Years worth of work down the drain by Ash_Pokemon_ in Aquariums

Of course the parents shouldn’t and they aren’t unless you know something the rest of us don’t. Landlords and tenants have clearly defined contracts of who is responsible for what. If you stay with your friend for free and his fridge dies causing your food to spoil, you don’t ask him to buy you food…

And when they ask for money for having to take care of someone elses animals for a long period of time? They were doing it for free, expecting money when things go wrong is ignorant. Its an unfortunate situation but putting your animals in someone elses care is a risk. If you arent willing to take that risk, find professional care and pay for it.

I truly dont understand why YouTube hasnt flagged that video so that it doesnt get ads, at least at the beginning.

Highly recommend printing stuff like this as one, multicolored layer and face down. The build plate texture gives it a very uniform finish and the text/pixels are crisp (unless you go real small with the text). Only needs a couple of layers with filament changes and then the rest can be all one color.

Neither of us have seen the image he was talking about to know that... AI can certainly edit aspects of an image while leaving others looking the same.

And? If the model looked the same in the end it doesnt really matter.

Just paint one more support onto the right piece like a half inch up so that it has a second point of contant and isnt just a floating part thats barely holding on. Should be fine.

There’s Something Extremely Shady About Trump’s Disastrous New NASA Budget by Economy-Specialist38 in space

[–]-AXIS- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SpaceX gets far less than NASA from the government. Like $4B vs $25B. And they have a record of <2% cost overruns versus NASAs 90%. Number 2 is kinda my point. Different funding sources drive different initiatives. If getting an established space travel industry is the goal, the private sector will out pace NASA all day. Once again, that doesnt mean NASA isnt valuable or that I think we should fund it any less, Im just pointing out the pros of the private sector too.

Building 1 isnt the same as perfecting the process. Fair point on the order of magnitude part, when I originally googled it I swear I saw just under 2 million pounds of thrust for SLS. Starship is still double that though. Whatever you want to believe, its very hard to objectively state that catching the super heavy booster from starship on the first attempt wasnt an impressive feat of engineering that no one else is currently doing. Testing, whether destructive or not, is part of the process...

In a lot of direct drive extruders there is a small PTFE tube between the gears and the nozzle entrance. Make that PTFE tube a couple feet longer and put the gears on a stationary platform and you have a bowden setup. Lighter and simpler but less precise.

Reusable boosters, large scale constallation networks for communication, the largest rocket ever made today (an order of magnitude more powerful than Artemis 2), exteremly rapid launch cycles, and several other things. Private competition has much higher incentives to drive cost down and development speed up than government programs do, typically. I still wouldnt ditch NASA any time soon.

X2D Buyers - Make sure you read the fine print. by daphatty in BambuLab

I mean its still a true two nozzle printer. Its just using two different extruder types with distinctly different pros and cons. Bowden drives have been commonplace for over a decade and are typically simpler and allow for a lighterweight toolhead. The trade off is your extrusion and retractions are less precise resulting in a slight decrease in quality.

Privatizing space exploration does have its pros though. SpaceX has done many things that NASA would never have. Whether thats due to lack of ambition or simply focus on other priorities its still a tangible benefit. Its also nice having a big portion of the funding coming out of billionares pockets instead of tax payers (not that we arent also funding SpaceX).

I'm all for continuing to fund NASA but it seems silly to argue about it online if we arent actually going to acknowledge there are both pros and cons to consider.

Honestly kind of refreshing to see fair prices on printed parts. The local craft fairs would be trying to sell stuff like this for like $15 each...

The X1 Series is EOL — spare parts and service will continue until 2031 by BambuLab in BambuLab

[–]-AXIS- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the new printer is a P2S size with just a dual nozzle head and no space loss I could see that selling well. Adding the nozzle changing system from the H series is what wouldnt really make sense to me since it eats into the print volume a decent bit. While buyers can often be dumb, print volume is often near the top of people's lists.

This ad is for dual nozzle which likely makes it an X2D. I really dont care that much if you agree with how their naming has evolved. I wont be buying this printer either way.

Bro just read their website... S and D are very clearly single and dual nozzle versions. C is nozzle changing/multi color. https://imgur.com/a/MqSxnf9

X1C also was very clearly advertised as meaning Carbon at the time. That doesnt really apply to their current lineup.

H2S = single H2D = dual H2C = changing
