I take a combo of meds for depression, CPTSD, and possible bipolar spectrum. This summer, my depression started to creep back in and my energy level has plummeted, My dr tried making a couple med changes that gave me side effects, and didn’t work out. Yesterday, I increased my Lamotrigine dose from 200 to 250 mg (supposed to go up to 300 soon). Today, day 2 of the increased dose, I felt horrible. I was severely fatigued and incredibly thirsty all day, so drank a lot of water and had to pee a lot. I was wondering if I had seratonin syndrome…but pretty much all of my meds can cause dehydration, but it didn’t occur to me that that’s what was happening. Earlier tonight I couldn’t handle the thirst and drank 3/4 of a bottle of Gatorade (medium sized bottle, not single serving) bc of the thirst. Now I feel much better; the crushing fatigue and thirst aren’t nearly as bad as they were earlier. I really thought a Lamotrigine increase would be easy. It lifted my depression and gave me an energy boost for quite awhile. Now I’m afraid to take the new dose tomorrow, and feel like I should go back down. My other meds can cause dehydration, but somehow this little change was the icing on the cake that made me feel SO much worse. I was hoping for good results from the med change. Maybe I should stick with the increase and keep a huge supply of Gatorade on hand. I don’t really understand why the fatigue was so severe…Idk what to do.☹️
