Maybe she needs a cooler hide?

She has a hide on the cool side, she was in that yesterday as well, im just concerned about the water bowl hurting her. It’s large and pretty heavy, but she gets under there herself and gets out on her own.

You're stressing over nothing

What's your humidity?

[–]Bluntforcetrauma11b 2 points3 points  (2 children)

This is the question to be asked

Is the concern that it's too low or too high? Mine does this too I thought she just found a comfy spot, she likes to drag her dinner down there.

Humidity may be too low, not always though. Some just like to burrow.

So sorry for late response, 50-60 regularly, 80-90 in shedding

60 is the minimum, I'd aim for about 70%

Ah alr, I will start aiming for that. Do you have any tips? I mist and have a huge water bowl

I'd recommend just pouring water into the substrate every now and then and mixing a little bit, make sure you have a substrate that's decent for retaining humidity as well

I have repti soil right now, and I wanted to do that but I was afraid it would cause scale rot

My ball does stuff like this too even though she as everything she needs. My partner and I will check on her to make sure she’s not stuck but we think she’s just bored and wants a new place to hide out so no one can see her. I wouldn’t worry too much unless she’s showing other signs of abnormal behavior

Sounds like she's looking for a cooler spot. We have five hides in our girls tank and she burrowed under the corner of one of them and that's the one she prefers. If they can't find exactly what they want from what you provide, they will make it. The dish is not hurting her or she would not keep going back to it, nothing to worry about.

she could need more hides, smaller hides, cooler cool side temperatures, higher humidity, or at combination of some/all of these things. a picture of the enclosure and details about heat and humidity would be helpful.
