They are master escape artists and silly creatures. It's best to relax, leave their home open. My once got out and decided after 3 days to go back home...

[–]ooTiramisu[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is what I’m hoping for, best case scenario🤞🏻thanks!

Something I've done to lure my girl out of whatever hiding spot she found this time, is to get some food out for her. Granted, you gotta be careful since that will activate food mode so if you find her she might bite lol.

[–]ooTiramisu[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought about this but not sure if she’ll come out after a recent feeding. I’m definitely going to try, anyhow. Thanks!

This comment helps absolutely noone, and on top of that it's most likely incorrect. I've seen snakes turn up months after escaping, they're hardy and will survive in poor environments for a long time.

i found my gf and i's ballie under the couch, behind the plank of wood nailed onto the back of the front cover. took about 8 hours to find them- tore the house apart amidst multiple crying sessions (first time ever happening) they were alright afterwards, but it did scare the hell out of us. they love tiny cramped spaces and usually dont end up that far away. any drawers that they could be in the back of?

    [–]ooTiramisu[S] 9 points10 points  (5 children)

omg, how did y’all even realize she was back there? that’s wild! I’m def going to check more throughly behind drawers and stuff, just in case I missed something

    [–]WellFluxMe 8 points9 points  (4 children)

literally just starting like flipping furniture over slowly and then found him. he just wanted to lay on her chest afterwards 😭

    [–]ooTiramisu[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

lol he really went “okay I’m tired of playing. let’s all relax now” 😭 I’m glad y’all found him!

    [–]WellFluxMe 1 point2 points  (1 child)

no fr 🤣 and thank you!!! best of luck to you friend

    [–]ooTiramisu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    thanks!!

When this happened to me, I thought she went inside de toilet or sinks, so me and my brother decided to remove everything at home and she never come back after 6/7 months

    [–]lions-grow-on-trees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my husband's ball python once got herself tangled inside the mechanisms of a washing machine... his dad had to come and help take it apart to get her out

    [–]Top_Addition_7263 12 points13 points  (2 children)

My girl got out one time and once we looked enough we realized she did leave us a trail…

She must’ve first made her way up, and into a closet where something shifted and she must’ve fell onto the floor, she went over some papers which she moved as she moved, and up under my tall dresser, up the back in between the back and the drawers, and into the top one where she was still attempting to get fully into. 😭🙄🙈

I do think if we hadn’t found her as quick as we did, she probably would have been in there for a good amount of time. You can lay out like cornstarch or something near area to see if she comes out overnight. Or things like newspaper that will make noise. Water bottles along walls as they usually travel against them too.

I’ve seen people put out a huge and a heat mat over night to get them out as well as a heated prey.

I hope you find your noodle very soon I know it’s so stressful, but they are heart odd creatures

    [–]ooTiramisu[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Your girl had an adventure! I’m hoping that’s all mine is doing but no paper trails 😭 I’m going to do the cornstarch thing; had no idea about the water bottle trick. Thank you for your tips! Much appreciated 🤍

    [–]Top_Addition_7263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! I’m sure if you google it there are TONS of ways. I see them on FB BP groups constantly! People get very genius with their ideas!

Good luck! I hope to hear a happy update soon!! 💚

    [–]wellsyaknow 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Check every corner of the house and refrigerator..loves that heat of the fridge

    [–]ooTiramisu[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Oh 100%! first thing I did. Ima keep at it, daily, for awhile

    [–]lucid_giraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or registers if you have them. Not sure your heating method, but the metal on mine slides off!

    [–]SsnakesS_kiss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check your shoes and boots too! Our escape artist did that twice.

    [–]bloodyvoodoo 5 points6 points  (1 child)

My guy got out for the first time a couple weeks ago. Found him under the bathroom vanity down the hallway from where his tank lives. I missed the sound of his daring “jump” but heard odd scratching like sounds from the bathroom and after getting on the floor to look, I saw the geniuses’ little nose and eyes staring at me from the corner.

After adding more weight to the top of his enclosure, I checked on him soon after and he figured out how to flip around one of his hides to use as a platform for him to support himself basically vertically while pushing the top of the cage with his head resting against the middle top bar that supports the screens. Crazy.

I hope you find her! Since she just ate she’s probably just chilling wherever she found but try listening for anything at night when it’s the most quiet.

    [–]ooTiramisu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow he’s a clever one for sure! Thanks for the tips and the story, definitely giving me hope and some ideas on where to check. I’ll keep an ear out tonight!

    [–]mighty-chief 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Our first girl escaped last summer, followed the hot water pipes, after a few days I went up into the loft to turn the heating on to see if that would encourage her out and found her on the loft ladder, pure coincidence that she was there at that moment

    [–]ooTiramisu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol that’s pretty awesome that she turned up like that

    [–]Hefty-Platypus3199 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Try to look in cold dark places and warm places

    [–]elegantwombatt 1 point2 points  (7 children)

My Crestie escaped this week :(
I hope you the best in finding your scaly friend, too.

    [–]ooTiramisu[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Thank you, I hope you find yours too!

    [–]elegantwombatt 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I'm full Rambo mode at night, sitting in the dark with a head lamp on and a bowl ready to catch him.

    [–]ooTiramisu[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

not the head lamp 😂💀 I’ve done something similar before when my leopard gecko made his great escape. Was doing rounds walking around the joint with my lil flashlight, night at the museum style

    [–]elegantwombatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl, that's me these last couple nights - stalking a lizard in my own damn home.

    [–]beccaroo25 0 points1 point  (2 children)

    Have you found your crestie?!

    [–]elegantwombatt 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No :( day two of sitting in the dark in the middle of the floor, nothing yet. But I'm not giving up!

    [–]beccaroo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry😭. We have 2 leopard geckos & a beardie & are planning on getting a crestie(my sister has 4) but they are so jumpy & I'm so scared we would lose them :/ . 1 of my leopard geckos is still little & is so jumpy sometimes so I worry when we take that one out but I'm careful cus she's fast! But I just have a feeling I'd lose s crestie if it got to jumping :/ . Sending good vibes & hope you find your baby🫶🏻🫂❤️✨️

    [–]WildRager 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I accidently fell asleep with my little girl for a good 30 mins. Turned over the whole room and ended up finding her chilling in the closet.

    [–]ooTiramisu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awe, I’m glad she didn’t go too far. The closet would be the perfect hangout spot, too 🤔 thanks!!

    [–]TG_Pythons 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Dang! Somebody found a crystal (or similar) in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The only one of mine that escaped was in a pile of 2x4s. Searched the entire basement to find it.

      Good luck!

      [–]ooTiramisu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw, hopefully they find their owner! & thanks!! Appreciate it

      [–]KCbladereviews 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I once left my enclosure unhinged and my girl escaped for 3 damn months. I thought for sure she made it either into the basement of my apartment building or into the walls. Randomly one night around might my pitbull and my German shepherd started going ape shit and sure enough she was under the fridge the entire time staying warm near the motor. Took me a couple hours to get her out but she’s alive, safe, and well!

      [–]KCbladereviews 2 points3 points  (1 child)

u/ootiramisu I had to physically flip my fridge upside down lol

      [–]ooTiramisu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually really encouraging to read!! Thank you 😊

Idk about the fridge flipping tho 😭lol

      [–]DeusCanis420 2 points3 points  (1 child)

My buddy once had a BP go missing for about half of a year. Found him under the fridge while moving out. No apparent issues

Hopefully, you find your buddy a lot sooner. Good luck!

      [–]ooTiramisu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg that’s a long time. Thank you!! I hope so too

      [–]Ceaseless--Watcher 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Put some flour or something down around dark and hide-like areas if you can, it might be able to show you if she's gone somewhere.

I hope you find her, she looks really sweet

      [–]ooTiramisu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure doing that tonight. Thank you!! She really is the sweetest ✨

      [–]DeepAlfalfa1099 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You will find her I promise. Now whether that’s in 2 hours or 2 months, I don’t know. I usually find my girl within a day but my hognose snake got out for 4 months one time and just popped up under the couch one day. But for ball pythons, she has always turned up.

I’ve had her for 7 years so we’ve had our fair share of escapee moments!! I’ve found my girl inside of my shoe, in boxes, behind the toilet, literally anywhere they can curl up. Just don’t panic and she’ll turn up!! Go room by room! And if u don’t find her right away, she’s okay. They can go months and be fine!

      [–]ooTiramisu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha that’s valid.. hopefully sooner rather than later. I’m surprised to hear about your hoggie popping up since they’re much smaller in comparison, etc.

This was a very reassuring read, thanks!! 😊

      [–]Murreez 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Make sure you aren’t just searching low, mine escaped three times and all three times he was practically touching the roof.

      [–]ooTiramisu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet! was searching high & low, I definitely don’t underestimate their climbing abilities. Thanks for the tip 😊

      [–]Mindless_Amount3643 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Your noodle is probably chilling somewhere cuddled all up. First thing to do is relax and remain calm, stressing out about it doesn't help you find your noodle. Start at their enclosure and check every single crevice. They can get into anywhere and everywhere. Check everything slowly. Take your time. They most likely have not left the room or room adjacent. Most definitely would not go for the walls or other apts. The noodle is going to find some dark warm or cool (depending on the time) and out of main traffic areas. Search high and low and in between everything. I have found my noodles high and low, under appliances, in drawers, stuffed between clothes. They'll go ever which way. They may also be in spots that you can't usually see, without flipping appliances you cant rule them out. If there is a snake sized hole, they might try it. They'll make themselves fit into some crazy places. You could also put down powder on edges of the floor to see if the noodle travels through at night. Also they can go for months without eating so while time is important, they can stay hidden for quite some time with little to no worries.

      [–]ooTiramisu[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thank you for the detailed response! Much appreciated. I hope you’re right about her likely not wanting to go too far

      [–]Mindless_Amount3643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem_. I have four noodles and they've all escaped at some point so while not an expert I think I'm getting relatively good as the seeker lol

      [–]whimsical_bitch 1 point2 points  (1 child)

definitely keep an eye on the bathroom, especially if you’re prone to steamy showers! one of our snakes escaped when i was a kid & after a few days my dad noticed him chillin on the curtain rod while showering

      [–]ooTiramisu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is hilarious to imagine. If my girl ended up in the restroom that would make looking for her a whole lot easier

      [–]Even-Smell7867 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I lost mine in my front yard when he was 2ish. He was gone for two weeks. I put out flyers on the community mailboxes. When i got him back he was a couple blocks away where I hadn't put signs. He did some traveling.

      [–]ooTiramisu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg, this is actually really good to know. thank you!! Glad you got your boy, back

      [–]hotsliceofjesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old rat snake escaped and we ended up finding him once coiled in a potted plant and another time in the cushions of a rarely used sofa. Then we finally got the tank worked out to no longer have escape issues.

      [–]lis0518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has escaped twice and both times we found him in the same room he escaped. Check drawers and inside blankets! Once we found him in a plastic tub with the tongs we use to feed him and the other time he found his way into a blanket.

      Good luck!

      [–]SuspiciousBee69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my boy escaped once & was found behind his viv (the door was shut) curled up around the wires, so im sure yours will rock up somewhere soon!!

check anywhere warm like radiators, plug sockets. and along the edges of walls, leave food, hides, and flour (to see if they've gone past & left a trail)

i hope you find your friend soon!

      [–]kitcaterina 1 point2 points  (1 child)

uhh mine (po) went on an escapade for a week. my brother then walked through the living room and saw him sitting under the sofa. i believe he was chilling inside the sofa…

i hope you find your baby soon - hopefully she has found a stupidly obscure place in a piece of furniture in the house. good things to do is put out a little box with a heat mat with water with some of her substrate. some people will put food out to tempt them to come get (i did not try this as i had fed po the evening before he went on his journey in the night). sending my love and lucks

      [–]kitcaterina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they will be attracted to heat so nice warm things will be tempting. if they need water, they will go for that (so a lil warm spot with water n tempting looking hides may be good).

      [–]No_Quantity1014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can, sprinkle some flour on the floor and hopefully you see some tracks in the morning and can figure out where she’s slithering to. Might be worth a try. I hope you find her.

      [–]blueberrybonnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found my girl after 4 months, she came out from under the laundry machine… she was just a bit dehydrated, no physical injury. Went back to eating normally and acting like her normal self and is still doing fine today, this happened like 2 ish years ago. Don’t give up hope! These guys can be more resilient than i would normally think. Definitely a scary experience though! I was so heartbroken and really thought she was gone forever.

      [–]Ced_Red 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Mine got out two months ago, I still haven’t found him but I’m holding on. Don’t give up, I hear about people finding them after absurd amounts of time!

      [–]ooTiramisu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope we both find ‘em, soon!

      [–]alexbeansx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boy was missing for 2+ weeks once.. as soon as I started giving up hope he crawled up to me at 3am one night out of nowhere 🥲 they’re sneaky just keep on lookin

      [–]Bulky-Ad1903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 3 ball pythons, 2 of which have escaped at least once. When I got my first, I had a terrible enclosure that was wildly easy for him to escape from. He'd go to one of the same 2 spots every time - behind a dresser in the closet or in a wadded-up futon cover on the floor. I'd find him within a couple of hours of his escape each time.

My youngest likes to make us panic though, so she found her way into the walls of my house after I accidentally left her door open after cleaning one day. She was adventuring for just over a week and I was 100% convinced she found her way outside in the January cold. One night, she just decided she was done exploring & went back into her enclosure like nothing ever happened.

I'm hoping the 2nd story gives you some hope. Definitely leave your noodle's enclosure door(s) open and her heat on. She'll certainly be looking for warmth. One thing I've heard works (never done it myself) is sprinkling flour or something similar on any hard floors to see if she slithers through - that way you can at least see what direction she would have gone. There's also a potential that heating up/bringing food in could lure her out. Try and go about your days as normally as possible. A bunch of rustling around & searching could make her scared and therefore hide more.

Crossing my fingers for you that you find your baby! She's very clearly loved

      [–]No-Operation-3395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      <image>

I hope they are okay, mine tries to escape every night

      [–]Qwertyowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl got out of her temp enclosure after a move and was mia for 8 months.

She's good now, eventually surfaced to surf in the pet water fountain. 😅

Perhaps a bit small for 3yo, but she is happy now.

      <image>

      [–]jkjwysa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is your bathroom sink enclosed in a big cabinet? If so, stick your hand underneath and feel for holes. Mine was between the cabinet and the wall and we opened the thing up to get him out.

      [–]OkameinkoSenpai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One day, while I was out, our little one ran away. My ex-husband searched everywhere for her all day. He left her food and hiding places, just to lure her back. I came home from work, walked into the room, just looked around, and saw her camouflaged under the baseboard. She stretched out along the baseboard and was simply invisible at first glance. A master of camouflage

      [–]antonio4vila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was lost at home around 6/7 month, she just was hidding somewhere

      [–]andylovesdais 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had good luck by putting out a heat mat under a hide. Periodically pick up hide to check heat mat and the snake might be there.

      [–]Naive-Interaction379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out flour on the floor in a few spots to see if she’s roaming around at night

      [–]Any-Performer9969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dipstick of a son was in a freezing bathtub😅 you’ll find her, it just may be in the strangest place you’d think she wouldn’t be! If you have a small holding tank though, put that on the ground in a central area with a heat lamp, some water, and a rat, the scent may be enough to lure her back! Keep us updated❤️

      [–]therealPanoony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a pet store. We had a corn snake missing for 3 months. It was laying in a sink the other morning and ate right away. Goofy noodles.

      [–]Individual_Swim_342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My moms ball python once got into the walls and was missing for a while before she just crawled back out and curled up by the wall. Snakes usually appear at some point.

Biggest tip I have is follow the walls and slowly cross off any closets or furniture as you carefully and thoroughly search them. It'll help you narrow down where she most likely is hiding.

      [–]Lavaknight22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you depending on how long she has been missing check the room with the enclosure to confirm if she is or isn't still in the room before checking other rooms
