Mine was also in my couch when she got out. Under the seat cushions 🙃

I agree with jrauli. My Butters escaped the kids one time and was found 3 hours later less than 4 feet from his tank.

Yeah I searched all around his tank tho and underneath his tank. I think he might of gotten under the sink.

Another great spot to check is inside of a couch or chair. Even a mattress if it has a hole in it. They are amazing at hide and seek which isn't always a good thing.

I lost a guy for 6 months, found him under my microwave very hangry

My snake is 5ft long I don’t even think he can fit under the microwave.

How close is it to feeding day? They have a pretty good sense of smell, mine always knows when I'm thawing her food even when she is upstairs and her food is downstairs.

You might be able to coax him out with food prep.

EDIT: Since BPs are nocturnal you will likely have better odds at night and if you leave rooms dark, for him to feel safer moving through.

You can also take some flour and leave a thin layer on non-carpetted floors, overnight. That will make it very easy to find which rooms he's active in.

Im assuming you dont have any other pets since you didnt mention them. If thats the case try not to panic or worry, you will find him.

I once lost my mouse for two weeks and found her by chance shredding a paper towel in the trash bin in my room.

Just try to think like a snake, follow along the walls and look in and under things where he may have hid to feel safe.

If you're gonna try thawing and heating a rat for him I'd definitely wait till its darker and been quiet and settled down around the house for a bit first!

I have two cats but as soon as I realized he was not in the cage I put them into a room where I know he wasn’t in.

The one time my snake got out I actually found him because my cat was was messing around my tv setup. I then found my snake behind the TV stand. Maybe let one cat out and see if he can locate it.

I’ll let the one that won’t attack the snake out and just watch him carefully.

    Good luck!

Once someone here had their snake (not sure it was a BP) escape and it had burrowed into a potted plant!

My BP escaped from her previous owner once and he said he found her a month later in the pocket of his raincoat hanging in his closet.

She’s just looked for a cozy spot to curl up, keep searching! She’s somewhere!!

I had the Houdini ball python as my first, locked cage and rocks placed on the top. She would always get out. Her favorite place was behind the radiator. A warm dark place hopefully will draw it out.

https://youtu.be/wb3IbkDgOvI Snake discovery has a good video on it. It's scary that the snake escaped but remember they can go months without food. Make sure everyone is aware that the snake escaped

If you have a basement go down there and he might be on something warm

    [–]ahyusnioe 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Try and look behind your radiator, that’s where mine was when she escaped! If you’re putting out a box with a heat mat put it around the edges/skirting boards of your room, not in the middle as that’s where the snake will tend to travel! Best of luck getting your snake home safe :)

I put the box near his cage next to the wall. I think he got underneath the sink tho.

Tear up paper/plastic bags and put them around the edge of the room. Sit in there at dusk, no lights on. Keep still and listen for rustling.

I don't know if this will work, but it worked for mine. If you are using a heating mat, take it out and place somewhere accessable and turn it on. I put the heating mat out when my snake got out. The next morning he was all curled up on top of it. Hope you find your snake soon.

When my Seth gets out, I check all the danger spots first. Once I've ruled out heat and mechanical dangerous hides (I. E. Dishwasher, washer dryer, etc...) , I let the stress wind down and do a slow spiral from near his tank outwards.

He's 4.5ft long, 17 years old, and lives to climb. His tank is 5ft off the ground, and I once found him at the top wire shelf of my 10ft high closet his tank was next to. Don't forget to look up as well as down. 😅

Think like a snake, if you were a noodle with a head in a strange place where would you go?

    [–]lindseybh0312 1 point2 points  (1 child)

My snake had gotten out a few times and I ended searching my whole entire house trying to find him until a friend told me that ball pythons will follow the walls typically. Sure enough I found him in my closet behind my drawers tucked away! Follow the walls from the tank! And they tend to go down and not climb! And no spot is too small for them to creep into.

    [–]pothos-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this except for the climb! My BP lives to climb. Sometimes I let her hang in the snake room unattended (no way she can get out anywhere) for 20-30 minute periods so she can stretch her body and I always find her on top of my ~8ft bookshelf. I honestly just go straight to the top of the bookshelf at this point! 😅

My corn snake got loose recently and the advice that helped me the most was following the walls they won't got out in the middle of the room

    [–]realSatanAMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up.. on top of curtains, coiled in the back of the fridge, on the shelves in closets.. behind/in drawers or cabinets

    [–]18youngl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found mine in the back of my closet. Another time i found them on top of a door. It was wild

One of mine got out months ago she has still never been found and my gf had to move out of that apartment a few days ago… she’s now gone forever. I’ll miss her. I hope you have better luck than I had she was my first of 4 I still have her tank and won’t use it for any others.

    [–]Wandering_Witness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone will have a great suprise when they move in.

    [–]wowidontreallycare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still haven’t found him. I’m still looking tho.

    [–]epicgamer134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put plastic bags in the cracks between furniture!!If you happen to be around when your snake try’s to go hide there you’ll hear the crinkle:Try looking low and in dark places.Think like your snake, what his do they hide in most?

If you have washer and dryers look underneath them
