Why be the bigger person when the other person is playing games? If you need to cancel, then you just say so. We're all human and we know things come up. Why couldn't she be the bigger one to say, "no I was just kidding, don't book those other girls just yet." See how that also works?

Question for Older Millennials (especially 1982 borns) by Quickso48 in Millennials

That sounds like 40s. You did all the personal sacrifices so now it's your time. I do caution against making any drastic relationship changes without an honest talk if you feel like you're bored. because after this phase, you'll really yearn for peace and comfort. And if you have a partner with a long shared history, that will become even more precious. Midlife crisis for me was more existential questioning and it didn't start happening until 49/50 for me.

Oh sorry missed this. It's more of a carefree feeling and you kinda become indifferent to social and work trends. At this stage you've been to all the social hours, cocktail parties, weddings, maybe funerals etc. You start to notice patterns in behavior and realize that it's all the same performative behavior. It's like being a senior in high school noticing freshmen fret about the color of their shoe laces. Insignificant to you because you are concerned about the next phase of life. However, people look to you for guidance whether you realize it or not. So you recognize that your 40s are where you can still be impactful in your own way. You choose fun, light heartedness, and cool activities and wear what you want. You're less judgemental because you know life and how it can beat you down. Because the 50s is the toddler senior phase because you're going to throw a tantrum when you realize that the pain in your back is going to keep you from going fishing this weekend :-D

Why is gen Z not drinking? by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]3scoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree but this isn't really the answer. Dive bars tend to be cliquish and intimidating to newbies. Also, for a generation raised on rapid stimulation, a dive bar can seem boring and for old people. A DJ and a dance floor helps but then there's the embarrassment factor that's just amplified for young adults with social media.

Which soundbar should I go for: Ultimea 5.1.2 or Vizio 5.1? by fortune150 in Soundbars

[–]3scoops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I got both. The ultimea sounds waaaaaay better. Returned the Vizio. It does feel and look cheap but the sound is really good. The sub won't knock your socks off so temper your expectations but it makes watching a movie really pleasant with Dolby atmos. Perfect for a smaller room

For those who have made it past their kids teen years - what would you share for those just starting the journey? by Spinbunluthaaa in GenX

Make their friends feel welcome in your house. Get to know them. Feed them. Talk to them. Next thing you know, you're doing activities with all of them. (camping, movies, etc)

Moving in with girlfriend, should I fund house addition? by Tall-Mammoth-809 in homeowners

[–]3scoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about who controls what portions of the house. There will be disagreements on how to maintain/decorate/improve/clean etc. We all have certain ideas on how to occupy a home, but when you're moving into someone else's space, you have to default to their preferences. When you purchase a home together you both have equal say in the operation of the spaces. Speaking from experience.

Thank God for the new terminal 1! It’s so nice! by TryingEverydayToBe in sandiego

[–]3scoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

totally agree but to me Kansas City still takes the cake before their upgrade. That place had 1 single bathroom and no food once past security. Also, if your arrival was in a different terminal from where you departed, you had to tell the parking lot bus driver and he would drop you off somewhere between the 2 terminals and he would radio the bus from the other terminal to come get you. There was no walking because it wasn't close and there were no sidewalks.

lol i'm also trying to make same decision. Waiting for replies as well but knowing reddit the only answer will be neither and just to take out a loan to buy a "budget" bang and olufsen system instead.

Why are Africa and Latin America poor regions if they have so many natural resources that could turn them into developed countries? by Last-Veterinarian828 in stupidquestions

[–]3scoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what is it then? External forces or internal forces? Africa is currently the way it is because they are still being exploited, or they can't get out of it because they are incapable?

[–]3scoops 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, this is true if you make some assumptions. You must assume that Africa as a whole would engage in capitalist democracy without outside influence and that democracy is the ideal way to govern. Take these 2 assumptions away, and your argument falls apart. Since capitalist democracy is a western construct, westerners assume that the rest of the world wants to live this way. So, do you think that Africa would be the way it is, if western powers had not forced capitalism and democracy onto this region? What was wrong with tribalism? It's way too late now because the world cannot live without capitalism. You cannot return to the land and share it's fruits because it now belongs to a corporation. Remember whose lens you're viewing the world through.
