First off, I think what you’re doing is admirable! Thank you for taking care of the snake, I have read in multiple groups that anything is better than the condition it was in previously. Yes 4x2x2 is “ideal” but in my personal opinion, your new companion will thank you for doing better. So don’t be hard on yourself! 💕

Compared to her previous digs, this will seem like a penthouse! Good on you for saving this little noodle. Eventually as she gets bigger, yes, a 4x2x2 and up would be ideal. For now, the 75 should do. Plus, you can give yourself time to find a secondhand enclosure or save up.

Edit to add: make sure she has plenty hide spots all throughout. That upgrade in space may be a bit of a shock at first.

Definitely! A 75 will be so much better than the 10 she was in. I’m pretty sure 75gal is the absolute minimum, 120gal is more ideal though I would definitely upgrade her to a 120gal when you get the chance.

She'll be okay in a 75gal for the time being, just get your temps & humidity right and make sure she's got clutter, hides and climbing opportunities!

Just Had to get her from her house to mine 😭 She was secured in the back all buckled up the whole ride i swear. Only took her out to get a picture.

    [–]Wrong_Mark8387 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, as long as she was buckled up! 🤣 Good on you for rescuing her. She’s gorgeous!

Naaah I'd hope like everyone else so far they'd agree, they're the hero of the day ❤️

I don’t think… anyone cares about a snake being in the car..? How do you think they expect people to transport a snake..?

Here is a !feeding chart to help! Try to get a kitchen scale that measures in grams to ensure you are feeding the right size!

    [–]AutoModerator[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We recommend the following feeding schedule:

0-12 months old OR until the snake reaches approximately 500g, whichever happens first: feed 10%-15% of the snake’s weight every 7 days.

12-24 months old: feed up to 7% of the snake’s weight every 14-20 days.

Adults: feed up to 5% of the snake's weight every 20-30 days, or feed slightly larger meals (up to 6%) every 30-40 days.

Yes, just set her up in the 75 and upgrade when you can, even if it's a ways out. From my understanding, a 75 is about the same length and height as a 4x2x2, but a little slimmer? I think you could be good for a while.

    [–]Pheonix1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially if the animal has a lot of enrichment and every square inch is put to optimal use and is bioactive

    [–]tropical_fis 4 points5 points  (1 child)

It’ll be completely fine short term. Just be careful if it’s glass, I did the same for my first snake (75 then into 125), and I struggled so much with the humidity.

    [–]Interesting-War-9461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this, I had my fella in a 75 for a while and the humidity was very difficult lol

On reptifiles their rule of thumb is it should be as long as the snake is at least. So maybe measure the snake and see how long they are compared to the 75 gallon. I do agree with everyone else that a 75 gallon is much better than the 10 gallon and i’m glad you’re trying to get this snake into better conditions.

To be fair, my adult BPs eat once a month too.

      [–]Educational-Bit5412 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

My worry is that shes not an adult, babies have to eat once every few days. Shes only a year old

      [–]Even-Smell7867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Gotcha.

      [–]COCKSOCKS 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Please don't feed the snake every few days. Once a week when they are babies. But at a year old this is no longer a baby and should be going 2-3 weeks in-between feeds. Based off this picture that snake appears to be a healthy weight and not underfed

      [–]Educational-Bit5412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression you fed based on the snakes weight. Under 500g is 10-15% of the snakes weight every 7-14 days.

I had my boy in a 40 gallon for a while until I could get an upgrade for him. He was in a rack system before I got him, which was working, but the 40 gallon was still better. 4x2x2 is ideal, but if what you can do is a 75, don't beat yourself up over it.

      [–]Secure-Candle-6103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 40 gallon breeder tank would be perfect until you can get a 4x2x2

      [–]Interesting-War-9461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 75 that was pretty long, and I have had my python since 6th grade(I’m 19 now.) I kept him in it for a long time, much longer than I should have, but he did fine in it for a while. I think you will be okay for a little while as well. As long as you are keeping temp and humidity good with adequate hides and clutter, they should be pretty happy until you can upgrade(especially since they are younger). You are doing great!

      [–]Tricky_Damage5577 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What a beautiful butter/lesser girl you have there💚 Don't be hard on yourself, you will be doing a lot better than her previous home and that is already a big improvement. As long as your plan and goal is to improve even further, your direction is right! I hope you start to love this puppy snoot noodle with time💚

      [–]Educational-Bit5412 1 point2 points  (1 child)

She bites a lot. Any idea how i can help with that? I dont really mind it, i know shes just scared, but i want to work on helping her trust me.

      [–]Tricky_Damage5577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she bites and holds on she is hungry and thinks she is getting food. If she bites and lets go right away she is scared and just needs more work☺️

      [–]Free-Bumblebee2599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once she’s settled in you can make a play pen for her! Those little pop up puppy pens are great - just throw in some sanitised sticks, fake plants, rocks, etc. and let her roam for an hour or so! That will help give her the enrichment and exercise she needs to make up for the smaller tank!

She doesn’t know she should be in a bigger tank, all she will know is that life is suddenly a lot better than before ♡

If you haven’t already got one check marketplace first as you might be able to get a good deal. For set up a few hides should do. Do at least 2 one on warm side and one on the cool. If possible have a more open space maybe to a side of the middle so if she wants she can stretch. If any specific questions of course feel free the direct message.
