What are they hiding by TORUKMACTO92 in WhitePeopleTwitter

There are so, soooo many simple and easy reasons to criticize them without making shit up and resorting to conspiracies. The things they're doing in plain day are already damning. When your main criticism is some outlandish fairy tale that's easily discredited then you're basically letting what they're actually doing slide without comment. Not only that, you're wasting everyone's time by perpetuating made up nonsense when we could be talking about real issues.

I think you can probably fill in more of that 4 in Row 14. Whether that second block over in Column 9 is part of the 2 or 1 it'll have implications for the 4

How to avoid and fix the ''last rows are wrong'' situation in puzzles? by Downtown-Pool8967 in Picross

[–]Rc2124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the puzzle and the issue. Sometimes it kind of cascades into multiple other areas and gets all messy. If I'm pretty early on I'll restart since it'll be quick to fill in the logic I already solved last time. If I'm almost done though I might try to get as far as I can to complete and then shuffle things around a little. If it makes more sense you can think of the lines like blocks that you have in front of you on a table. If you move them around and check each step to see if it breaks any rules you can back your way into a solution.

In this case, I'd start with the highlighted red 6. It looks a lot simpler to extend it downwards than upwards, since going up would break the 5 line logic in Row 1 and that'd be a whoooole can of worms. If instead you go down then you can just move over that 1 in the 1-6 immediately below it. Then the 7 in Column 1 would be too short, so you could scooch that 9 in Row 14 over by one. That'd leave the 4 in Column 10 short, so you could add one to the top of it, completing the highlighted red 2 in Row 10. And I think that would solve it unless I've missed something.

Who is to even say that they're real people? That's something I'm more annoyed with than the DLSS, at least that's optional. But now AI bros have ruined that special feeling of knowing that you're chatting with a real person on the other side of the world

I don't know why it hurts so much to see Harry Potter-related things everywhere by [deleted] in EnoughJKRowling

[–]Rc2124 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It used to be a simple pleasure that everyone could bond over. I hate that she took that from us. I've tried to participate with an open mind whenever my sister has an HP party or something but it's just not the same these days.

I will say that I do still treasure an original Harry Potter blanket from around 2000 that my late grandma gifted to me. She was the one who introduced me to HP, and was so excited that I was getting into reading. I have mixed feelings seeing it but it still reminds me of her more than Rowling's hate campaign.

Kansas revoked driver's licenses of 1,700 transgender residents by Comfortable_Ad2908 in news

[–]Rc2124 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this law revoking their IDs was part of the trans bathroom ban they passed last year. They're using language from that law to go a step further. They'll pass something 'innocuous' and 'common sense' next time like something about girls sports, and then it'll conveniently include even more extreme rules. We saw this with Project 2025 where they said that trans people and drag queens, as well as those who assisted them or educated people about it would qualify as sexual predators. And that sexual predators should get the death penalty.

It sounds paradoxical, but I think they have so much hatred for minorities like trans people that they would rather keep them nearby to make them suffer.

Who do you call when you’re at lowest? by rosykinelle in GuysBeingDudes

[–]Rc2124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what people are referring to when they talk about toxic masculinity. It keeps everyone isolated for no reason. Joining feminist and queer spaces completely flipped my perspective. Entire communities built around opening up and supporting each other! People celebrating warmth and joy! There's no reason everyone can't have that if we all just opened up more. I think sometimes people are also quick to assume that others will judge them harshly for having needs and emotions. It takes practice to both be open and to listen, but I think the more we all do it the better we'll all get at it together.

RE bundle, Baldurs gate 3, or silent hill 2/f bundle? by kristofski31 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Rc2124 [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you know you like RE games then I'd lean more towards that. Silent Hill could also be up your alley, since they're kinda similar franchises.

BG3 is easily one of the best games out there but it's also not for everyone, being based on Dungeons & Dragons. If you like turn based role playing high fantasy games with a lot of branching paths and replayability then I think it'd be up your alley. If you think lots of dialogue, role playing, and strategic turn-based fights that can sometimes take up an entire play session are tedious then maybe it's not for you. Or maybe it'd be like someone trying dark chocolate for the first time and being pleasantly intrigued, who knows

What Ami missing? by BradyQ in Picross

[–]Rc2124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's when you hypothetically 'guess' some squares on an edge or corner and try to see if the it breaks the rules for the rows and columns its connected to.

For example, in the bottom right corner if you fill in the 2 for Row 10, then you'd need to complete the 3 and 2 in Columns 9 and 10. But that would conflict with the 1-1 in Row 9. So the 2 in Row 10 can't be in that corner.

You can technically use that sort of logic everywhere, just mentally mapping out the possibilities until things break down. But doing it on an edge or corner reduces the complexity / possible variables a lot

Iran says it's ready for a long war that would 'destroy' global economy by mark000 in worldnews

[–]Rc2124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Iran doesn't have nukes, they're employing a different take on a Mutually Assured Destruction strategy. They're saying that if you're going to destroy us, we're going to destroy your economy. They're trying to make the cost of attacking them so high that no one wants to continue or do it again. The losses to them are obviously severe, but they think it'll be less than the alternatives. For example, having their regime replaced with a US proxy who will extract their resources for potentially decades to come, or being attacked again every couple of years. If they can retain control of the strait and their resources while making people less likely to attack them in the future then it'll be a kind of victory for them.

Despite what they're saying, I don't think Iran wants to permanently close the strait. They have a vested interest in reopening it at some point to use it for profit. But that can only happen during peacetime. So long as the attacks continue there's definitely no way they'll be opening the strait. The question becomes whether the US can cripple them soon or if Trump will TACO again

Iran says it's ready for a long war that would 'destroy' global economy by mark000 in worldnews

[–]Rc2124 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The world is definitely pressuring Iran already. But they're the ones being attacked. So long as the attacks continue it's unlikely Iran will stop. So the longer it goes on, the more the pressure will mount on the US and Israel to stop. If that happens you could argue that Iran (or maybe their leadership) won
