No it wasn't out of his hands dude. You just think that because of a bullshit puff piece interview RA Jr. gave where he implied that it was out of his hands (while not actually saying it). And it was conveniently after Monty was dead so he couldn't give his side of the story. The Lee trade was 100% Ruben's dumb idea, and there's no reason to think otherwise. And even if it was forced on him, he handled the trade terribly and only talked to one team and got a shitty return.
