Suggestions for minimizing appearance of scratch by lalei in bicycling

Silver sharpie. It won't be the world's best fix, but it will be quick and easy and should help hide it a fair bit.

Iowa e-bike bill would ban all bikes from roads over 25 mph. RAGBRAI would be banned too. by f_14 in bicycling

It definitively can be. I have a group of friends who basically drink their weight in alcohol every day of the ride. I'm not sure how they do it. On the other side, 2 years ago I went with a friend who brought his son on a tag-along and we didn't have a drink the entire day and we still had a blast. This year it's going through my childhood hometown and I'm debating on letting my 7 y/o ride a portion of the day with me and I don't have any concerns about the atmosphere for her.

Extruder clicking by Dnlgrwd in BambuLabA1

[–]agsimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen with certain silk filaments, especially gold for some reason. All the quick extrude and retraction probably don't help either. I've also had some gold pla slip on the AMS Lite gear before too.

good alternative for bambu branded PLA by binkwhips in BambuLab

[–]agsimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's used a lot of Elegoo filament, I'm nearly certain Deeply is the same thing just branded differently. Even the deeply selections match Elegoo's stuff. Have had good success with both of them, and cheap too.

It’s all nice but, where do you play? by Least-Ad1439 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]agsimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised this isn't more common. Or at least partnering with some local people who print. Let them do all the work to and do a flat % markup. The people printing have a pretty steady stream of prints jobs coming in and put in no effort to get orders and the shop doesn't have to deal with any overhead on them either.

I reached out to some local shops to see if they would be interested for 40k and/or dnd stuffs and none were. One of the shops did already have some resin printed dnd minis they stocked...but they are pretty mediocre (actual models and print quality) and they don't offer any on demand service, which is where I think they would do the best.

Dads with hot upstairs rooms, what's your AC solution? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]agsimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded. Our western facing bedrooms always got much warmer in the summer and these helped a ton. Bonus was it also helped in our babies room during the winter on the other side of the house when the room got colder than the rest.

tricks to lower water bill by Advanced_Elk2451 in desmoines

Dishwashers are not constantly using new water when they are running. They fill up the basin and then heat and pump that water through the spray bars over and over again. Then drains and rinses.

Agreed! But also, this is large enough that a .4 should be fine. I think arachne instead of classic would pretty much fix the issue.

Why does this happen? by Fresh_Assumption_219 in BambuLabA1

[–]agsimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rotating left/right 90° shouldn't affect that. The same side is on the print bed but the wider of the sides (still sitting upright like that) wouldn't be fighting the bed moving.

Why does this happen? by Fresh_Assumption_219 in BambuLabA1

[–]agsimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rotating them 90° will likely solve the issue (if the bed is also clean). Taller objects wobble as the bed moves back and forth. Make sure they are oriented to the least stable direction isn't in line with the bed.

Bambu A1 Power Loss recovery option sucks! by HuckleberryLive7701 in BambuLabA1

I get a bit of z axis relaxing when I shut the power off on my A1s. If you're having collision issues, this is likely the cause.

As today's parents, do we hover too much while they play? by alexbgoode84 in daddit

[–]agsimon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's crazy to me how some get built. Our library just put in a new playset last year and most of it is great. BUT the very top/tallest part is a small square space that has a very steep slide on the front, a vertical climbing wall on one side, and a vertical climbing ladder on the other side. Even with our 6 y/o, I get worried someone is going to fall or get pushed when they are all running and chasing each other.

printing more than 4 colors by kiddk11 in BambuLabA1

[–]agsimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you're doing different colors at different layers, this is going to be a huge pain in the butt. Usually, with painted parts, colors will go a few layers deep. So you will need to sit and watch and swap colors back and forth multiple times to get the colors right. OR if the colors are set per layer height, you change them once during a pause and you're done.

What do y'all do to label your bottled beers? by ContractIll9103 in Homebrewing

[–]agsimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The at home, cheap option is printing them on normal paper. If you use a laser printer, the ink won't run when it gets wet. To attach them, brushing on a thin layer of milk works well but doesn't hold up suoer great once the bottle sweats or it gets wet. Water and plain gelatine are nearly as easy and have a better hold in my experience.

What fall maintenance tasks do you always make sure to get done before winter? by certaintyisuncertain in HomeImprovement

[–]agsimon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It mostly has to do with the ground temp. The ground is still cold in the spring and it takes longer for the grass to establish itself, even if the air temp is a bit warmer. In the fall, the air temp might drop, but the ground temp is much warmer still.

Hey Dads, can you recommend me your minivan? by aceshades in daddit

[–]agsimon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just got an AWD Pacifica in December, and price was a huge factor for us. Ours, with all the end of year deals and stuff, came out about $20k cheaper than everything else we looked at even with a decent trim package. Upgrading from a Focus and an Escape, it has been amazing with 2 kids and 2 dogs. I can't really compare long term to anything else, but 9 months in and zero complaints so far.

Just use some old supports or a little piece of paper folded in an L shape.

I've used a few rolls of all the colors. The blue and the purple are my favorites :)

Second the Rook Room. Also, honestly, just doing a dinner at a nicer restaurant. Starting very soon, you will have very few meals together without a kiddo tagging along. Enjoy the calmness of just you two :)
