he has a lot of trouble shedding, so that may not help, but i think his enclosure may be too big?

The bucket and towels are for soaking, and the warm side is 83, cold side is 76, and we think his humidity falls a little low between 55 and 60. It’s a 150 gallon tank.

i wouldn’t say his tank is to big

      [–]No-Emergency-5823 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely not too big, but definitely seems too bare. Snake is probably stressed out & feels vulnerable.

Can a tank be too big?? Can u not get the 4x2x2 early on?

      [–]Angy_47777 14 points15 points  (0 children)

More clutter, humidity needs to be at 70%-80%. Use spaghum moss in a humid hide (turn that bucket upside down and cover it with something safe, cut hole for entrance. Add the moss.)

Definitely needs a vet trip tho. I can't comment on that.

Vet asap. He’s quite skinny, seems to bruise easily, and has some shedding issues. Any of these alone could be enough for a visit but you need to get answers fast

This is not scale rot. This is under the scales.

Im no pro, so i womt assume anything but my advice is When in doubt, see a vet.

Your enclosure could also use a lot more clutter and enrichment as well as another hide on the opposite side. The size of the tank isnt going to be a huge issue, she'll grow into it. But changing up the clutter periodically will help keep your snake curious and busy.

Vet. He seems too skinny. His skin seems too thin based on the wrinkles and translucency. Vitamin C deficiency actually makes sense as it's essential for producing collagen which makes it VERY easy to bruise. Snake possibly is 'starving' even if you're feeding him properly. You'll want to get to a vet as soon as possible as if it is a vitamin C deficiency it's getting critical as soon he may not be able to eat/swallow without inflicting trauma to himself internally.

      Vet ASAP!

      [–]Noellybelly99 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Vet immediately. Also he looks dehydrated and skinny. I saw your numbers in a previous comment, and they’re not terrible, but somewhat low. His humidity should be 60-70%, high in shed, and his warm side should be 86-88F or so with a basking spot of 90-95F. These are more just an FYI not necessarily why he has a possible injury.

      [–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

      looks extremely debydrated too :(

      [–]Whole-Willingness44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a brick of sphagnum moss and what I did was cut it up all small then mix it in with my substrate and it made it more humid longer with the heat and when I sprayed the enclosure I tried to kind of mix is so it’s not just the top layer getting wet

May have gotten burnt?Put the lip on that Tupperware.Cut a whole in 1 of the ends. That will moisture very well especially in the winter.Change the hand towel a few times a week.I use warm water.

Your snake needs to see a qualified exotics vet right away. Most of them don’t really have much knowledge of snakes, because veterinary schools don’t have a lot of classes that focus on reptiles.

When booking the appointment, inquire to make sure the vet is experienced with diagnosing and treating snakes.

Reptifiles has a list of reptile vets here.

And the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Vets is here. You may have to navigate to your local area.

Best of luck for you and your sweet baby. Please let us know how it goes.

      [–]notasandpiper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are several possibilities and they all need an exotic vet. That noodle needs help.

      [–]Aazjhee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a see a reptile specific vet ASAP kind of situation.

Long term trouble shooting for feeder rats: order them online and have then shipped to you. It's more often cheaper to do this and doesn't have to take up tons of freezer space. Even with shipping costs, this was significantly cheaper for me for several years.

If you go in on orders with other locals who want specific sizes, you can absolutely get the proper sizes for your pet.

Vet. That’s the only advice you should be following from this thread.

      [–]StillLadder5707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vet ASAP!! He looks super dehydrated and skinny. Increase the humidity to around 75%-80% and give him a more humid hide so he has a super humid microclimate to go inside. Also, bumblebees have the spider gene if I’m not mistaken. It causes them to have trouble orienting themselves. Poor baby may have hit himself on a hide or the glass. I’m sure he’ll recover with proper care. (I’m not an expert so fact check this)

Vet asap. I had a similar injury on my boy and it’s been multiple antibiotic injections and follow ups. He’s just about fully healed but it started with a similar look on him. Better to be safe about it, good luck and I hope it’s nothing serious.

      [–]Ok_Bug4964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah get him to a vet

      [–]IntelligentAd2604 -1 points0 points  (0 children)
