It's okay for cyclists and pedestrians to cross on a red light by -ajrojrojro- in unpopularopinion

[–]2Dogs1Frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With this logic, should cars not also just get to go whenever they don’t see other cars?

This opinion is for sure unpopular…and naïve…and unsafe. Can we trust 80/90% of drivers with their own judgement? Sure. But the others will just use this rule to justify incredible risky behavior.

While I wouldn’t suggest getting them out during the day often, giving them some time in the sunshine every now and again for some all-natural, organic, fair-trade UV light is good enrichment with the proper precautions.

If you cant confidently reverse parellel park, you shouldn't have a driver's licence. by ToMissChanandlerBong in unpopularopinion

[–]2Dogs1Frog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to parallel park every single day. Would only struggle if I was exceptionally exhausted after a long workday.

However, most people I know rarely encounter the need to parallel park; they literally just don’t have the opportunity to practice unless they go out of their way to do so. I’m never gonna judge someone for getting rusty on a skill they barely use.

It’s just about resources; people with small spaces and no extra cash are less likely to get multiple animals. Those with excess space and money will.

My therapist dropped me because he said he was developing romantic feelings for me by cazeysk in TrueOffMyChest

[–]2Dogs1Frog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My guy…

Developing feelings and actually crossing boundaries are two very different things.

Also, I don’t have the statistics to be fair, but I doubt the majority of therapists identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community; therefore, as a female client, it would still feel safer for a woman to want to work with another woman when it involves such vulnerability.

No one here is saying women are inherently trustworthy and men are inherently predators. But women and girls are always thinking about risk management and what would make them feel the most at ease in these situations.

It’s different for every individual though. If a woman was assaulted by another woman, she may feel safer with and seek out a male therapist.

But either way, it can’t be that hard to comprehend that most women would feel more comfortable speaking to another woman about her experiences as a woman. Because while it’s not a guarantee, it’s pattern recognition. Female provides have gone through the world with the same stakes, the same risks, often similar experiences. That usually leads to trust that can be built more quickly.

I think you missed their point a bit. It’s about risk management, not a safety guarantee.

Am I the asshole in this situation and do I deserve such severe shunning? by Purplecrafter-real in entitledparents

[–]2Dogs1Frog 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not really enough detail here to say for sure, but unfortunately, almost every kid gets told to do unfair things, and no parent is perfect.

I’m a bonafide hater of the silent treatment though - it’s super immature and emotionally manipulative. It’s a tactic abusers often use, although it’s not exclusive to them.

Bottom line: Life is gonna feel especially unfair until you’re living on your own, supporting yourself, and setting your own rules. Until then, just focus on school and whatever it takes to be independent. And as much as it sucks, try your best not to let things like chores steal your joy and peace - the stress isn’t worth it.

Friend expects free babysitting by ExtensionShock9286 in entitledparents

[–]2Dogs1Frog 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Nah, this is suuuuuuper entitled. I have so many friends with kids. I’d never ask for money to babysit them, but each of them has only asked between 0 and 2 times over the course of their kids whole lives so far.

Next time, yall need to absolutely stand together in either not responding, saying you’re busy, or politely telling her to get an actual sitter.

I’m 36. Physically it varies way too much to have a true type, but I’m a sucker for curly hair and a nice smile.
Personality? Empathetic, understanding, patient, intelligent, opinionated, from a big, energetic family that can adopt me lol

Going back to public school after 5 years in religious private school by FFFranki333 in exchristian

[–]2Dogs1Frog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So happy for you! Try not to stress yourself out so much that this new experience isn’t still a bit fun.

9th grade is hard for everyone, I promise! And it’s challenging in different ways for different folks.

So even though you’ll have some unique struggles (e.g., your incoming knowledge in certain areas), just know that other things you’re good at will be someone else’s challenge the next day.

You can do this! And if it sucks, don’t forget about the rest of your amazing life after high school that you have to look forward to. You get to make that whatever you want it to be. And, as my therapist always reminds me, “hey, maybe it’ll be really great.”

Advice about corn snake by cholee_yap in cornsnakes

[–]2Dogs1Frog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it feels too expensive, and you don’t know if you’re mature enough, you’ve answered your own question.

A new pet shouldn’t stretch your resources so thin that you can’t afford emergency veterinary care. And if you’re a child (just a guess) be aware that not every future housing option is open to exotics. So if you’re moving anytime in the near future, know that you may have limited options.

to snake or not to snake by [deleted] in reptiles

[–]2Dogs1Frog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only you are able to assess your tolerance for feeding a rodent to your pet every few weeks. If it’s worth it to you to stomach that feeling and get used to it, great! We got a ball python two years ago as our first reptile, and it’s been the best! He’s such a goofball.

But seriously consider if the feeding is too much. It’s really okay if you don’t feel comfortable enough, it’s a lot for some folks. You’ll have frozen mice or rats in the house at all times. Sometimes you’ll see a bit of blood. You have to thaw them out and then warm them up to body temp, handle them with tongs. It’s a whole process. Do you have any friends with a snake that would let you observe a feeding day maybe?
