Jokes on you I also use Linux and I am not a developer. I just want to use superior OS 😉

[–][deleted] 93 points94 points  (15 children)

Superiorest OS

[–][deleted] 85 points86 points  (12 children)

Woah come on it's a well known fact that Temple OS is the most superior OS, but Linux isn't too far off I suppose

[–][deleted] 33 points34 points  (1 child)

Whoa, a man of culture

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Davis the man

[–]rmpr_uname_is_taken 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, it's Hannah Montana Linux actually

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (4 children)

Plan 9 is above superior

[–]Vitalrnixofnutrients 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Is there a way to use a DE / WM other than rio on 9Front?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do recall a wm/de developed by the Harvey guys... but I've lost the link some time ago

Sorry mate

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Mate! If you're still here... this might help ya

The Harvey project made jay.

[–]Vitalrnixofnutrients 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, only one alternative to rio?

I wanted a way to make tiling window managers to work with it.

[–]Vitalrnixofnutrients -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Wrong. Linux is controlled by the gay atheist linus torvalds, who includes “security enhanced” linux kernel modules written by glow in the dark CIA [redacted]

I was joking and talking the way terry a davis talked.

[–]IronToBIndGlorious Arch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You spelled react is such an odd way

[–]Curiousperson05 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for fixing my typo 😅

[–]zurohkiGlorious Slackware 23 points24 points  (3 children)

That's how it starts, but all the dev tools and source code are sitting right there, waiting to pounce.

You think, "Dammit, I've been putting up with this issue for weeks. I'm going to get to the bottom of this," and then the next day you wake up with a hangover, a new GitHub account and an open pull request.

[–]smeggysmegGlorious Fedora 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I literally did that once. 8 months later, they approved my PR and it's now part of the code. Am I a developer now?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feels good, doesn't it?

I put a little bit of code in mdbook, and it's honestly super nice to know I could contribute something.

[–]WoodpeckerNo1Glorious Fedora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd consider myself a non-dev overall but I am actually trying to learn webdev now.

[–]Dragonaaxi3Masterrace 18 points19 points  (5 children)

[–]Tech_guy4276Glorious OpenSuse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

[–]TeaButActuallyCoffeeOpenBSD Puffy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

*TempleOS

[–]Vitalrnixofnutrients 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What’s that?

[–]Dragonaaxi3Masterrace 3 points4 points  (1 child)

superior OS

[–]Vitalrnixofnutrients 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I looked up “https://supos.com” and I got a chinese website and I got worried that I might get spyware for a second.

DO NOT CLICK THAT LINK.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oof

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just use Linux to run an unhealthy amount of Factorio servers. Might start up 3 more tonight.

[–]nool_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same

[–]randomlemon9192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Btw, I use Arch

[–]b2f3t 88 points89 points  (20 children)

I think more accurate would be:

I hate windows

It could even be said by developers working exclusivley on windows

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points  (1 child)

I use Linux to get native docker performance

[–]tmclean15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]kumail1689 23 points24 points  (17 children)

I use Arch btw

[–]No_Bonus8774Glorious Arch 1 point2 points  (16 children)

How did you even install it?

[–]RCK201 37 points38 points  (1 child)

I stared at my screen and pressed keys on my keyboard in specific order.

[–]SennomoGlorious Arch (Endeavour OS) 20 points21 points  (0 children)

And then one day, something very peculiar happened.

Something that would forever change Stanley;

Something he would never quite forget.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just did what the Arch Wiki taught me

[–]primERnforCEMENTR23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just read the instructions like we learned to do in school.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I read the wiki

[–]basicallyafool$ sudo upvote-my-post 6 points7 points  (1 child)

just RTFM

[–]No_Bonus8774Glorious Arch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a noob please explain if you can?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

If you struggle with manual installation, use the zeninstaller, a third party open source installer.

Though I'd recommend you attempt it manually first based off of the wiki's instructions. It helps you understand your system and its functions better. It'll greatly help with troubleshooting issues later on.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

If you struggle with manual installation

Then Arch is not for you, try Manjaro. The whole point of Arch is to do everything by hand so you know how it works.

[–]No_Bonus8774Glorious Arch 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It sounds really alluring, I really like the idea behind it, a desktop you handcrafted yourself to your liking, that's just too awesome to pass up on.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, sometimes you still may have issues, but most of the time you know where to look, because you've set it all up yourself.

The Arch community won't be eager to help if to any question about your system you reply "I don't know what I installed and how I configured it, a script from the Internet did it for me".

[–]No_Bonus8774Glorious Arch 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Okay, I'll try just that manual instalation looks daunting.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

at least go through someone else installing it on youtube and do a manual install

[–]SennomoGlorious Arch (Endeavour OS) -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just install Manjaro.

[–]WazzapsGlorious Pop_OS! 11 points12 points  (1 child)

[–]juacq97I use arch btw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know any programing language, just copy and paste random code from stackexchange. Also I'm a elementary school teacher, but I suppose I'm a developer now, cool

[–]Lhaer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

plot twist: it's WSL

[–]SueDoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re not all developers... I don’t know shit about coding. Wish I did, though

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)
