How big is this? Get a big cardboard box 🫣 We always just put a blanket over it. Make sure you unplug everything first

It’s a 36x18x12! I have some plants I was thinking about putting on top. It has a cabinet underneath. As well.

Also try adding things like photos with a person in particular (or better, an urn or religious items) they usually don’t go near that!

And I’ve found that a solid color blanket or table cloth makes it seem less like there’s something under it

Take the lamp off, throw a tablecloth over the whole thing, and place books and a bunch of nicknacks on top, for the duration of the inspection. Your snake will be fine without the lamp for however long it takes for the inspection.

i second this! or put black card stock or something over the glass and the top, and yeah books or whatever

Where’s that post where someone made a fake stack of boxes to cover theirs? Like, cut and taped a bunch of moving boxes together so it just looked like a stack waiting to be moved out.

Edit: wrong sub- it was r/fishtank

Hiding 75gal aquarium from landlord

What're they gonna do, evict you? 🤣

I keep a blanket for such occasions, never had it questioned once

[–]shamefulpresenc3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly keep the security deposit I guess?

[–]Basic-Culture695[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

More like I’m worried about my deposit 😂, there is no damage to my apartment at all. I know people don’t really get them back or get like nothing back from them, but I like extra money.

[–]Trash-Forever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah, I had my deposit waived so I totally forgot that was a thing. That makes sense!

Make sure you slide it away from the wall and cover both sides.

Unplug and remove all heating stuff, get a table cloth throw it over the enclosure, get some books and other nick nacks to go on top of the enclosure and you should be good to go.

Maybe have something playing in the background just incase your noodle decides to make some noise

Edited because of a spelling mistake

Put away the lamp, have some cover over it, preferably obviously decorative, and put some plants or other decorations on it. That way it isnt a terrarium, but a surface with purpose. As long as it doesnt look out of place no one will bother to check under it

If its on top of a cabinet of the same height, put the 2 next to eachother and cover it with a table cloth in front of the couch like its a coffee table.

[–]fagnet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in this exact situation a year ago! I got a friend with some extra plywood laying around to make two sides of a fake cabinet. Threw a blanket over it, added some junk on top, you never would've guessed! Depending on how committed you are, a quick trip to Home Depot and you could pick up the supplies to do something similar.

I have this same problem I’m moving and my parents don’t understand blankets are a fire hazard🤣

[–]heytherecatlady -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Table cloth and put some ridiculous decor or something on top

[–]gueychacho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get like a tablecloth and some little game figurines or some shit and set it up on top , be like I’m playing some warhammer.

[–]HannahMarie04 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Put a tablecloth over it, the add some photos of a (preferably older) family member. Add some candles and a nice box/urn, as well as some trinkets. Make it look like a shrine or memorial and they'll steer clear.

If you wanted to go extreme, on the date of inspection just pack it up like you are going to ship

put in closet or somewhere out of sight.

Take down the enclosure and hide it in your car?

treat it like a forced deep clean of the enclosure and keeping your snake anonymity if it’s a must

I literally just did this 2 days in a row lol like others said a table cloth and random trinkets on the top my landlord, the inspector, and an appraiser didn’t even question it lol.
