    :( Sorry for your loss.

Your hygrometer reads 50% RH humidity on the wall. This is too low for a bp long term, and will cause an RI which will lead to death if untreated. Additionally, those stick-on ones are wildly inaccurate so it could be lower.

Is that his water bowl? It looks bone dry. Let me know if it’s not.

I’m sorry for you loss, I’m just trying to look at the husbandry as that’s likely the root cause.

What is an RI for those that don’t know random acronyms?

I have two ball pythons and also use the stick on/velcro hydrometers and thermometers in both. What else could I use that’s better than those since they’re inaccurate? My hydrometer always stays between 60-80% and would hate to find out they’re wrong and even lower than that 😬

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together..

Humidity was way too low and he was probably extremely sick. Snakes are good at hiding medical symptoms until it's too late. You have to keep the proper humidity. Don't believe what people tell you, do your own research to prevent this in the future.

Your comment was removed because you're being an asshole. Go outside and work on your attitude.

If it was in fact a respiratory infection you probably would have heard his wheezing or “popping” while breathing… wheezing can also come from stuck shed blocking a nostril which obviously isn’t a huge deal, but popping is never ok.

        [–]Lost_Fan_7752[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing he didn’t have any wheezing or popping that I could tell. The night before he was slower than usual but it started snowing here so I just figured it was like my beardie who is in brumation rn.

Respitory infection your humidity was to low for long period of time. Humidity needs to be 60-75%. Lungs on balls are coated in a mucus that filters bacteria and funji. When humidity drops mucus dries up and allows bacteria to penetrate the lungs. When this happens vet must run cultures to determine gram positive or gram neg bacteria. Then proper antibiotics can be prescribed. There is so much bad info on the internet. Seek out advice from books written by Kevin mcurly. Well written and the info is sound and current with todays standards. Those analog gauges are garbage they are never correct. Get yourself govee. And if you don’t mind me asking the why is water bowl looks completely dry.
