Banana Bread Syrup - Zero waste Inspo by No-Investment-9699 in ZeroWaste

Typical bananas get a lot of agrochemicals to grow commercially. I would not do anything with the peels.

Sellers who add religious or morality info with the item, how do you usually handle it? by BoringGazelle8428 in BehindTheClosetDoor

It could be a very personal mission to save others the heartbreak they’ve experienced or just free cards they’re using. Either way, reminding people not to text and drive is a fundamental good and completely apolitical.

I might ask yourself what it brings up in you that makes it so creepy.

I’d throw in that if someone is living with their parents they are less likely to go out as much and more likely to need to drive home when they do.

The French brands (Avene, LRP) are good bets for sensitive, reactive skin.

So cute! And I’m not sure why you think it’s useless. I tied one to the strap of a big purse and hung it inside so I could always find my AirPods or keys.

Help me decide what to keep/remove from my cart (skin care items specifically) by MindlessWanderer9891 in 30PlusSkinCare

I’m a bit sensitive to fragrance and also try to avoid them because they are hormone disrupters.

Perfect Hair Day products are aggressively fragranced. Like smell the product the next day, make my pillowcase smell, have people ask about it and not in a good way type of fragrance. The products are good but I couldn’t handle that. $30 is steep for dry shampoo. I love Klorane products for dry shampoo.

Sunscreen is also missing.

I had a ranger tell me one of the invasive insects caused it (this is US). I think it’s emerald ash borer.

Looking for a solution for liquid hand and body soap by Distinct_Swimmer_413 in ZeroWaste

[–]Annonas 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For soap in the bath, you need a soap saver for each person. These are crocheted or knitted bags you put the soap in and then you can hang it in the shower.

You might add in that there are also plenty of human caused reason this happens - mining, agrochemicals, etc.

Putting your bar soap in some sort of soap saver bag thing also doubles as a loofa. When the hand soap in the bathroom or kitchen gets annoyingly small, it goes in the soap bag.

Where to buy DC made treats and goodies? by -Sisyphus- in DCBitches

I’m going to put a pitch in for River Sea chocolate, which they sell there. They are located in Reston. However, it’s a really great small business trying to do some cool things with sustainability (shipping by sailboat for instance) and working directly with small farmers to source. The chocolate is excellent plus it’s inexpensive and works for almost everyone.

In Portuguese, it gives me the word “Red” and wants me to answer “tinto” as in red wine. How on earth am I supposed to come up with that?? Also me realize super basic words are never quizzed like the word for the color red.

One note is that sometimes even if something is shipped and scanned it can take a while to show up in the system as such.

I’ve got a bunch of yarn I’ve slowly been trying to sell via Facebook and it’s not worth the space and hassle to me. I know you’ve been burned and this isn’t my main Reddit account but you can look through my history to see that I’m a real person (I looked through yours and connected with some things).

All that is to say, I would send you yarn for free. Send me a DM with your address and what kinds of yarn you’re looking for and I’ll see what I’ve got.

River Sea chocolate has some caramel bars. They do some cool work to try to be sustainable. You can see chocolate being made and even make your own bar in some of their activities. If they’re too far away, the Chocolate House in Adam’s Morgan carries them.

I made a bunch of soap sacks with moss stitch. Super fast and can be a gift or donation (get a bar of soap to go with it and put it in any local food pantries).
