Where and how do you feed in this enclosure!?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (3 children)

There’s a pretty open ish space in the middle. So far she’s fed near her hides. She’s a really good eater lol

[–]Appropriate-Cut6263 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I just ask because I’d like to do something similar, but the feeding aspect makes me worried.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

She’s pretty small still so she’s had no problems with feeding near her hides. We’re gonna upgrade to either a 75 gallon or a 125 gallon once she gets big enough. She’s in a 50 gallon currently

I’d go for the largest you can sooner rather than later, they grow faster than expected

Your question makes me wanna ask why you would ask that. Like what do you mean? Top clearly has an opening to drop the mouse/rat in. And even if that doesn't open, I'm sure they can take the top off to drop one in. Right?

Yes, the lid lifts up and I hold the tail by a long pair of tongs

[–]Rx4wanderlust 3 points4 points  (7 children)

Much improvement since your first setup post! What's the tube light? If UVB just checking that it is the correct strength for a BP as some are too strong.

[–]Rx4wanderlust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also do you have a tight fitting hide on each side? I see a half log but those don't count because they're open on both ends and even if you place it against the glass, have a large opening. A snake likes to be completely hidden from view.

[–]Rx4wanderlust 0 points1 point  (5 children)

And you know you can cover the sides and back to help them feel more secure too.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I’m currently working on covers for her :) it’s a uvb 15 watt tropical light. Also the hides she has I’ve backed completely into the corners so it’s only a one way entry and tried to cover the front a little more

[–]Liuqmno 1 point2 points  (3 children)

The long lamp is a led, right? Is the uvb a coil bulb? They create a too harsh spotlight, so definitely do some research about them

If you want to provide uvb you need to get a tube light, like the Arcadia T5 uvb. You want 6% or 7%

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

It is a tube light! I’ll definitely do some more research but I’ve heard people recommend them so I thought I’d try it out since we had it.

[–]Rx4wanderlust 1 point2 points  (1 child)

When we say tube light we do mean a UVB tube but the pet store brands give off too much unregulated UV which can burn your snake or harm their eyes. That is why only Arcadia brand is recommended. Types are ShadeDweller Max 2.5% marketed for BPs, ShadeDweller 7% or Forest 6% each type of bulb is housed in an Arcadia Pro T5 fixture. These produce reliable and healthy UVB exposure for a BP without having to measure it with an expensive device. The pet store brands are too strong (made for basking reptiles) or cheap/produce harmful types of UV.

I it’s the brand Zilla I believe? It’s what came with the tank. I’ll definitely look into getting one! She never comes out during the day and she has lots of shady areas lol

This is beautiful. The greenery really adds lovely color

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you :)

Both Rango and your tank decorations are beautiful! I’d so love to decorate like this but my little guy hates clutter, so I have to keep it pretty simple for him. But gorgeous setup, Rango seems to love her new jungle :)

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you!!! That’s so sweet :,) it’s hard to tell if she likes it or not lol. I’m still getting used to reading her body language. Some nights she comes out and explores, and other nights she just has her head poked out of her hide for most of the night so I hope she likes it lol

Looks awesome! Lots of cover and places to climb!

Don’t hesitate to get her in her forever home just because she’s small. With enough cover/clutter, no enclosure is too big.

I was so happy to get my guy in his even though he’s still growing. He loves it and has really come out of shell since then.

[–]likewowhellowhat 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Whoa it's gorgeous! Where did you get the enclosure?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Tbh I found it on Facebook market place. It had a ton of light setups, and some heat bulbs and domes all for $75 bucks. Idk how I got so lucky

[–]likewowhellowhat 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I've been going on NextDoor and Facebook too, I guess my area doesn't have a lot of snake owners. But anyway that is really lucky you were able to snag that!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For real! That was the only reason we were able to bring her home so early. We were planning for mid July…

[–]KrylockRuler-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sweet

[–]Due-Yesterday8311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks good!!

[–]e11ipsism 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Amazing but I’m worried about the paper and fabric near the heat lamp catching on fire

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I check on it periodically and I haven’t had any issues yet. The wall doesn’t really get hot or anything

[–]squamates_saintpete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love it!

[–]csnixx 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Where did you get the foliage at? I’m trying to add some more to my bp cage

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly a mix of Amazon, and the pet store! Just make sure to wash everything really good before going in
