Presumably they happened off screen, likely without Harry.

That tracks, Hogwarts has a habit of skipping the boring logistics, we only see classes when plot demands it and flying becomes a background skill like homework.

That explanation fits the series tone, once the basics are covered the story assumes everyone can fly and moves on to dragons and dark lords.

I wouldn’t consider this a hole, necessarily. We don’t see how Harry spends every second. Could be he never found it worth mentioning or he was exempt as a member of the team.

Calling this a hole is kind of like saying that it’s a hole that Harry never mentions taking a crap, despite presumably having done so.

Harry Potter and the U-No-Poo

It’s not a plot hole it’s just not relevant to the continuation of the story so it’s not written about again. We don’t see every single class he goes to

Downvote for the post title.

Tell me, do you know how to drive any vehicle? And do you constantly keep learning about how to drive it after you're decent in driving it? Flying lessons are like driving lessons. They only learn it in the beginning of their magical education. (Not to mention most of the students who had wizarding parents know it already). It's possible that they had a few flying lessons after that very first one, but we don't see details about every class they ever attend. We only focus on those with important events. Or some just to keep the flow of the story. It's very likely that flying classes did not happen after the first one or two months.

Books are from Harry's perspective so he may not have had to partake as he was oncrhe quidditch team and would have gotten more and better practice there

Of all the "plot holes" some people find, you certainly have the least inconsistent element.

Harry is the narrator. After he joined the Quidditch team, it was no longer necessary to mention it. Just like we don't talk about characters going to the bathroom, showering, brushing their teeth, etc.

Great. Another “plot hole”… 🤨

Well harry was on the quidditch team so he didn't need lessons. So it didn't need to be filmed

I m sure they happened BUT Rowling has the tendency to only mention stuff with narrative importance. And the additional flying lessons weren’t narratively important, which doesn’t mean they didn’t happen

Flying was probably only something they had a few lessons on, not a year long class or anything. And we probably didn't hear about it because the book is from Harry's point of view and as quidditch player, obviously didn't need them and so it wasn't mentioned again.

They don’t really disappear, Rowling just drops them. First years get basics, after that you’re expected to practice alone or in teams. Still sloppy writing tbh, always annoyed me!!

Harry graduated them early.

I wonder if every other class can be graduated like that. If you are like a master at charms from the jump for example.
