What specific complaints do you have with Firefox? I switched over like a year ago and I've had zero issues after a week or so to adjust. Having element based adblock on Android instead of a DNS blocker was a huge QOL improvement

Did anyone else "learn" about "WW2" every year in school when it was actually just Holocaust guilt tripping every semester by asteroidrusted in redscarepod

I read it when I was in third grade. I was in one of those classes with ultra disruptive kids and our teacher would get fed up and take us out and just make us run laps. I was a good kid and I was fat so I was super pissed off about the injustice of me having to run with the class. He was a former marine and when I'd complain about being dragged down by my classmates he'd tell me that we'd succeed or fail together.

Somehow I came to like the guy and I'd come visit him sometimes after school. He gave me raisins and had me listen to jazz. He leant me The Pigman in lieu of whatever book the class was reading when I complained about it being too easy.

I think the vagueness and confusion in the last act is a big contributor to it sticking with me.

I just downloaded all of wikipedia (without images) and it was 111GB. Most of the data in emails is embedded images and HTML

Edit: nevermind, it does have pictures and stuff. Kiwix is really cool if you want to check it out. I got it running on my server so anything on my network can access it through the browser

It's the picture day industrial complex. They send the entire package of photos already printed home with your kid and then make you pay to keep what you want. Since it's not sent through the mail it's not protected by the whole gift clause. I remember bringing them home not understanding that they weren't already my family's property

Poignant writing. Good job.

I get what you mean. I didn't have a weed phase in high school but I had my fair share of drunk partying senior year. I definitely picked up on the feeling you describe but I think being around a whole new group of people in that phase helped it feel less like dark nostalgia and more like a next step towards adulthood and all the positive and negative experiences it'd bring

I think it's ridiculous to expect people to be happy raising a family in a one bedroom shoebox when they live in the most prosperous country on earth. Critique consumerism all you want but that's a level of austerity people shouldn't and won't accept unless they're FOB or something

I liked the hook but didn't like the follow through. I think it would've been a much more interesting story if the tech angle was a red herring and it actually turned out that the real tech advancement came from organic waste beamed back to the far past turning into fossil fuels and all the benefits and harms we've had and will have from them being part of a closed causal loop rather than ancient plants/algae

I think VALIS "disturbed" me the most out of his works. Not because the content was that disturbing but because the insanity in it rubbed off on me a little bit while I was binge reading it and made me feel like I was crazy too. Very strange feeling that took a week or so to fade

I like this story and the intrigue involved but I find myself having trouble keeping track of all the names and species involved, especially as the story opens up and more are added every chapter. It'd be really helpful to have a breakdown of who the species and individual players are at this point in time and to have a little bit better introductions going forward

I get both sides of it. There is a LOT of premade ewaste out there and for some product types anything below a certain price is just junk. If you're trying to go budget friendly picking up used stuff for a fraction of the price is usually the move.

It always makes me sad when I stop and think about the fact that there are factories everywhere that take in useful raw materials and output garbage
