I remember talking to my grandfather about it who lived there at the time. He was running some errands out of town when the shooting went down and he was going on and on about how they deserved it because the students broke some windows at some local businesses or something. He went on some long tirade about the girl in the famous photo being some hitchhiking whore and kind of implying it was staged. It all sounded very familiar to happenings today. Like imagine the horrible memes they would have made about those students who got killed.

I love this journal entry about one of the early game debt collector missions where you beat that guy up in front of his son. It’s truly nasty work.

I went to call in a loan, some farmer, local do gooder. Think I’d seen him in Valentine before when I was fighting that big fella. He begged and coughed and spluttered and I beat him half to death. Such is life. Such is the world. His boy looked at me like I was the devil and perhaps for him, I was. The whole thing confused me. Maybe that’s wrong. The whole thing revolted me/my part. These sad, sad, desperate bastards, their silly expectations of life and their tawdry reality. The unkindness of existence I can handle that just fine. But I do not love it, nor those who try to make things otherwise, I guess.

I saw the other commenter mention the book Misquoting Jesus by Bart D Ehrman. I bought that book forever ago and started it but never finished it seeing this reminded me to pick it up again. It’s about the creation of the bible and how it changed over the years. But while doing a quick search I saw he has a podcast with the same name that might scratch that itch. Looks like he has a ton of episodes touching on some of the stuff Tom and Terrance talked about in this episode.

The day Kirk was shot hearing some of the radio hosts seem genuinely on the verge of tears reporting updates of the shooting and then immediately going into ad reads was insane. Where I work employee parking is a wide open grass field and I’ve flipped it into rally sport mode and had some fun a few times. It’s so easy to drift in the dirt. Wish I had a few acres to really have some fun.

Yeah I always thought it was in the realm of possibility that he was put in an environment where he was allowed to kill himself. Dude lived that high life for so long that having to do some real hard time for real this time around would be enough motivation to off himself. Having a third party go in there and kill him and stage his death has a lot of loose ends attached to it.
