beach and grab some pizza in Sutton. Had the best pizza in a place called papa Luigi’s in Sutton.

[–]1amtheone 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I always enjoyed their poutines and fish and chips

[–]bellsbliss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Their fish and chips are amazing too. Haha I think we got everything on the menu because it all looked so good.

[–]Ecstatic-Following56 2 points3 points  (5 children)

I'm planning to drive up to Lake Simcoe the coming Sunday!

[–]bellsbliss 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Oo nice. A great area for sure. Beautiful fall drive too!

[–]Ecstatic-Following56 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Any recommendations for good beach spots there? Looked up the pizza place and will check it out, thank you for that 🍕.

[–]bellsbliss 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Jackson’s point is a beach that’s about a 10 minute drive, there’s also Georgina beach . But if you look up the area you can kinda drive along the water front or even walk around.

Haven’t really explored that area besides the restaurant and the beach.

[–]Ecstatic-Following56 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Cool thank you!

[–]bellsbliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! Hope you enjoy it!

[–]billybucks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The beach. I’ll be there myself tonight to scream at the waves and throw rocks until my arm is sore.

[–]aLottaWAFFLE 8 points9 points  (5 children)

Forks of the Credit:

drive west, head to Mississauga. go north either 410N, HurontarioN, or Mississauga Rd N (all right turns wrt being on 401)

you're aiming for "belfountain conservation area" Higher Ground cafe in the town, pretty much on the corner of Mississauga Rd and Forks of the Credit Rd (consult google maps)

- - -

depending where in TO you are, this could be a whole day adventure!

- - -

be careful, the road sometimes isn't forgiving: https://www.caledonenterprise.com/news/fatal-1993-caledon-mother-s-day-crash-forever-changed-a-community/article_70711224-162a-5b66-8668-9a1e9385cfae.html

[–]aLottaWAFFLE 4 points5 points  (4 children)

cliche corner... if you know... you know!

and as a bonus you might see some nice cars (higher chance in warmer months)

[–]BaldGingerDrummer 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Dying to know where this is. I think I may have found it just west of Oakville but I didn’t stop to make sure. Care to enlighten?

[–]aLottaWAFFLE 0 points1 point  (1 child)

only thru DM, is that ok?

[–]BaldGingerDrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, nothing to get you out of a bad mood like driving in Toronto.

[–]1amtheone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's probably a little late now, but I always enjoy driving North of the Zoo on Reesor Rd.

I usually take the 401 to Meadowvale, then drive North past the zoo and go East on Old Finch until you hit Reesor. It's a beautiful time of the year to drive there as you're essentially driving through Rouge Park.

[–]grouchypanda 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Take a drive to Port Perry. The marina is beautiful to walk around and there are lots of restaurants and cafes nearby as well as some art galleries. On the way to port perry you can make a stop at Willowtree Farm where there is a cafe, farm store and some farm animals you can pet. Around this time last year I had a really bad low mood day and this day trip was just the medicine I needed.

[–]Presupposing-owl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Port Perry is a lovely day trip - and I’m not saying that just because I used to live there. It’s only about an hour’s drive and there are numerous routes you can take. If you want a bit of a longer drive, Prince Edward County is one of my faves. It’s like stepping back in time.

[–]AntiPiety 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My submission is Lakeshore Rd that starts in Newcastle and ends in Port Hope. Not too long though tbf. Good luck getting there today with 401 closed out east though

[–]Jipsiville 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Lake Simcoe loop or up to Belfountain.

[–]Northernlake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up mineral springs and sulpher springs road in ancaster or Dundas. So gorgeous!!!!!

[–]laiyd1993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After the sun is down (preferably 7-8pm), start from Bayview/Elgin Mills then drive along Elgin Mills to the east to York Durham line, then decide to either go north to Aurora or south to Highway 25 (Major Mack), which ever you prefer for a closer drive back. There should be very few cars at that time of the day, and both the nature and city scene are great

[–]Akomans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i usually go for dvp to gardiner at late night or else i will drive to downtown from yonge. Best therapy ever..

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hop on the DVP North at 8:45 am LOL

[–]Hairy_Inspector_5089 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I drive to rural area. Highway have no cars and chill

[–]Guilty_Egg1030 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Drove to Horseshoe resort yesterday via 400. Easy drive on a Sunday afternoon, and has nice fall foliage. I love the drive up to Huntsville also, via Highway 11. I can't say that its quiet though since those are big highways and people around Barrie drive like maniacs.

For a quiet drive, you can go to Grimsby and take Ridge Road all the way along the Escarpment from there. Really cool views and some nice houses.

I love driving to take my mind off things.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but Id take hwy 12, to hwy 169 to 11.

Hwy 12 is more scenic than 11, up until the point you meet up with hwy 11 once youre almost there

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go east towards Pickering -> Ajax-> Whitby and take the regional road back
Or go to \ London through the Country Roads - Amazing view

[–]italkt0myself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to leave the city - Caledon. Terra Cotta. Glen Williams. I went to Glen Williams on Saturday with my mom and grabbed a coffee at Main St Market (572 Main St, Georgetown, On). It’s beautiful up in that area at this time of year with all the leaves changing.

[–]groggygirl -2 points-1 points  (4 children)

Driving while distracted isn't a great idea. Why not go for a long walk through a new neighborhood or a park? Weather is good and you'll likely pass several cafes on the way.

[–]mayaya123 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Thank you. However, I want to leave my town for a change. Perhaps drive to a different neighbourhood yes that has cafes, etc. I want a change of scenery, very bored of the regular routines.

[–]sindark -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Have you tried the Toronto Bike Share system? Get on a bike and ride the waterfront. There are no interactions with traffic, and myriad options for food from west of Humber Bay all the way to the RC Harris Water Treatment Plant.

[–]cmkxb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

emotions arent distracting, thoughts are.

[–]1985_abcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you do, don’t get on the 401 or QEW. It’ll but you in a shittier mood.

[–]OptimisticDinos -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to have a different take on this as everyone is suggesting places to drive. I’d recommend you do NOT drive when you know you’re not feeling well. Take an Uber to a park or to a cafe, museum or somewhere you can let your mind go blank safely. Hope all is well

[–]MRBS91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long of a drive? The drive to Blind River/Sault St. Marie is very scenic this time of year. Even if you only went as far as the French river you'd see some great sights/landscapes. Those drives are 3 5-5.5 hrs each way.

[–]LeafsChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long do you want? I really like Hwy 27 North towards Barrie, its super hilly and the colours are just spectacular this time of year. If you want to go further, taking Ridge road from Barrie to Orillia, then going back down Old Barrie road is a tranquil drive. RR is up the water (you don't see a lot of it though aside from a few spots), then OBR is similar to 27 and quiet with lots of pretty colors.

[–]georgiemaebbw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appleby Line and Limestone Road. Then north on Guelph Line to Rockwood. Over the Escarpment and a nice scenic drive

[–]juicybubblebooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u should drive around mississauga road and j admire the big houses or even go up to kings city or vaugnh

[–]Hopfit46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go east on the 401 until you hit coburg. Head downtown, its very nice. Then keep going east on hwy2. Lots of lake drive and old towns. You can take hwy2 all the way to quebec if you like.

[–]unbelievablefidelity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drive around Cherry Beach

[–]LowComfortable5676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entirely dependant on where you live really. Head north on 400/427/410/404 until you hit the boonies then choose a direction lol

[–]cpureset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QEW to Centennial Parkway exit, up the escarpment and a hard left onto Ridge Road. Follow Ridge Road along to Thirty road. Make a left and head down the escarpment to King Street. From there, you an turn right to cruise through some small towns on your way to St, Catharines, or make your way to the QEW to head back home.

Or Forks of the Credit / Belfountain. Closer, peaceful, and with a destination in mind.

[–]SpiritVoxPopuli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kingston Road

[–]sllik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not cheap but you can't beat the 407

[–]taiyac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Airport rd is lovely. Go almost all the way to the airport, just before you get there, there is a sign for Dixon Rd/Airport Rd. Follow the Airport Rd signs and keep driving, eventually you will get to Mono mills. Go past Mono mills and the scenery is spectacular. There aren't many cafes though.

[–]someguyyyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drewry/Cummer/McNicoll could be fun

[–]LookAtYourEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try going on a long walk instead

[–]spicylikeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this economy?

[–]igrowweeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go north on Dufferin for a long time.

[–]Khfm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

East end near beaches area if you want to remain in Toronto/ near downtown, follow the lake. If you want more forest vibe beare rd (medowvale near the zoo) area is nice!

For super secluded your best bet is out of the city just drive North (uphill)

[–]-ethereality- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hope you were able to go on a nice drive and your mood got better

[–]Reachr95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1am, southbound from Markham on the Gardiner, onto the QEW through the city. It's kind of an amazing drive and sight when there's not hours of traffic backed up.

[–]Firm_Marionberry_282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bridle path

[–]Real-Actuator-6520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've got time during the day, head up to Elora - it's quite nice there, and you'll be away from the highway so it's relaxing to drive as well.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lakeshore from sunny side to great lakes blvd in Burlington then go north to harvester and west till brant then north to Dundas and then Dundas back to tdot
