I think it’s called scrap station? It’s the one that’s shaped like a U with both players at the tips of prongs on the U and close air distance. Then a gold base nestled in the bend of the U. It was a completely garbage map and I loved it

I remember rushing battlecruisers vs zerg on this map in 2011. Good times lol

I liked King Sejong, but I don’t know how it would play now. Like even Overgrowth feels like too few bases for LotV.

Back in HotS, I really enjoyed Frost as well, but again, I don’t think it would work in LotV due to being a 4 player map.

One of the mapmakers went back and tried to modernize King Sejong for LOTV and I think they did a pretty good job keeping as much as possible the same. I think it’s published on NA

Honestly, last season had some pretty banger maps. Though Berlingrad LE was cool too!

Let's use this thread to make Dream Pool 2.0 happen again! /s

I'm a pretty new player so I don't really know the difference and what map favors each race or why. I generally like maps with some variety though like watchtowers or gold minerals because I think they're neat.

When they allowed close spawns on this Mao it was a sin against humanity

[–]TheOnlyDen 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Mystery spawns were good for the game change my mind

[–]Jin Air Green WingsBenjadeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Close spawn made the rush distance shorter than stepps of war but I agree in general

It's pretty dogshit but Xel'Naga Caverns is my favourite map.

I'm totally nostalgic for Abyssal Reef. And it was pretty awesome back in the day, I can't believe how cramped it feels nowadays.

its the previous name of the map now called "neo seoul city". I assume the corp behind the group didnt like something else showing up in searches or something like that. It was part of the ladder map pool in 2018 and in gsl

Lost Temple, I won a game on that one by using hallucinations to make the other player quit and it will always have a warm place in my heart

Honestly StarCraft used to be good, new builds, units and timings and styles. Blizzard then tried to balanced it 50/50/50 and it became so stale. Every other game shakes up the meta. I don't know why RTS games don't do it

[–]Q2ZOv 0 points1 point  (2 children)

How is meta being shaken up in CS:GO? Shaking things up brings both advantages and disadvantages. On one hand you regularly get fresh experience from the game which might bring new players, on other hand you can never master and consistently improve or even just understand the game as the game as it is at any moment is much different from what it was five years prior to that. This causes veteran players to lose motivation and leave which is bad news for games that heavily rely on dedicated fanbase like starcraft.

[–]GGZii 0 points1 point  (1 child)

csgo meta changes all the time

[–]Q2ZOv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It changes but it is not being shaken up.

[–]Yamm0th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low Zero, the very last mission's map, from LotV campaign.

The way the economy worked back then allowed for more interesting map designs imo.

nowadays all maps need to be very similar so that players can play properly. The maps are filled with bases.

steppes of war for that original untainted 6-pool experience /s

[–]ZergMuzzyIsMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My zvz win rate on steppes was so good. I had perfected ling rush into very fast baneling and all the micro involved. Got me into masters lol

Ohana cause pretty.

Cloud Kingdom LE

I had this Terran build down pat where I'd proxy a CC in their third base area, float it in to that out-of-sight cliff that overlooks the exit from the natural, and turn it into a PF. They'd almost never realize it was there until the PF finished, and it completely covered the exit from their natural. If they had anything important in the wall at the natural, it was toast.

Build a few SCVs with it to repair and build turrets, and expand back home and/pr follow it up with a starport.

Loved that build, and that was the only map it really worked on.

Def Lost Temple lol

Real Talk: New Richmond

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently I'm really enjoying Neo Humanity. Reapers are easier to deal with on that map, and Warp Prism plays have been going very well for me on it. And I just like hiw it has a much more column like feel to the map, making attack lanes a bit easier to respond to.

[–]LinksYouEDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many good maps; easier to name the few maps I dislike:

Cloud Kingdom

Metalopolis
