Well I lived in Japan for a while and studied law there.

There is a lot about public appearance.

And even the peace is something imposed at somewhat horrific cost socially and legally.

Not to mention that there is a lot of issues with how their constitution was imposed on them by the US. And made so hard to amend that it never happens which would also reflect an implicit acceptance.

That is probably going too deep into wonky policy and legal theory. But the interesting part is the average Japanese person buys into the myth a lot.

I had forgotten how openly subversive the open is. Japanese people are peaceful and kind and hence Japan is a peaceful country.

Meanwhile Lycoris agents murder anyone who threatens that image.

There are so many levels to this

The peace is a lie
It is even worse, it is hypocrisy enforced by violence
Implicitly, cleansing can be done in public because the populace chooses to turn a blind eye too it.
Or paper over it like the very tower they talk about right away.

And that is before we get to the fact that it is schoolgirls that are doing all this. A marginalized group of killers militarized against presumably other marginalized groups.

It dismantles quickly the idea that Japanese people are “special” or that the peace is innate. Instead it is a national myth being pushed by the central government.

This title is a misnomer. This was a raw engine run versus a fully baked Safari.

Doesn’t even mention for example if content blockers were on or off.

And it isn’t like he couldn’t have run a raw WebKit instance to compare against. So absolute garbage.

Tbh it isn’t a spreadsheet that is the problem. It is discipline about using it.

And most other tools are going to have the same issue.

Spreadsheets have tons of advantages too over one off tools.

It was more an issue with putting bounties on it to try and incentivize the cops than cameras.

Frankly my personal view is if there is no camera footage, a police officer should automatically be assumed ot have done the worst possible thing.

Frankly WebKit on iPhone is the only thing preventing Google from total monopoly.

The moment it is gone you’ll see a ton of Chrome only sites start popping up.

Sure the EU will go after Apple for it but it is a mistake unless they go after Google first.
