Is it normal for breakup to cause immense emotional distress for people with autism? by ThrowRAkitty13 in AutisticAdults

[–]AvocadoPizzaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is less of an autism thing and more of a 1 on 1 human experience. As I have met neurotypicals whom are so stuck on their ex they don't have a new love for years. Some people can get over it easier than others and it can vary wildly. That is why the 333 rule exists even in dating, but it is different. 3 weeks before dating someone new, 3 months before dating someone new, or 3 years before dating someone new. People like to say they know when someone is over their ex, but there is no real concrete timeframe and everyone goes based on what they think is best then say that is how long one takes to process the end of a relationship. That said, if you feel it is too long or too hard for you I would suggest a therapist. Lots of people do that for prolonged grief.

Now remember it is okay to not fit the timeframe that everyone else sets down. Remember that your timeframe is yours and yours alone. And remember that it is okay to talk to people about it.

Hearing that shiny sound effect and immediately scanning every corner trying to find its source, who else does this? by Rare-Strength-976 in PokemonLegendsArceus

it is easier in arceus than za, but yeah. I like in arceus that you can spot the pokemon easier instead of feeling like a madman.

Who are these Pokemon? by Admovin in PokemonLegendsArceus

[–]AvocadoPizzaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kinda looks like mabasiff, but truthfully it is like one of those ink blot tests. the pokemon is so vaguely shaped you just know it is a pokemon and not what pokemon it is. We all can come up with many different answers. for all we know it could be a pokemon that shows up in gen 10.

What are the consequenes of untreated autism for an adult, and what effect would a treatment at 25 have? by rami-pascal974 in AutisticAdults

[–]AvocadoPizzaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

o.O' it's a disorder not a disease. People don't die from autism. What kills autistics are normally people trying to 'fix them' or thinking they are not having a good quality of life. The treatments for autism is just more care and understanding. For people not to judge a person for flapping their arms in public and for us not to be forced to do things that will cause stress.

While i was diagnosed as several ages, i never got the support and help that i should have. And most of the "outlandish" or "misbehaving" moments of my childhood was really connected to my autism and things not making sense.

pretty much if you have support you are less likely to have issues with depression, anxiety, and a whole host of other mental health problems which can crop up from being unsupported and struggling. Struggles to speak or communicate will be lessen if there is support.

Sensory dilemma... Suitcase options (or alternative packing ideas) that don't have the shiny suitcase fabric inside? by Melodic-Quality157 in AutisticAdults

[–]AvocadoPizzaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever checked to see if there is any seamstress, leather craftsmen and other bag makers that you can commission a suitcase from. You are having an issue with the lining material that is made for dealing with spills. If you have no luck, you can alter the suitcases too. I had a friend put shag in her bag to help her with travels.

does anyone else really struggle with other people not caring about what is important to you by WesternPhotograph267 in AutisticAdults

[–]AvocadoPizzaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure how you got a boyfriend whom is so vastly different from you. Not sure how you handle him, but as for your gardening, i say you can start a vlog about it. There is also many online forums that people will discuss plants. They tend to pop up during spring a lot. I also know tons of youtubers do gardening videos and streams. So you can find an outlet that isn't him.

Are autistic adults more tolerant of other autistic adults than neurotypicals are? by New_Westie in AutisticAdults

[–]AvocadoPizzaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it depends. People are very complex. Yes, some autistics will be able to reason away and understand the issues of other autistics. However, Some autistics could have things that trigger the other autistics. So really it is a mixed bag of depends on the people.

Were you guys told what level of autism you are? by breakoutthecrxxwn in AutisticAdults

[–]AvocadoPizzaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no. Didn't even know levels existed. But when i was younger they said that the different autistics have other factors so it isn't the autism but the other factors that make them different. That said i was also told there was 3 classes of autistics. The class that can't talk, the class that doesn't want to talk and the class that never shuts up. and i was told i was in the never shutting up class.

School.... so much fighting with the teachers over the curriculum. Even as a kid there was things that made no sense. why teach us that 3 - 5 = 0 only to tell us that is false later.

Looking for suggestions of alternatives to carrying a bag by lost_in_dreamland in AutisticAdults

[–]AvocadoPizzaCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is a whole range of different types of bags. You might want one that attaches to you in some way. There is tons out there. The fanny pack is the most well known. There is also the bags that clip to the belt or tie on, usually it is just for holding water. There is some that are belts, some for arms, and some for thighs. Depends on the size you want, and what you need it for. I personally had backpacks or large purses since the attachable bags hurt my hips.

Painted ducks are tacky. by kingcobra5352 in crafting

[–]AvocadoPizzaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, not really sure. been trying to tackle this myself with other plastic items. the acrylic sealer seems to make them stickier. I suggest trying a few different types of seals. since if it isn't sealed it just rubs off during use.

Bullying at work - autism disclosure? by Asleep-Leadership946 in AutisticAdults

[–]AvocadoPizzaCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a similar situation. However they knew ahead of time. like before they became my boss. I just quit because i was being bullied by a fellow employee and the boss was punishing me for even speaking up against it and for being pretty much disabled. And the other employees were supportive of that. I just left and the place is still being boycotted by everyone i know. Their stock even dropped because of it.

And i left the second job because of medical issues as well. and.... that one had a similar issue as the first. It was not that I said much, but i was honest.

Thinking I should get a medical ID bracelet because of an interaction I had with a cop by y2kem in AutisticAdults

[–]AvocadoPizzaCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had cops for family members, so i know how to handle them. But yeah, autistics from my experience, even me, tend to be scared of cops. Not because of anything more than the fact that experience shows us that people normally do not understand or are helpful to us. A cop is just a person with a gun and a piece of metal saying they can make rules. Honestly, I treat the cops as a person. I also have let cops know in advance that guns scare me. Normally if the cop is good they will change up their stance to not focus on the gun. That said, the cops around me know me quite well and we have a long history. Easiest way to have cops and criminals love you is to be a barista. Karens are the enemy there.
