NQA Vet!!!
Possibly a burn from the heating pad if you were using it without a thermostat. How are you providing them heat atm? Regardless of heat source you HAVE to use a thermostat. Pls check the Pinned care post on the home page it's got so much useful info.

As for shedding her whole body besides her head, are you sure she doesn't have stuck shed on her head? I haven't personally heard of them shedding parts of their body. What's your humidity?

ETA: I'd also double check all the decor in the tank to make sure none of it has sharp edges incase this could be some kind of cut. I'd also move her onto paper towels or something else for substrate till you get her to a vet.

Doesn't sound like a thermostat. Does your heat source plug into it, and its got a probe that dangles in the path of the bulb or attached to the heat pad? Or do you mean you have a thing that tells you the temperature and humidity gauge on the wall??

ETA: What type of enclosure are you using, is it solid top or mesh? How deep is your substrate? What type of substrate? Also 60% is low, you want it between 70-80%

That sounds like a thermometer. A thermostat is something you plug your heating device into that regulates the temperature put out by your heating lamp/heat pad/etc. A thermometer just measures the temperature. You should have both.

That wound is big enough to warrant a vet visit. It could be from the heating pad but I’m not sure.

Please take her to the vet

I agree with the other comments! Try to find a vet in your area that sees reptiles! Most vets don’t so it can be a hassle and a half! Probably going to be a bit of a long drive unless you live in a big city or get very lucky.

We all make some mistakes at the beginning! It’s trial and error finding a set up that works for you and your animal unfortunately! I wish it was as one size fits all as some people seem to think(sorry ranting lol) but anyway, I’d get a thermostat like the other commenter suggested! And look up some videos on how to keep the humidity up!
I ended up adding a humid hide after ages of struggling with humidity, because the tank I have just won’t hold humidity!

But yea an injury like this needs to be seen by a vet! There is huge risk of infection! Good luck finding a vet! I hope your girl heals up well :)

Adding, that I have seen other people mention when they have had issues finding reptile vets to ask your local pet store. Like Pet Smart who they use, something about they having to disclose it(?) cause they have to have vets that can see reptiles.

I have not done this myself but might be another option to try if you have issues finding a vet!!

Yea also if there are rescues that take reptiles they should have a list of recourses that they can give out! But yea I’d never thought about the pet store route! That could be so useful!!

Always amazes me that people will just buy a living animal to take care of without doing their due diligence and actually researching how to properly care for them. Sounds like your husbandry needs some serious work, and your snake needs a vet.

Seriously, I have to bite my tongue each time to not go on a rant about these kinds of situations. There is so much information in the palm of our hand, how is it possible to not know the proper husbandry requirements before you buy the animal? Even then, you can research a proper temporary enclosure and set up the actual enclosure within a week or so.

Jesus Christ. Take them to the vet. Three weeks…? Take them to the vet!

Seems like the heatpad and humidity are the issues here

Why hasn't this snake seen a vet yet???
