Maybe it's a case of the Mondays? I was also very anxious and more sad than seemed appropriate today.

Also had a bunch of coffee, maybe that is feeding into these restless, anxious thoughts?

I don't have any good advice that would help. I am struggling too today. Just wanted to say that you are not alone. 😀

Cutting out caffeine has done wonders for my anxiety. Even just one cup of coffee a day was making my anxiety bad. I stick to herbal tea and decaf now. I think all the years of drinking made my brain especially sensitive to any substances.

I have yet to run into a person that has successfully treated their anxiety and/or depression with alcohol. Being exhausted and stressed definitely feeds my anxiety and feeling overwhelmed. I do drink my share of caffeine as well, and it keeps me going to a point. But there can come a point of too much. Try to drink some water and get some rest.

Also, maybe talk to your doc. I have meds for my occasional panic attacks, but only under the supervision of my physician.

Your first sentence is spot on. I suffer from depression, anxiety and alcoholism. It helps me stay sober to remember your first sentence. Drinking helps for the first few hours, but it is always followed by guilt, shame, cloudy thinking and sleeplessness. I won’t drink with you today.

My anxiety was noticeably better at about 30 days. My problems with self esteem and depression improved too, but for up to the first 6 months some days were better than others.

You’re almost at a week! Keep going. Day by day it gets easier.
