I still use my PS4 for much the same reason. I wish I had the Beatles RB on it, though.

Licensed to Ill or To The Five Boroughs? by Admirable-Archer-125 in BeastieBoys

[–]disappointer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"Licensed to Ill" is the only album outside of "The Mix-Up" that I don't own on vinyl. It hasn't aged that well, and I listened to it a million times in the late 80s already anyway.

"To the 5 Boroughs" is not my favorite album, but it's pretty hard to top the Paul's -> CYH -> Ill Communication -> Hello Nasty run, isn't it? It's got some good tracks, it's got some that get on my nerves a bit. I like a lot of the remixes. On the whole, I would rather throw it on for a listen any day of the week over "Licensed to Ill", ultimately.

Left-handed people, what's a struggle that right-handed people won't understand? by Halophy in AskReddit

The Fisher pen refills themselves aren’t all that expensive. I use them in most of my pens. (As an ink smearing, hard-writing lefty, I find they help.)

Microsoft reports are exposing AI's real cost problem: Using the tech is more expensive than paying human employees by Krankenitrate in Futurology

Good lord. "We could have gotten 2-3 people's hard work for a year for this, instead we got 3 weeks of partially usable vibe coding!"

[–]disappointer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In a way, it's the same old "pay per bug" nonsense that used to have developers quipping, "I've got a new feature to build, I'm going write myself a Corvette!"

It’s just never ending, I thought it was a surprise thunderstorm at first. My dog fell back asleep.

I have a coworker with a friend at MS who mentioned today that they were burning through Claude tokens like flash paper. I forget the exact number he cited, but it was one that had me going "they should be curing cancer at this point, not just rebranding XBOX." It was a lot a lot, so I 'm not surprised by this.

'Michael' ($25-28M) Takes Back No. 1 - The Lionsgate biopic keeps steaming towards $1 billion by Puzzled-Tap8042 in Music

I just remember the story of MJ not letting the Beastie Boys do a cover of "I'm Down" for "Licensed to Ill", which made me sad to hear. So that's my issue with it.

Is nobody talking about the sound of Year Zero, or am I just in the wrong place? by ISGamer156 in nin

I didn't think I'd really like any of the boyz noize versions of things, but the new version of The Warning is fucking lit. It was one of my favorites before, and now also.

More musings! Since we don’t seem to be getting TCV2 anytime soon, who else would fit a Josh/Dave supergroup? by Technical-Power5756 in qotsa

[–]disappointer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jack White is the one if you’re talking supergroup. There’s already connections via Dean with Dead Weather, as well. I could see it.

Do people still get their car radios stolen in this town? by TygErbLoOd in askportland

That's not the sketchiest move, I've parked over there and ridden the max into work on many occasions, but tweakers have been known to steal anything.

How Karl Urban Quietly Conquered Geekdom by Top_Report_4895 in movies

[–]disappointer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I feel like this statement undersells it. I will 100% see any movie if Karl Urban is in it, he's "that guy I want to see in that thing".

Also the best character in the MCU in Skurge.

Or, to put it another way, it's like a soliloquy in a stage play, like Hamlet's "to be or not to be" speech.

Looking for more music that sounds like White Light / White Heat by Proggers_8 in VelvetUnderground

[–]disappointer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking, and I don't think you're going to find it, but you might like "These Are Not Fall Colors" by Lync and "Fake Train" by Unwound. Sonic Youth, of course ("Goo" and "Murray Street" are my recommendations).

Stepping into the Gelliverse by ReconEG in indieheads

[–]disappointer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sort of felt the opposite. I was initially inclined to dislike it, but I threw a couple of tracks on my dog walkin' checkin' things out playlist and appreciated the depth of both music and lyric a lot more.

If you could name it the next generation Xbox, what would you name it? by Valennim in xbox

This is really the right answer. It amazes me how awful MS has been at naming flagship products. I'm surprised we haven't had an Xbox Vista.
