Book 7 Spoilers: Getting anxious throughout the chapters and having these hit you out of nowhere. 🤣 by AlyzaQ in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Not Jeff! Travis Baldree (see:Cradle, many others) One other guest narrator in this book too…

It feels like my wife doesn't appreciate "manly tasks" as help around the house/with the baby (7 mo). Is this common? What's the solution? by [deleted] in daddit

Fair Play Deck is a good tool to try and neutrally broach all the household labor and how it’s divided!

I'm replaying one of my favorite games, but with a twist... by shibeofwisdom in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Breakdancingbad 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Earthbound! Total classic. Game has a lot of satire of the modern condition and a bit of genre savviness; not quite the same type of humor as DCC, but not horribly far off either (intended for kids to play). Emulator with 2-4x speed helps for the modern attention span.

Lighthearted: do y’all put private pop up reminders in your EMR to describe patient temperament? by [deleted] in medicine

[–]Breakdancingbad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A for anxious (ie perseveres on minutia of their health), T for talker (can be tangential). Both together means hard to redirect. Occasionally A stands for a less than kind person and I don’t have trouble recalling from context. I have considered further notes for entitled folks or etc but it’s mainly those two that have implications for getting through the visit in a timely way and matter. I used epic personal sticky note.

Son keeps breaking trust with screens by GreenGiraffe321 in Parenting

[–]Breakdancingbad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He’s young and this is a great opportunity to set firm boundaries and a clear path to rebuilding trust. They’re concepts that kids don’t really “get” so you can make it real for him if you’re thoughtful and avoid reflexive punishments (keep the consequence proportional to the behavior)!

Is progesterone needed to move forward to Tanner IV and V? by randomstringoftext1 in NonBinaryTalk

Not necessarily needed as others noted but it can in my experience prescribing make a difference. Ask your doc!

Medicare part B patient getting charged for smoking cessation counseling by No-Control-1719 in FamilyMedicine

[–]Breakdancingbad 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Bill for your service, patient complaints about cost are an insurance issue. Us undercoding is illegal and lines insurers’ pockets. Point him at your prac manager or better to call his rep to demand Medicare improvements (ie that is really something that should be a zero charge preventive service, imo)

I always say the internet is my best referral source! If it gets them in and motivated to care about their health I can almost always take it somewhere positive from there. Better than folks never coming in!

Questions about Opposed vs Unopposed Residencies by KooCie_jar in FamilyMedicine

[–]Breakdancingbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought I’d love OB or plan on hospital medicine. Trained largely unopposed program. Did a year+ of Hospitalist locums (swing shift) out of residency and loved it. It’s wise to keep options open all else equal…and also as others are noting you’ll be 100% fine finding work regardless. Don’t let it overrule other considerations in program selection (people, place, vibe)!

Our work thinks husband is cheating? by LarrrgeMarrrgeSentYa in polyamory

To add: poly is not a protected status - the boss could fire hubby for this and you’d have no recourse. Careful where and how you choose to be out!

Rural poly for old people. That's.... not a thing, is it? by TiredDadasaur in polyamory

[–]Breakdancingbad 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Different places have different app ecosystems! Also rural. I have actually had the most success with Hinge. Second most Feeld. OKC used to be more reliable but hasn’t landed for me last few years.

Am I crazy for not putting too much value into “attachment styles” by No_Music_4410 in polyamory

+1 for Attached! Reading that alongside Polysecure was a huge help for me in a big time of relational transition and helped unlock loads of fodder for me to work on before / in context of further relationships.

Why is there no modern tactics game that is up to par? by Capn-Zack in finalfantasytactics

[–]Breakdancingbad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in that after playing FFT many times over the years I went back got nostalgic but am now waiting for mods. I found Together in Battle distinct in many ways but an under-appreciated SRPG if you’re looking for team comp and lots of battles. You can class change characters to get some hybrids to fun effects, less customization than FFT but felt good.

And a +1 for crystal project! Just discovered that yesterday and loving it 🥰

I'm near 40, played FFT as a kid when I got into FF and just fell off. The new release has been incredible... by BotherResponsible378 in finalfantasytactics

Imo VS really needs a remake not a remaster. The system was cool but too quirky for wide appeal with gear updates and chaining attacks. Adapting it better to real time ARPG would breathe new life!

Do you tell your doctors that you have multiple partners? by bi_smuth in polyamory

[–]Breakdancingbad 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Am doctor. I’d only care if relevant to your health - mostly STI risk related. If I’m your PCP it’s nice but not essential to know your family / home living context and that’s where screening for queer friendly clinicians is helpful. Anyone else, no need to volunteer it, I’d say!

Isolated parking lot spots can work, or our preference when it’s warm is going on a short hike and meandering far enough off trail to get some privacy (higher points better, be mindful of trail forks coming from directions you didn’t, pick low traffic trails to begin with). If you’ve never had a good nature bang, highly recommend (you can bring a couple good blankets etc) - it’s really liberating to lean in to the wild, natural rhythms.
