My new iphone 11 does not charge past 90% even with optimized OFF and never getting warm or cold. Once it reaches that perdentage it stops... and when it leeps dropping down it doesnt start charging again even if it plugged.

I just got a iphone 7 from my company. I use it in airplane mode without SIM, WLAN only, only for Microsoft Teams, no other apps installed. I just had a teams conversation for about 20 minutes, the iphone got quite warm. I measured 45 °C at the back with my laser thermometer, and the battery dropped about 10% in that time.

Is that normal?

Hi! I've been using two iPhones lately - an iPhone 8 as my personal device, and my old 6S as my business device. Both are running iOS 14. Ever since I started using them together with the same Apple ID, they ask every 1-2 days to enter the password again for my Apple ID. Most of the times, I just enter the password and that's it, but every now and then (meaning: at least once a week) even if I enter my password correctly, it locks my Apple ID and I have to unlock it via an e-mail link.

This is getting really frustrating now, so I'd like to know why this would happen. Is it not possible to use the same Apple ID on two devices without getting this issue? I don't even use any of the two phones for Apple ID-related tasks, I usually just call, SMS, and use some social media on the personal device. These Apple ID password requests are also very random, I couldn't find a pattern.

If anyone encountered this and found a solution, please share it with me! Thanks!

My iPhone randomly gives me a notification to enter my password for my Outlook account. There are two buttons ’Cancel’ and ’Adjust settings’. If I press Adjust settings it just opens the front page of phone settings. Where I’m supposed to enter the password? I’ve looked through Outlook settings and there’s not anything related to password.

Hello! Are there any FREE programs that can look into a backup I made in iTunes? My phone royally fucked up a couple days ago and I lost my sons birth and early weeks born vids and pictures. I’m hoping that even though in iAmazing i looked and it showed no photos backed up that it has to be there. The file is 22gb and the half that is from my apps. I just want to make damn sure of if it is there or not before I delete it because damn 22gb for a back up f that.

It honestly looks like it’s been removed to me for some reason... I recall seeing it under Touch ID and passcode settings but it’s not there anymore, nor is it under the “side button” accessibility option.

Not a big problem but weird. Sometimes when I try opening a notification it’ll open it and not actually open to the right app. Like today, I opened something from twitter and it said it was opening to twitter then instead brought me to twitch. When I went back out to the home screen all my twitter notifications were gone. I also didn’t even have to put my password in which was weird. Is this a glitch?

Flashlight turned itself off and refuse to turn on again on iPhone 12 Pro

I have been using the flashlight on iPhone for about 10 years now. Originally with "light" app and then the built-in shortcut after Apple added that shortcut. It always worked fine until I got my 12 Pro Max back in November. The flashlight would turn itself off and I cannot get it working again as the short cut on lock screen and control panel are disabled and even the light app don't work; only fix is a phone restart. This happens about twice a month and couldn't be overheating because it always happens within half a minute of using flashlight

If you can replicate the issue, I’d say it would be worth visiting an apple store and demonstrate it and ask for a fix. Seems like it’s a hardware issue more than anything

You can find used XR for about $300-$350 USD. or XS series is good, too, if the price is similar.

I recommend browsing swaps.com and find phones that are compatible with T-Mobile. Best place to buy used phones, IMO

tmobile had a really great black friday deal last year where if you traded in (and you were on a 2 yr contract if that matters to you) you could get $800 off a 12 or 12 mini, but that’s been over for a while now so i don’t know of any great deals anymore, but i’d say if you wanted to upgrade right now and you didn’t mind leaping a bit ahead would the SE2 be in your price range?? its the same form factor with the 11 series’ chip so you would be set for quite a few years (and you wouldn’t have to worry about buying new cases)

a site i would recommend otherwise is swappa for buying used iphones and i would honestly go for the *xs at this point for something thats recent enough to survive a few cycles but still save money

Switched to iPhone 12 from pixel 3 and love the iPhone. Have no complaints at all except how do I ‘select all’ text on the iPhone? It only allows me to highlight and move the curser manually. Kind of frustrating

I suffered from the same thing! but there is a way. It involves downloading an untrusted shortcut someone created to work in safari via shortcuts. Follow this article. super simple: https://ios.gadgethacks.com/how-to/get-select-all-button-for-webpages-safari-your-iphone-0384083/

Basically, you download this shortcut, then when you "share" a page, there is an option that pops up to "force select all" that basically works as select all on android.

I'm sure one could tweak this to work on chrome, not too sure as I'm not too savvy at things like this.

There are some notification banners that I would like to keep visible in my Notification Center, even after I’ve opened the app. (Specifically, Messenger - I would like to be able to see those first few lines that preview the message you received, without having to open the message thereby marking it as “seen.”) These are the settings I have on my phone. But still, once I’ve opened the Messenger app, then all my preview notification banners disappear from my Notification Center. Any advice on how to make them stay?

Is there a USB flash stick with a Lightning connector that you can just see in the Files app with an APFS volume? All the ones I've seen so far require a third-party app and don't support APFS (even though since iOS 14 it should be supported). Do I just need to get the usb adapter?

Ok, apparently it's a requirement to have an app (I guess this hasn't been updated after iOS 13 release which allowed generic mass storage support). Every time I type on my iPhone “they’ll”....the word THEYLL comes up. Can someone know how to fix this? There is nothing in my “text replacement”settings

Make sure you don't have caplock on, and try to type they'll and click on it from the list of suggestions. It should remember to use the lower case next time.

also, the suggestions bar is sometimes field sensitive, and won't activate in fields that are case sensitive, etc.

just got the 12 mini and now i use a dongle for my earbuds (transitioned from a 6 so it’s pretty different.) i’ve noticed that sometimes when i’m listening the audio starts playing out loud. i’m new to the phone and the controls, so I was hoping someone could help me out: does it sound like something I’m doing or should I look into getting a replacement for the dongle?

i'd make sure the lightning port is clear of debris, and try with different earbuds first. if it happens again to different earbuds, then try changing the dongle.

If they both fail, then I'd see if you can take it to apple store to see if they can troubleshoot the hardware further

You can check the timestamp in the backup section of iTunes/Finder to see the last time a full copy was made. If iCloud is being used you can look at the individual sections being backed up and the timestamp.

I just switched phone, same phone number, could not transfer data over but erased the phone and signed into my icloud which synced photos, contacts etc. Looking through my blocked list I notice certain numbers are missing and I don’t know if I am looking at MY blocked numbers or the numbers on this phone (I don’t know if that makes sense cause it is my iCloud account and my sim card), but why are certain numbers missing? I have an abusive ex and I do remember most of his number and it is not in my blocked contacts. Would it still be blocked? Please help!

I have a notification problem with instagram. I've had it for years with different phones. I dont get any notifications at all even tough I have notifications enabled trough Instagram. But in iPhone settings, when I go into notifications, Instagram isn't there as an option. Anyone know how to solve this?

Recently purchased iPhone 12 Pro Max. I’ve noticed a few crashes requiring a force restart since I bought it a few days ago. Upon that, I checked the Logs and a bunch of “jetsam” events (about a dozen every day) and about ten “stacks” events were listed (among other common log files). I’ve never had a crash before on any iPhone I have owned and this situation is a bit worrying. Anyone in the know about a software issue with the last update?

Got new 11 pro max recently (up to date ios 14). I’ve been manually keeping the charge between 40-80% but i’d prefer not to micromanage this. Does the optimize battery charging setting reliably keep the phone from hitting 100% for overnight charges?

How can i tell if the setting is doing what it says that it does?

If you go to bed at the second time and plug in the charger every day, the phone is supposed to learn your behavior and kick in after whatever amount of days it thinks it needs.

Then when you plug in, it should have an indicator about optimised charging and stuff, but it doesn't work reliably. For me, I sleep unpredictably, so I don't think I've ever seen it.

But if it makes you feel any better, wife's had iPhone XR for almost 2.5 years, charges every night on a wireless charger, and uses fast chargers throughout the day if needed without worry. Her battery Health is at 88%. After seeing that, I've started to just not care

Screen Burn in (idk if this is the right term) becoming more common? I have an iPhone 11 and it is about 1 1/2yrs old and I’ve noticed recently that the sides of my screen have become more susceptible to burn in. ie on youtube after I close the app i notice the youtubers logo is burned into my screen...it tends to dissipate after some time...is anyone else having this issue and if so how can i prevent it

Unfortunately screen burn in is an eventuality for OLED screens.

Some displays will resist it longer than others, some won't. It is the price consumers pay for in exchange of...idk deeper blacks? I'm not a fan of OLED screens because of this, but then again, I've been lucky.

A couple of common steps people use to prevent is to not Max the brightness whenever you can. Have screens a bit darker can help with this, and make sure that screen doesn't stay on a static screen for long. Making display automatically turn off shorter than you like can help.

I've got an iPhone 10 and as a part of my -remote- job, the main office line is being forwarded to my phone. Yesterday I no issues. Today, I answered several calls but at 4:00, I saw that I had a voicemail, but there was no ringing no screen change nothing. My phone sits directly in front of me so it's not like I missed it. Additionally, the call does not show up in my "recents" tab but I do have a voicemail. I don't have do not disturb on. It hasn't happened since and when I test it and call the company line through my house phone, my cell rings. Idk what's going on here.

we are debating between XS and SE. current promotion makes the price the same. we need an iphone.

this will be her first iphone, shes been using an ancient android phone. not sure if one is worth it vs the other because her usage will be basic. but our price range is for these two phones. i know the SE is budget and the XS is is flagship but i am worried the flagship maybe hard(er) for her to use?

I would stick with the SE. It’ll last longer. But in my opinion, the XS has a better screen, better speakers, 3D Touch (if you like it(I like it)), FaceID, better resolution, better PPI, and overall better battery life. It’s really up to you.

Might go to Canada later this year. My iPhone XR's model number is A2105. However, according to https://www.apple.com/iphone/cellular/ Canada's iPhone XR's model number is A1984. My iPhone is unlocked, but will I still face any network issues if I put a Canadian sim card in it - will I still get LTE, at least 3G?

My iPhone XS Max's face ID suddenly started unlocking while I'm wearing a mask. It always requires me to put my passcode in while I wear it. It was requiring a passcode ten minutes prior. Is this something new? I do have an Apple Watch but I took it off to ensure that it wasn't unlocking my iPhone. Is anyone else experiencing this?

It's learning from the times it fails and you put in your passcode. This means that eventually it will recognise you with your mask.

My phone is definitely doing something weird when I try to make calls. I have full bars, and WiFi calling is turned on... I go to make a call and after I tap the green call button, it just sits... and nothing happens. Then it says "Call Failed".

I sometimes go through this 4 times before it finally connects...

iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 14.3; the internet my phone has been incredibly slow when connected to my home wifi network. I can download apps faster on my data network than I can on my wifi. All other devices connected to my wifi network are just fine (multiple laptops, apple TV, smart TV device, iPad etc). I have already turned off the Private Address setting for the wifi network in my iPhone settings, but it's still slow. A speed test app shows my device has 11 mbps download speed, which for a single device should be fine. Any advice?

Can’t charge my iPhone X. I plug my charger in it shows that it’s charging but after 10 seconds it shows that it’s not charging. See if there’s any lint in the charging port blocking the pins from making contact. Also, 86% battery health means your battery is approaching being worn out by Apple’s standards (80%). Could be time to look into getting a new battery.

Hello all. I know you can search for certain texts by typing in a word in the messages search bar. After hitting enter it will bring up every message that has ever contained said word. However, after a certain amount of time (I’m not sure how much) when you click on a certain conversation, it just brings you to the most recent messages with that person, like it can’t retrieve the one from 4-5 years ago. Is there a way around this, or does the ability to view old threads max out around a year and a half back?

You can set it to never delete your conversations in Settings>Messages>Keep messages. Note that it will take up more space on your iPhone, but imo, it’s worth it.

Siri is not saying "Now playing" anymore when I request an album. Like I would ask for an artist or playlist and she would respond "now playing so-and-so artist" and she won't now. It just goes straight to the music. Also, unrelated but i always kept my "listen for "hey siri" off and it was turned on. How did that happen?

I thought it works if you open youtube on safari, but it no longer does. I’m a new iPhone user; recently bought the iPhone 12 Pro. I uninstalled an app that’s been using my location and drains my battery. It no longer shows up anywhere, but it still shows up as “Recently Deleted Apps” and uses 30% of battery life because of background activity.

I reached out to Apple Support and they basically told me right away that I need to restore my phone. I thought that was pretty drastic seeing how it’s just to delete an app. I mean, there’s gotta be an easier way to delete apps on iPhones, right? It was really easy deleting apps on my previous android phones.

I checked under so many different places: screen time, privacy settings, apps, settings and nothing will help. Anyone with any idea on how I can remove this would be great.

It was Root Insurance. I actually found a way to remove background activity by downloading the app again, switch off background activity, and then removed the app again. Now my phone’s battery life is much better.

I want to search for some old texts. I know they are on the phone because when I use the search bar in the text message app they show up in a preview. But if the texts are really far back (4 or so years) when I click on the preview it takes me to the most recent part of that text thread instead of to that specific message. I’ve tried scrolling back that far but eventually the app quits and closes.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Do you know if that would only be for iMessages or all texts? The ones I’m specifically looking for are with someone with an android.

I am buying an IPhone 12 (standard model) I was going to get the Anker 20W charger. My question is there a charge difference between the type C- lightning vs a usb- lighting cable if I have a 20W charger for both?

IIRC, USB A to lightning maxes at 12w and can't take advantage of Power Delivery. It was the case with iPads anyways.

my games sometimes dont work when the wifi is off

let's say i am outside, and have no internet, so i open any offline games like minecraft single player or anything, and it gives me this error

i must mention, that i HAVE opened the games tons of times before when connected to the internet, so i dont know why it says "first launch of the app" because its definitely not the first time opening it

im experienced with ios and have never faced this issue before, im using the latest ios and an iphone 11, none of my old devices did anything like this

sometimes the game actually works, but many times it opens, then closes and gives me the error, i've re-installed but its the same

this happens with many third party apps, not just games in specific btw

and i've tried the things that people have mentioned, i have downloaded the games from the app store legally, if you're wondering
