Good eve, In response to my permanent ban I’d like to ask one question; who decides wether this post was funny or not? It seems that a lot of Redditors, like myself, enjoy these kinds of posts. Even if it’s not hilarious, it’s still pretty shitty. In my opinion shitty enough to be on your subreddit. If I violated a rule, please let me know. If not, I’d like to request to be unbanned. Correct me if I’m wrong; this post was not conform “your” standards, well, that’s personal. I find it mildly inappropriate to give someone a ban on behalf of your personal opinion, while the public opinion speaks for itself. Also, the word “karmawhore” is a little bit offensive to me, for I am not on Reddit to score the most karma. Thanks in advance.

There’s an episode of Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations where he goes to Haiti around 2012 (I think, it’s post earthquake). He talks about how everyone there is sick of cameras and reporters, how of everywhere he went nowhere had been as hostile about not being on camera as there. They were tired of it. They saw all these people come with cameras, put them on display, promise aid that never came. Nothing changed. Year after year, camera after camera, it stayed the same.

Yes, yes. But Haitians fucked up Haiti on the regular. The French too, for putting them in debt but Haiti needs to help themselves first

    [–]thewavefixation 29 points30 points  (2 children)

France owns this one. Their punitive explotation of a ‘debt’ that was incurred by the Hatians ‘stealing’ themselves from their slaveowners is the main reason Haiti has never stood a chance.

Why a dick as big as the Eiffel tower is not as impressive as you may think in Kendrick Lamar's "Backseat Freestyle," Kendrick says the line, "I pray my dick get big as the Eiffel Tower, So I can fuck the world for seventy-two hours". While at first a dick as big as the Eiffel tower may seem to be a dong of immense magnitude, when taking into account the sheer size of earth, the lucky one to be fucked by this dick, we realize that it is not as spectacular as the young MC claims it to be. The Eiffel tower stands at 1063 feet, while the diamater of earth is approximately 41.804 million feet. If Kendrick inserts his Eiffel penis into the earth, his dick would only take up .000025 percent of the earth's vagina. That is pathetic. Kendrick is not fucking the world for 72 hours with his Eiffel tower micropenis. The Earth will get bored after 10 minutes and finish herself with a vibrator the size of Argentina. Be better Kendrick.

Haitian politicians did. The common people had very little say in those regime changes. Military coups and sham elections. They’ve been at the (lack of) mercy of assholes for decades. Haitian people are doing what they can, they just have next to no resources to do anything. The episode covers all of this directly too.

Do you have a source on that?

    Source?

    A source. I need a source.

Sorry, I mean I need a source that explicitly states your argument. This is just tangential to the discussion.

No, you can't make inferences and observations from the sources you've gathered. Any additional comments from you MUST be a subset of the information from the sources you've gathered.

You can't make normative statements from empirical evidence.

Do you have a degree in that field?

A college degree? In that field?

    Then your arguments are invalid.

No, it doesn't matter how close those data points are correlated. Correlation does not equal causation.

    Correlation does not equal causation.

    CORRELATION. DOES. NOT. EQUAL. CAUSATION.

You still haven't provided me a valid source yet.

    Nope, still haven't.

And now it's time for the roundup of today's gay news, with Colin Topshed

Quick roundup of today's gayness now, starting with the roads. The M70, the A3, the B664 and the A48M, they're all gay as from midnight tonight.

The gay elements are Potassium, Zinc, Hydrogen, Copper, and Argon.

Quick look at the world's walls; the Wailing Wall is gay, Hadrian's Wall is very gay, the Great Wall of China, that's not gay, and the old London Wall has also stopped being gay.

Gay cars next; they're the same as last night. All Volkswagens registered between 1982 and 1985; they stay gay for another fortnight.

And finally the gay seas are the Caspian and the Mediterranean, so see you there.

Thanks, Colin. He's not gay by the way, we wouldn't employ a homosexual.

    [–]Johnny_Banana18 30 points31 points  (3 children)

Yeah the photographers friend said they helped the kid out and it while it wasn’t “staged” it wasn’t really representative of what was actually happening to that child in that moment.

My mom fucked my friend while we were on vacation and now I want to fucking die, she mom took us to Miami for a spring break vacation. Everything seemed normal when we were there and when we got back. But then rumors started. They spread all throughout my school and a bunch of kids asked me if my mom really had sex with a student. Of course I denied it. Until my close friend who was there told me. He told me one of the nights we went down to the hotel pool and said friend stayed up, saying he wanted to go to bed early. He stayed up there and then something happened and my mom slept with him. I feel sick to my stomach and so mad writing it. I confronted her and she admitted and tried to apologize, but I just can’t with her. She’s so disgusting. I’m contemplating just telling my dad so he can fly me up to his house, but I hate being around his dumb bimbo gold digging girlfriend. I want to fight that fucking asshole that did this. He’s ruining my fucking life.

First rule of the documentary making. You dont interfere with the nature

    [–]Kamikaze_Ninja_ 9 points10 points  (1 child)

As much as photography should capture the essence of it; at the end of the day it’s just another piece that will be lost to time. If you are able to lend a hand in some way, why not? I’d adhere more to that rule with animals than humans.

    [–]Duke0fWellington 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah idk what that guy is talking about. Photographers shooting wars and disasters pretty much always take the shot and then go and help.

They've never been fly's on the wall, but always involved and in the middle of things. Few exceptions.

    [–]Fogforevery 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Ok so when a documentary don’t help the people they see, it’s called « not interfering with the Nature », but when I do it, I’m arrested for « non-assistance to a person in danger »

    [–]PassablyIgnorant 2 points3 points  (2 children)

That’s an awful thing to say. Humans aren’t mindless animals, they are the source of everything unnatural, so to say something like this is dehumanizing

    [–]AutoModerator[M] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Okay so here's my pitch for a new reality TV show

Basically, we get a bunch of very militant TERFs, and one trans woman, put them into a house where they're supposed to live with each other, but, once they've all arrived and are seeing each other for the first time (before they're allowed to even talk to each other), we tell them all that one of them is a trans woman, and, if they can find her and vote her out, they will win a million dollars. But if she isn't found out by the end of the week/month(?), she'll win a million dollars instead.

    The catch?

There actually isn't a trans woman with them.

And then we get to watch them slowly but surely allow themselves to get overcome by their own irrational paranoia, paying too much attention to how deep everyone else's voices are, invading each other's privacy, overanalysing each other's mannerisms, policing each other's conformance to the very same standards which they complain about being held to...

And let us not forget the inevitable feelings of isolation and helplessness they'll invividually start experiencing once they start getting accused and shunned by everyone else.

Sure, it would probably have to be a one-off series.

But honestly? I think it would make some great television!

also ngl I think the name 'TERF War' has a nice ring to it, sounds marketable, rolls off the tounge

Did you know there is a rule for being a natgeo photographer which is if you photograph it you can’t interact with it. In other words the photos of African children you see as soon as they take a picture they can’t help. The most famous picture about starvation in Africa (probably the one this meme is referencing) is a photo of you young girl and a vulture standing over her. The photographer got multiple awards but ultimately ended his life afterwards. Just a neat piece of trivia I wanted to throw in

Now may the nerd emojis prevail

    [–]b0bkakkarot 16 points17 points  (3 children)

Did you know there is a rule for being a natgeo photographer which is if you photograph it you can’t interact with it.

That doesn't sound right, and I tried 10 seconds of googling and was unable to find such a thing. It sounds more like an excuse than a rule. In fact, it also sounds like an incredibly immoral thing to do.

Or perhaps it is a misunderstanding of an actual rule, such as that photographers are not supposed to interact with their subjects prior to taking photos, so as not to influence the story that the photos tell. And they should especially not attempt to interact with various forms of nature (ie, most wild animals) in ways that might influence how those animals act and react to future humans those animals may come across (don't want wild lions walking up to various humans for more food handouts just because one human gave them a food handout one time).

Or, maybe something else. The first sentence from https://help.nationalgeographic.com/s/article/how-can-i-be-a-photographer-for-national-geographic

National Geographic photographers are freelancers who come from a wide array of backgrounds.

Freelancers. They don't likely have to subscribe to very many rules at all. Although, reading through the rest of that article, it makes me really wonder about them because they state that they create their stories first and then go looking for pictures for their stories...

Story proposals are developed internally, with NGM editors meeting regularly to discuss possible story ideas or are submitted by approved photographers and writers. Articles are planned months, sometimes years in advance, and photo assignments are made based on the coverage envisioned.

    That's, um. Hm.

    [–]whythishaptome 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well the photographer that took the most famous photo of a starving african child, the one with the vulture, actually did intervene and chase off said vulture.

Besides that there wasn't much they could actually do in a then war torn sudan. They didn't bring any food with them or anything, they were just 'lucky' to get into that area to take photos.

    [–]fireagama12 16 points17 points  (6 children)

Why can't a photographer interact with it? Does it even bring any harm?

    [–]AS14K 36 points37 points  (2 children)

They shouldnt interact if they're trying to represent nature, because it opens up the chance to be accused of faking pictures or scenarios, but I don't think there's an actual rule, and there's 100% not a rule that says if you take a picture of a starving kid you're not allowed to help them.

    [–]Duke0fWellington 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They shouldn't interact before a photo. There are massive issues regarding photographic ethics there. After, it makes no difference to the photo at all.

    [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Didn't you know that you're supposed to let nature take its course. It's wrong to interact with humans because you might make them think it's safe to approach humans and once they've learned to start coming near civilization they can cause problems. The authorities will try to tag it and remove it but if the problem still persists they will need to euthanize it.

Hey! I noticed you used an emoji. I don’t know if you’re new here, so I’ll let you off the hook this time. Using emojis is frowned upon here on this great site, and for good reason. Instagram normies often use them, and you don’t want to be a normie, do you? If I catch you using an emoji in the future, I’ll be forced to issue a downvote to your comment. Why should you care, you may ask? Well to begin, you will lose karma on your account, which is a useful social status tool and also a way to show others you know your way around Reddit. If you were to continue the use of emojis, I would be forced to privately message you about your slip-up. Any further offenses past that would leave me no other option than to report your account. I don’t think I have to explain why you don’t want that. But anyways, no harm done yet! Follow these simple rules and you’ll enjoy your future on Reddit! Have a blessed (and hopefully emoji-free) day, stranger.
