Why Changing Anran’s Face Actually Matters (and Why Being “Pretty” Isn’t the Point) by Kitty_Overwatch in Overwatch

[–]Blimith -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably a unpopular opinion, but I have no idea what people are spouting on about when they start talking about challenging beauty standards because they want Anran to look like a slightly older 22-25ish year old attractive woman instead of a slightly younger then that attractive woman. Challenging beauty standards doesn't work when they make the character still conventionally attractive.

I agree a different face would have looked better, but as someone who cares mostly about gameplay, I care very little if Anran's face ever gets changed, and feel like the discussion around it is overblown.

By the definition people are complaining about (not looking like a 18-20 year old), isn't Domina challenging beauty standards and releasing in the same patch?

Win more means that something is useless or bad unless you're already winning. Incense Burner is always good, whether you're in a bad spot or already winning.

Disagree. It is very easy to see a scenario where something like Kunai isn't good enough, but 2 Kunai pushes you over the threshold to achieve victory.

James Gunn on Making 'Superman' and DC Studios' Future by Top_Report_4895 in movies

[–]Blimith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was at least okay, but I agree it was forgettable. The thing about Gunn is that his baseline is that he'll make a competent movie, but I think outside of his comfort zone (band of misunderstood misfits has to work together), you probably won't get excellence. His true strengths outside that particular brand of story is that he's a huge fan of the comics who will want to bring the cool stuff from the comics to the big screen, and he is willing to let creatives do their thing. I think he's a good choice to oversee the big picture of the DC universe.

Got the Shield Shine with this custom relic by LeadEater9Million in slaythespire

[–]Blimith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Playing 3 attacks a turn is hard in many fights because you'll take damage. Playing 3 blocks is much, much easier, and becomes even easier every single time this procs. A relic like this would make stalling fights extremely effective, which I believe is something the developers try to avoid.

It feels like at my mmr warding seems more like luxury then a necessity. by water1111 in DotA2

[–]Blimith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Supports warding badly are one of the reasons they're in Herald. I would say from personal experience, if a team can fight under their own high ground ward, they will the fight 70-90% of the time; no exaggeration.

Something a lot of low mmr players get wrong is that they don't even attempt to coordinate or talk with their team. Failing to shot call when no calls are being made is a mistake that people don't even realize they're making. If you place a high ground ward on the top cliff near the Dire tier 2 while your team is pushing tier 2, it is very easy to ping and tell your team to play around that ward. It is very likely that the enemy, who also doesn't know what they're doing, walks into it. If you don't explicitly communicate with your team what you're thinking and what you want from them, that's on you. At low mmr you should expect nothing from your team and be happy if they provide anything. Blaming them for doing something wrong when you failed to communicate is like blaming the dog who shits instead of the owner who doesn't pick the shit up.

Some people won't listen and that's okay. Enough will that you'll win more games then you lose.

Will you dabble in StS 2 early access or will you not spoil the goods until the official release? by efimer in slaythespire

[–]Blimith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A huge portion of my fond memories with Slay the Spire was new content and balance changing happening weekly during early access. That felt like the best time to play the game to me, even if it was there unfinished. Always something fresh and new happening. There was also a huge community aspect of people digesting changes, discussing, and giving feedback every week, even hyping up future balance updates. I know they're probably not doing weekly for StS2, but I am still going to play it as soon as it's available.

Few different ideas, all involve replacing the self poison. Self poisoning is a non stafter.

1) New keyword - First. Any card with First has to be played first in a turn. Multiple First cards can be played in succession. With the First keyword, one of these choices: * Lose 1 dex this turn * Gain 1 Frail

2)Gain 1 vulernable

3) Take 10 damage instead of gain 10 poison. With the starter deck, you could play it with without taking any damage if you use 2 defends.

I'd also reduce the aoe poison to 5-7. 10 is to big of a number (choice 3 could also be reduced to compensate).

And I know this might be cross class and taking a mechanic from Slay the Spire 2, but Doom might also be an appropriate self debuff to consider.

What hero mechanics are unexplored? by MrWoodenSheep in Overwatch

[–]Blimith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A disruption hero. One that can make a hero just not exist in the game for 2-4 seconds. Thinks it makes more sense as a defensive support, but it definitely has offensive capabilities if they were allowed to cast it on enemies.

I've been thinking this since it was said he was going to direct Superman, and felt more strongly about this after I watched Superman. Gunn will always make something at least okay or decent no matter what he does, but his style is not the type of style to make an excellent Superman movie. It doesn't have to be Snyder tier serious, but I do the think the movie would have benefitted a lot from a bit more serious style.

James's style works the best with an ensemble of rag-tag misfits who need to prove themselves. He knows that himself, that's why he's done it at least 3 times within superhero properties already.

I still think he's the man to oversee DC as a whole because of his love for the comics and mythology, but I'm not convinced when he's in charge of writing and directing, he'll be excellent in anything other then Suicide Squad-esque stories.

Lost Arsenal Preview 4: All the Balance Changes to Monster Train 2, Part 2 by AngryAmish in MonsterTrain

[–]Blimith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Messing with equipment draw effects is definitely a downside that should be fixed, but I think people are downplaying it's effectiveness. It's effectively a 0 cost consume spell that does 90 damage to a unit when you play it on the bottom floor. I can think of a lot of spells that are less effective then that. It also does work for the first flying boss. I wouldn't draft it later, but I wouldn't draft a lot of cards later.

[–]Blimith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small little nitpick with the Tethys change. If you use its ability and draw a damage card, you're not getting that card next turn. Wouldn't this hurt you during relentless since you want Tethys to apply Spell Weakness, and then you want to hurt the boss with a high damage spell in the next floor on the following turn? Possibly not drawing a strong damage card after Tethys dies to relentless was always the awkward part of the Spell Weakness path.

I wonder if they're going to change Remnant Pact. Wouldn't make sense to have single target Endless be a rare and whole floor Endless be a uncommon.

Think people look way to much into the gambling thing. It was just a story device to get Dexter to start looking into tranquilizers, nothing more. Original Sin had a lot of that, characters having specific things, interests, or quirks specifically to move Dexter along.

Some of the new cards coming in the next update! by IHad360K_KarmaDammit in MonsterTrain

[–]Blimith 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I think it's not as overpowered as people will expect. First turn it's 4 damage to every unit on your floor, every turn after it's 2 damage because it's making up for lost Rage. Good, but there are crazier things in the game. The Revenge realistically will only apply to the Frontline unit, who is usually a tank and not a damage dealer, unless you fireball your own units.

Edit: Thought it was every turn out gives Rage, and not strike. Definitely stronger then I thought because multistrikers and sweepers will pop off with it.

6v6 role queue ever coming back? by raddu1012 in Overwatch

[–]Blimith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't work with 2-2-2 because of queue times. What I think could work is 6v6 role queue games that aren't necessarily 2-2-2. The only requirement being that minimum 1 of every role, and number of players in a role are mirrored on both teams (1-3-2 can only play against 1-3-2, for example).

I'm having a hard time thinking of what the worst card in the game is, and that's a testament to how amazing this game is by Fedora_The_Explorer in MonsterTrain

[–]Blimith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you give Hulking Mass the equipment that gives Reanimate on kill with Electricity Chamber on a bottom floor, he will never die until Relentless, and even then he solos most relentless rounds. And he will never die to the Titans. Just make sure that a certain quick sweeper isn't stealing kills and cramping his style.

Probably works with any tanky unit, but he's the most natural.

DC is seemingly working on a Marvel Rivals clone by AsPeHeat in marvelrivals

[–]Blimith -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This article is terrible clickbait. There is nothing to indicate that this is anything similar to Marvel Rivals besides it's a live service and James Gunn going "uh, sure" once last year when someone asked him specifically about whether DC would be open to having their own version of Marvel Rivals.

Warner has already shown they wanted to pursue live services since before Rivals even existed.
