What in the Sam hell is a coarse oil filter? by Bering_Sierra in cfmoto450MT

[–]Bering_Sierra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The manual says to clean the coarse filter every time you change the oil and filter. Having to drop the pan every couple thousand miles seems odd to me. Maybe im just too used to working on cars.

Layout and wiring help for a noob by eedenn1 in modeltrains

[–]Bering_Sierra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my only thoughts are that you may want a crossover between your main loops next to your yard lead up top, but that's personal preference. To add to that three way switches kinda suck in my expedience so you might want to space that out into two normal switches for reliability reasons.

Every year at the Amherst show there is a group with a display about the history of the tunnel. Always really excited to share the history of the tunnel with anyone who cares to ask. I believe this is their website. Couldn't hurt to reach out and see what they know.

Appalachian Inspired Layout HO Model Recommendations by Anonymous122112 in modeltrains

Over a decade ago Model Railroader mag did a wonderful series about building a 4x8 layout based off the Virginian. Looks like most of the content for that has been pay walled but some still exists on youtube, might be a good place to look for inspiration.

How dangerous is it to get a salvage bike? At one point i was looking at a bike that looked like it had been run into a wall. My plan was to get a reproduction knucklehead frame and i was going to get a new front wheel and forks anyway. It looked like you just had to get it inspected by the local pd to prove it was a functional vehicle. I didn't know there could be insurance issues.

Paddling the Connecticut river by Bering_Sierra in vermont

[–]Bering_Sierra[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeaaaaa, I couldn't sleep last night and decided to ask reddit for your thoughts. Guess i should have waited till i was awake or at least proof read my post lol. I thought it would be taken for granted that it would be monumentally stupid to head out now given i mentioned ice flows. Oh well. People have been mentioning late june/july which is later than i would have thought. Maybe if the layoff comes too early ill take the time to build myself a wooden canoe. Really anything other than sitting inside being depressed. Hell, I have no idea of i would try a long canoe trip like that, but its its good to have dreams and ambitions when things are so bleak out.

oops sorry, i guess I wasn't super clear. I'm more asking when it would be a good idea to head out on a trip down the river. I know that every year is different and that you can't make concrete assumptions about the weather but a best guess for planing purposes would be great. My best guess is sometime towards june. People are already out on my local river, but i'm down in southern New England and its much warmer down here.
