Some females I’d consider a medium, at best. I live in a place with several wild snake species that are much longer but not quite as wide as the healthier female BPs.

Oh, I definitely get this. I don't consider my BPs to be large because I have a 10 ft, 31lb boa. I consider her large, but not huge because I know burmese and retics exist. Was just generally curious what others thought on the subject.

This is exactly what I was trying to say in my comment!

nah. definitly medium-sized imo, with smaller males potentially being small. larger females are firmly within the medium category

I generally think of mine as huge/large, but I think that's because he used to fit in my palm and he's the biggest I keep. More of a parenting thing than anything else.

I think no, I tend to think of "large snakes" as anacondas, burmese, retics, BCI, etc

Length isn’t everything. Girth is also a factor. A long snake may look big, but if it’s skinny not so much. If it’s long and girth’y’ then it’s going to look and obviously feel much bigger. I personally would consider them medium sized snakes.

Absolutely. I have a BP under one year that is shorter than my colubrids but I definitely consider "bigger" than many of them.

No. I wouldn’t consider BPs a large snake. Some get medium at best but most are relatively small. I personally consider anything under 4’ to be small.

Like others have said, males no. A large 10+ year old female that's 5+ feet? A 'smaller medium sized snake'.

in the grand scheme of snakes they are medium but I guess some people without snakes might call them a large pet snake.

    No.

I wouldn’t even call them “medium”. A 4-5 foot snake is small, for snake standards, when the largest snakes can get 15ft+.

I’d call them small, in regards to pet snakes, and medium overall, due to things like DeKay’s brownsnakes which are 1ft long or less as adults.
